National final season is well and truly heating up. One country which has reverted back to a national final in 2020 is Armenia. Depi Evratesil 2020 is the third edition of the show which was first introduced in 2017. Twelve acts are competing to represent their country in Rotterdam but in the end, only one will get the ticket. We want to know who you think it should be.
Depi Evratesil 2020 will take place on Saturday 15 February. In 2017, the contest was held as a search for an artist only. That contest unearthed Artsvik who soared in Kyiv. Then, the 2018 edition took place, searching for both a singer and song for Eurovision. Sevak Khanagyan proved victorious with “Qami” but failed to make it out of a tough semi-final in Lisbon. In 2019, Armenia opted to put Depi Evratesil on hold and internally selected Srbuk for Tel Aviv. The “Walking Out” singer unfortunately also walked out of the semi-final.
This year, the twelve hopefuls looking to represent Armenia at Eurovision include La Voix runner-up Miriam Baghdassarian — that’s the French-Canadian Voice franchise. She is joined by former Greek Junior Eurovision hopeful Athena Manoukian and Armenian Junior Eurovision winner Vladimir Arzumanyan. Also competing is TOKIONINE, who co-wrote last year’s Armenian entry “Walking Out”.
There are some big names in the lineup but only one can fly the Armenian flag in Rotterdam. You can listen to the playlist of entries below and then cast your votes for your favourites. As usual, you can vote for as many of the songs as you like but you can only vote once, so choose wisely.
Send Artem Valter!!!
Overall, I believe that this selection is so-so. Most songs are average, a little below or a little above average. My top 5 are Tokionine, Erna, Agop, Sergey & Nikolay and Gabriel. I wouldn’t necessarily put my money on their qualification, though. The only song I find engaging is Save Me. My 12th is easily Eva, as her enunciation makes it hard to understand most of the lyrics.
1-Athena
2Tokionine
3Vladimir
Athena is cheater
Tokionine is the best! Please armenian people send him!
Tokionine’s Save me is the only rational choice
I don’t like any of them… Armenia is in danger to not qualifying again :/
only ATHENA!!!!
For me it has to be Agop or TOKIONINE. Both would benefit from a revamp though. My fav is Agop but “Butterflies” isn’t the type of song that people root for or wins a NF. I’m afraid Armenia will back Athena. It has the profile they like: a (wannabe) diva with an “untempo” song. “Chains on you” is pretentious and annoying.
Save me is adorable. Make no mistakes Armenia!
Standouts: Butterflies and Save me. Last one is very ‘The Weekend’, pretty funky. I’m impressed
Ok lol, let me add ‘this is your turn’ to the list. DRAMA, then etno bop, constant 180’s
I don’t think that Athena will win… if they eliminated Tamar Kaprelian in 2018, the same will happen this year.
My favorite is Vladimir Arzumanyan… I’m very surprised with his song.
My only fave is Eva Rida with no love but i dont feel she will win. I dont think armenians will go for her
None. Ditch them all and choose internally.
All the songs chosen so far are better than any of these and I honestly can’t see one respectable competitor next to them here. Unless they change the song or massively revamp them, then even out of this world staging would really struggle to qualify. I think they are just heading for another worst result with this, and that is sad because they gave us Lovewave not so long ago 🙁
P.S. Armenian Public Tv still need to fire the responsables of Eurovision project , find competent musical director and new project. This diletantism is waste of money. We need a selection consentrated on songwriters and not artists
I think it’s safe to say none of these are better than Walking Out
They should’ve internally selected an act again this year. Last year’s nonqualification had nothing to do with the song, just the staging and Srbuk’s tired vocals. I can’t picture any of these songs qualifying, even if executed to perfection,
There is one simple option: TOKIONINE I hope TOKIONINE will save Armenia! Actually “Save me” is much better song than many entries chosen so far (IMO it’s better than all selected songs so far)! As for Athena Manoukyan – she sounds like boring provincial Beyonce wannabe and besides being quite dull Beyonce immitation her song is extremly forgetable! TOKIONINE isntead offers quite modern music and competent instrumentals and it seems guy has good voice! Meanwhile Athena would rather to find out whether she is Greek or Armenian, to find herself as artist, to learn a language and comeback with better… Read more »
She is not interested in the Greek market, her songs flopped 7 years ago
I know! Hopefuly she flopes here as well no matter how teenagers wank for her
Sorry, don’t like any of them. Except maybe TOKIONINE has the only listenable song… Very weak songs from Armenia this year….
I love chains on you, I don’t mind save me and run away. Other than that, it’s a pretty mediocre national final
I vote AGOP otherwise I liked Hayk Music. Apparently I’m the only one lol
I don’t like any of the songs:/
Save Me is literally the only reasonable choice.
chains on you. the ariana vibezzz <3
An offence to Ariana
Probably the weakest selection of this season. Looks like Armenia are heading towards their third consecutive NQ.
Finlands and Latvias selection are worse
Finland at least has 1 great song
I hope you’re not implying the abomination that Cicciolina is
Cicciolina is already iconic imo
Both Latvia’s and Finland’s entry (if they choose Cicciolina) are better than any of these songs in Depi Evratesil.
Anyway it seems like Latvia, Finland and Armenia will all not qualify… unless semi 2 can somehow get even worse lmao
Save Me is much better than both Cicciolina and Still Breathing
4 of Finland’s songs are credible- with one genuinely inspired offering in Cicciolina.
why is there no option for “none, please – pick one of the non chosen ones from other NFs”?
One of the weakest NFs so far, comparable to Latvia and Moldova. Btw, I think I am THE person who voted for Erna here 😀
