This weekend, Serbia chooses its entrant for Eurovision 2020.

And ahead of the Beovizija semi-finals,  girl group Hurricanewho are among the frontrunners –  have revamped their entry “Hasta la vista”. The girls have also released a fiery music video.

Hurricane – “Hasta la vista” music video

Directed by Đorđe Obradović, Hurricane’s music video brings the fire and energy the group served in their promo images.

The video shows the three ladies in a variety of different settings, styles, and outfits ranging from vibrant hues of neon pink and yellow, to dark and more sultry leather looks.

Aside from the stunning visuals, the Serbian trio have also strengthened the melody of their number. The subtle revamp gives the song an almost anthemic feel and the heightened bass provides a more solid structure to tie the whole project together.

Who are Hurricane?

Aside from Eurovision 2016 alum, Sanja Vučić, Hurricane is a trio which also includes Ksenija Knežević and Ivana Nikolić. If Ksenija’s name looks familiar — there’s a reason. She’s the daughter of another Eurovision alumni, Montenegro’s 2015 singer Knez.

The story of the group’s formation is explained by their founder, Zoran Milinković. After Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the Carribean in 2017, Milinković participated in the cleanup efforts on the island of Sint Maarten.

After returning to Serbia, he then formed the group to send a message of support. Hurricane’s first single, fittingly, was named “Irma, Maria”. The music video showed cleanup efforts, whilst the song preached about the strength and will to rebuild after tragedy.

The ladies have released three non-Beovizija related singles since September 2019: “Favorito”, “Avantura”, and “Brzi prsti”. “Favorito” has already amassed over 45 million views.

What do you think of the revamped version of Hurricane’s “Hasta la vista”? Do you prefer it to the original? Let us know your opinions down in the comments below

The original version was better. Here you can hear the clashes between the original song and the newer production elements- they’ve seemed to have just added new sounds on top of the existing song rather than revamping it properly. Moreover, given the polarising reception of turbo-folk, leaning into it even more with the revamp is a risky, if bold, choice.

It’ll be a decent winner and definitely qualify in Rotterdam. but this is a strong selection, relatively speaking.

In this article there are more haters hating comments than haters hating song.
It will be unusual choice for Serbia and still the song for the left side board, but we will see on Sunday who will represent Serbia. Congratulations to all.

A televote top 10 or even top 5 act (depending on the quality of the acts to be revealed). I don’t know about the juries. It’s okey for me but not a killer song. I like more laid back stuff and this hits you like a train wreck.

So now that Fuego made it high on the scoreboard, every upbeat song is compared to it and treated as mediocre? No offence, Fuego was my personal favourite in 2018, but it is unfair to accuse other artists of copying Fuego just because their music is similar, I mean genres exist for a reason right? Anyway, if this wins in Serbia it will definitely stand out at Eurovision.
Good luck girls!

this is so Serbia from the 90ies.. one can notice the revamp, but still that was not the issue, but the Hasta la vista concept in the first place.. I don’t mind hot chicky dancy sexy group song.. but not this one.. it is lame, date, boring.. it is just noise.. it is not even catchy.. it’s kinda trashy and cheap, rather.. Shout out to Serbia for bringing massive diversity in their national selection, but unfortunately all of the songs are lame.. You are literally picking a song that will not qualify.. same as Slovenia and.. i think it was… Read more »

I like it better than before but still not feeling it 100% was more interested in the background guys than the song. They sound great nonetheless… and this seems to be a song that will shine on the stage so I’m really holding off till I see them perform live to judge it in full. Wish them good luck and glad so many people do seem to enjoy it.

Honestly when I heard the first version of the song I was really disappointed, since I expected more fire from them. But now, with the revamped version the fire is there. These girls are not only pretty, they have vocal talent, charisma and fit perfectly together. I love it!
Hope it wins Beovizija and I hope they sing it in Serbian on ESC if so. #girlpower

Too generic, too Fuego and too Me Tana. Stuff heard and seen before! Just because it has scantily clad girls and just because it is rythmic, it doesn’t mean it is good! It takes muuuch more to impress the Eurovision audience than to mumble some lame lyrics and dance in underwear to an upbeat instrumental. If this eventually gets the ticket to Rotterdam, it will finish at 13-14th place in the semi.

It’s probably not going to be my #1 in Serbia but yeah, this is actually a really, really good presentation of the song and they’re an excellent option if they won’t to do something a bit less traditional.

My head is spinning and not in a good way. 🙁
However, this is “in your face” and especially with so many slower songs this year, I think this will find an audience. I could see Serbia both qualifying and being in my personal bottom 5 with this.
