[polldaddy poll=10510659]Eesti Laul 2020 – Estonia’s song selection for Rotterdam – comes to an end on Saturday.

It’s been a very long time since we first heard the participating songs, and 24 entries have been cut down to just 12.

Ahead of semi-final two Jaagup Tuisk was the bookmakers’ and our readers’ favourite by far. He’s since cemented that position, with his song “Beautiful Lie”. Perhaps his impressive effects-driven stage show has won your support.

Or it could be that you still hold a torch for Rasmus Randvee. He was our readers’ favourite to win semi-final one and his song “Young” made the grand final directly. If you’re into dark horses, SHIRA’s “Out in Space” did very well in the readers’ poll and our in-house jury. The song qualified from semi-final two as a wildcard, but as Ukraine proved to us last week, the final voting can be a completely different story.

Or perhaps you’re backing comeback queen Laura Põldvere. She was the act for which you were most excited for in the run-up to the show. That, however, was before the songs were announced. After the song came out, the response from Eurofans was rather lukewarm.

Whoever you want to win Eesti Laul 2020 we want to hear from you. You can vote for as many of the twelve finalists as you like, but make your vote count as you can only vote once. We’ll reveal results shortly before the final this weekend.

Who should win the final of Eesti Laul 2020?

Inger – “Only Dream”

Rasmus Rändvee – “Young”

Stefan – “By My Side”

Synne Valtri feat. Väliharf – “Majakad”

Uudo Sepp – “I’m Sorry. I Messed Up”

Uku Suviste – “What Love Is”

SHIRA – “Out in Space”

Anett x Fredi – “Write About Me”

Jaagup Tuisk – “Beautiful Lie”

Traffic – “Üks kord veel”

Egert Milder – “Georgia (On My Mind)”

Laura – “Break Me”

I love all 12 of them. But based on what I have seen so far, I have to choose Jaagup Tuisk.
By all means everyone else keep trying, though. 🙂

laura has the best song but she must sing it like the studio version and a banjoplayer belongs on the stage!

Honestly, there is nothing new in this selection. The majority of the songs sound the same, the originality is just not there and 90% of the singers sound very amateurish live, I mean some of the voices are just too weak. “Eesti Laul” had some great years, 2020 is not one of them! The only song which I actually like is “Break me” but Laura’s English pronunciation is appalling and her live rendition of the song is simply bad. I really enjoy her work and her voice but I wonder if she has ever heard of “singing lessons”?

These songs vary from monotonously slow to very slow to slow. A bit of a disappointing selection overall. I couldnt even pick one song out of them.

Jaagup is the only song that made me feel something. I haven’t followed eesti laul so far but that would get a place in my top 10.

The others simply wouldn’t .

I’m still sad about Revals not making it to the final, they were my winners.
From these, Egert is my absolutely favourite. But I like Majakad, Traffic, Anett x Fredi, Shira and Inger as well.

Jaagup, Traffic and Shira are my favorites. I’ll be happy if any of them win.

‘Beautiful Lie’ is my favorite and a good song. It’s one of these that really hits you in the first listening . It’s so powerful! I hope it wins. There are also a couple of songs that are also okay (Traffic, ‘Georgia On My Mind’ or ‘Out of Space’). I just hope that Estonia doesn’t select Uku – that song is dated and cheap. And the performance is so cheesy (Love? Candles? Gosh.). I really don’t get how this can be a favorite to win. I hope that the juries really value the weakness of the song, because the Estonian… Read more »

I dont think Estonia need to choose an artist, i heard that Euovision will maybe be postponed due to Corona Virus. There will probably be two eurovisions in 2021 instead. (If virus is over)

what?
what?

What if it isnt over in 2021? Will there be three eurovisions in 2022?

And I thought Poland or Belgium would be the most boring song this year. I could be wrong.

Honestly this is difficult. Because the best song is clearly Beautiful Lie, however why do we like it so much (and yes here it is again). Obviously When the party is over… I mean I really like Beautiful Lie and that is why its so hard, but I don’t believe for a second that he came up with that intro and the exact same lyric himself since its so specific, or that he didn’t realise this was a line from the second most famous song of one of the biggest artists at this time. Drawing inspiration is one thing but… Read more »

Oh please stop with that… I’m in love with beautiful lie and I had never heard When the party is over. When I did, yes there is a close structure but come on … There’s nothing wrong here and after all, it’s music ! There’s not an infinite range of rhythms and notes Why it’s not that of a big deal that one of the UMK entry sounds very much like “without you – Avicii” ? And that “release me” from Belgium has one of its line being EXACTLY the same melody as one of the polish entry “Chce znac… Read more »

I agree for a big part with you but you’re jumping to assumptions, Im not saying I like any of the songs that sound very similar. I like something that is unique, which this isn’t. Some examples are less fortunate since the songs they sound like are less known, however When the party is over is on a Grammy Award winning album and one of the biggest songs of the past year, I don’t think they misheard that. Of course there is an infinite range when it comes to music, however that line is just a rip-off. Thats what makes… Read more »

Georgia on my mind is the only song with some creative talent. Others will be completely forgotten in the line up.

From the beginning, when Eesti Laul released all the entries for this year’s renewal, i have only had ears for one song…..and this hasn’t changed at all..
For me, the best shot for Estonia is Egert Milder and Georgia (On My Mind)
Fabulous vocals and audience participation at the last chorus will guarantee Estonia a place in the grand final.
Put this together with the fact that Georgia can vote in the same semi final, makes this a no-brainer….
Go Egert, and Estonia please do the right thing!!

Honestly, it’s really hard to say.
Nobody in this final has the combination of strong song, originality, standout appeal and excellent performance. Some boxes are ticked but not all of them.

I think the strongest qualification chances are in the following order; 1. Stefan 2. Rasmus 3. Jaagup but really, there’s not much in it.

My superfinalists:

1. Rasmus Rändvee – Young (6.75)
2. Jaagup Tuisk – Beautiful Lie (6.75)
3. Uudo Sepp – I’m Sorry. I Messed Up (6.75)

Wouldn’t mind SHIRA or Stefan winning though.
