Tonight in Neve Ilan, Israel’s Eden Alene will sing her four songs for Rotterdam. The winner of the show, which we’ll know through 60% jury and 40% televote, will then represent Israel in Eurovision 2020. We asked you which entry you want to see represent Israel and your favourite was “Rakata”.

The Next Song for Eurovision 2020 poll results

Since the songs were released on Wednesday, fans have been all over “Rakata”. Besides the connection to “Cherry Red”, fans have also praised the African influences and catchy rhythm. So, unsurprisingly, “Rakata” – accent on the “ta” – won the apparently three-horse race. Because the fan support has been so significant over the past week, it comes as no surprise that the song won with such ease. It got 731 votes, which made up 38.49% of the total.

“Feker Libi”, written by famous songwriters Doron Medalie and Idan Raichel, came second. But instead of being a frontrunner, it found itself in a close fight for number two. The penta-lingual bop scored 527 votes, which account for 27.75% of the result.

“Roots” will be a dark horse coming into the national final. Though the songwriters behind it are two very well-known lyricists, the fans didn’t instantly love it. However, there is some consensus that the song is a grower, and Eden may be planning something crazy for the live performance. With 513 votes, the track came a close third, achieving 27.01% of your votes.

Lightyears below the top three, the explosive ballad “Savior in the Sound” landed a distant fourth. The song is clearly a jury song, but did inspire marginal support. Some fans just love an underdog. It only got votes from 128 of our readers, which means 6.74% of the total vote.

[polldaddy poll=10512561]

Tonight, Eden will perform all four songs live for the first time, and later we will know the winning song.

Do the results match your taste? Which song do you predict will win tonight?

Feker Libi winning is SUPER okay with me!

People concerned about the lack of bops, your wishes are being slowly fulfilled!

I think we are all being over dramatic. Probably at the end we’ll be getting the same ratio of ballads as every year, around 15 plus a few midtempo songs.

Preferred Roots but I’m not surprised that the public voted for Idan Reichel song. He did songs with Ethiopians for many years and it’s considered the perfect match. But Roots was so cool, especially with that other singer who sings the chorus

The interviews were recorded at least a week or more before the live show.

Yeah, I kinda guessed that, I was just joking! 🙂 Where was he earlier in the show, though?

Maybe he needed a long toilet break…? Maybe he was held by a traffic jam? Can’t think of something more sinister or conspiratorial although I’m tempted because it was so clear that Medalie and Raichel’s brand and reputation were gonna tip the scales in their favor. You can’t beat a power couple like that.

I liked Rakata and still like it, i think it’s the safest option
However, with Faker libi or Roots the risk is higher but may be worth it
I don’t know which one of them to choose, because Roots ends too abruptly while FL has a cheesy chorus which ruins it a bit

You welcome! Just a reminder to everyone that the staging and the choreography you’re gonna see tonight were conceived in such haste to meet the 3rd of March deadline that you shouldn’t take any of them as indicators for anything. Eden literally worked around the clock to squeeze the song selection and the live show in less than two weeks.

“Rakata” is really good but for win its have to be ROOTS or FEKER LIBI!

Doron Medalie explained that “Feker Libi” combines an 80s pop sound because apparently it’s a trend now. So that explains the weird dated chorus. I do think that they might want to work more on that part if this song gets chosen. It doesn’t sound 80s but early 2000s, in a bad way.

I know I am in the minority but I prefer Saviour In The Sound to all of the songs but I think Rakata would do the best at Eurovision (also my close second)

I like all 4 songs but I think “Roots” would be the best option for Israel. The most unique and the best lyrically song in their selection.

I would love to see Feker Libi or Roots in Rotterdam simply because I feel they’re more unique than Rakata. Don’t get me wrong, I like Rakata too and she would definitely qualify with it for sure, but it’s not the best option in my opinion.

Rakata is definatly the most catchy song but is it the best one? Im totally not sure.
Roots is more unique and feker libi as well(although i have a problem with the chorus of feker libi, the rest of the song is excellent).
And to tell the truth saviour in the sound is an amazing song,
But was given to eden while everybody dont want a ballad
No matter how good it is…
It will all come down to the live performances today.
The hardest decision ever for israel…good luck…(:

All songs are good and special ones.
I think we need a song like Feker Libi for next May but Rakata would be a good option, too
