We have heard almost all 41 entries of Eurovision 202. And the bookies’ odds continue to change. And, after taking a break last year, Bulgaria has soared up the rankings to become the new favourite to win Eurovision 2020.

Iceland has dropped one to second and Lithuania, the early favourite is now third. None of the top three have won Eurovision before.

Eurovision 2020 Odds: Bulgaria favourite to win – 10 March

Bulgaria joined Eurovision in 2005. But it has only qualified for the final on four occasions. However, the country’s fortunes have changed since 2016. It withdrew in 2019 due to financial reasons. However, now its seemingly back with a bang and in it to win it.

Victoria currently sits at the top of the bookies’ tree with odds of 5/1. We have known of Victoria’s participation since November last year but her song “Tears Getting Sober” was only released on Saturday. It is already making serious waves. Perhaps Victoria will be crying happy tears come May.

Other Eurovision Favourites

Lithuania is clinging on to a podium finish. Currently with odds of 6/1, The Roop is not out of the race and could bring Lithuania’s first win back home to Vilnius. “On Fire” is currently second.

Daði & Gagnamagnið and “Think About Things” have become a bit of a sensation since their reveal as Iceland’s 2020 representatives. The quirky band with the iconic sweatshirts and killer moves have stolen the hearts of everyone including a few famous names like the Gladiator himself – Russell Crowe. At odds of 6/1 it seems like this could be Iceland’s best finish yet.

Switzerland’s entry was revealed last week, and it seems the bookies like what they hear. With odds of 8/1, Gjon’s Tears’ song “Répondez-moi” could be the first non-English song to win since Salvador Sobral in 2017.

Russia is yet to reveal its song. But it seems its status as a Eurovision powerhouse along with Little Big’s reputation is keeping it in the top five. With odds currently at 9/1, it seems that the bookies expect a big song to come from the east.

Just outside the top five is Romania. It’s still in the mix with odds of 11/1. Next is Italy at 14/1.

In most years, Sweden usually flirts with the top five, but not this time. The bookies appear somewhat unimpressed with The Mamas. They currently have odds of 33/1. From being one of the early contenders, Australia has fallen dramatically. You can now get odds of 66/1 from some betting companies.

Of course, it is only March so it is still very early days. The pre-parties are coming up soon, so expect the odds to change.

Eurovision 2020: Betting Odds – 10th March

The same people who think Bulgaria, Switzerland are great, wonderful and beautiful are practical the same who think that The Netherlands, Belgium, Roemenia are boring as hell… just saying. And by the way who says Lithuania, Iceland, Switzerland or even Bulgaria will win.. Look what happened with Austria and Portugal. Non of them were bookie favourites and they won both… So wouldn’t it be great to see someone taking the victory home who we didn’t thought of?

Israel will be in top 10. It’s a bright light in all the depressing ballads. Also the staging will be much better than the previous one because that was hastily put together.

I’m calling it now, Switzerland has been an underdog since the song was revealed, but I think it will come alive on stage and be one of those ‘wow’ moments that may get it to top 5 or even winner!

Exactly. Switzerland by bookies hit TOP10 on February 26 and TOP5 on March 5 (the song officially announced on March 4). It’s currently #4 by bookies so I really don’t get in what kind of universe Brum is living if being the 4th is considered to be an underdog.

He is it redundant . I would say sweden is redundant because they won in 2012 and 2017? In short span of time . It would be great for other smaller countries or not well known to take tje victory and the audience visits a new city. Go underdogs lol !

Ain’t it exciting that it’s such a divisive year, anything could happen!!!
The entries that are going to do well in televoting like Iceland, Russia, Serbia, Lithuania are probably the ones a little less appreciated by juries. Then Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands wille do really well with juries, but might have a lesser appeal to the televoters.
So…which of all 41 entries will rank high with both juries and televoters….I guess Bulgaria, Romania, Norway and Malta
Iam rooting for Romania if Roxen manages to improve a little and the staging is good.

May Amun, Ra, Horus, Isis and Osiris ensure that Cleopatra doesn’t win. Running Scared was a nice studio track that was staged well at least. Cleopatra is a great bop but it’s not a well written song objectively. I’m tempted to say Georgia has the best song of the Caucasus region.

Azerbaijan knows how to stage a song. If they managed to elevate all the swedish generic songs they have been sending the last years, they can definitely elevate Cleopatra which is a bop.

Grow by Jeangu comment:
This song has so much meaning it hits you to the bone and comes straight from the heart! The combination of the music with the lyrics and the sympathetic interpreter, are unique. All a song contest needs is represented in the Dutch entry this year. I hope Jeangu keeps it small and simple during his performance. With a gospel choir on stage, he will give the audience three unforgettable minutes! Good luck Jeangu, for me you are allready a winner! I wish all other entries also good luck in Rotterdam.

While there’s one song to be revealed yet, I must confess this is one of the weakest years I remember. Probably since 2010. 2011 or 2013 (2012 was really good in my opinion). I’m not that kind of salty fan that says this just after 3 songs have been revealed. I don’t even care about if they are ballads, bops or whatever. In my opinion there a lot of average songs, some dreadful, some just uninteresting or unoriginal and very few potential winners or even top 10 material. I mean in this weak year, there are some not-that-really-good songs that… Read more »

I don’t see a balad winning again this year..statistically is always the oposite type of song from previous year.
Romania live is dreadful, Switzerland is beautiful but not sure if it can hit those notes live.

I said the same about Switzerland being similar to last year winner and therefore, it is difficult it wins but I find “Repondez-moi” is the best song out in the contest. So Switzerland could still win in my book. Roxen’s vocals for “Alcohol You” were on point, I’m sure Romania will spend some money in a modern and thoughtful performance to elevate it. About Malta I think it has potential to grab points from both the televote and the juries makint it a strong contender. And yeah, probably out of this four I think Bulgaria is the one with fewer… Read more »

Hmm seems like San Marino can win, with only Slovenia and Portugal challenging it, right? hahah Let’s change the countries we talk about a bit. Everyone deserves someone’s likes, and seems like this year has no real stand out. I don’t really see ANY of those top ten by bookies as a better song than each and every of those from 11th to 41st. I think either Bulgaria or Romania is going to have problems staging their act, Bulgaria’s particularly is a really moving song but not one that benefits from just one listen, or two listens. They have to have something that helps convey that message straightaway. I’m not saying it can’t be done, watching Roxen live I have more faith in Bulgaria. I agree I think Switzerland might be being over-hyped. I really don’t think Switzerland is being overhyped. This is the first time I’ve seen it mentioned positively in the sense of being considered top 5/ winner material. Othwise, no one has really been talking about or bigging it up. In all honesty it captivated me from first listen and it is one of the better songs this year. With great, striking staging as good as the music video, it really could be a surprise winner/ top 5 candidate.

If Sweden is outside the top 10 we would still be happy wiht the result. 11-15th is not bad. There are 41 competing. There is no evidence Anis, Anna B or Dotter would have scored better this year.

Looking at the preselection results and at the odds it’s gonna be nerve-wracking. If Dotter or Cicciolina could lose having odds around 50% on their favor I can’t imagine what could happen having a virtual tie for the top 3 and the rest of the top 5 less than 5% away. Unlike the previous years it’s either decided at the rehearsals or anything could happen on the final. Bulgaria is only slightly ahead on polls but you can’t say there’s a favourite but a whole bunch of them.

I agree. But we also should try to limit this “fashionable” Sweden trash talk which has been coming from many fans in the last few years. For christ sake, they produce a 6-week national selection all over the country, which culminates with a final held in front of 30 000 people in the arena! That deserves some credit. Or at least a decency to not talk trash about them all the time.
