While many annual Pride events have been called off this year due to coronavirus precautions, the party has moved online with Global Pride. And Norway’s Eurovision 2019 stars KEiiNO are getting involved by releasing a cover of a Whitney Houston dancefloor classic — and they want their fans to be part of the music video.

For Global Pride, KEiiNO will be covering Whitney Houston’s 1987 dance-pop classic “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)”. The song will be released on 27 June — and KEiiNO have put a call out for fans to be part of the music video.

The Eurovision televote winners have uploaded a 50-second snippet of their new version of the song and have asked fans to submit dance clips to be used in the video. KEiiNO explain that they want to include clips from both amateur and professional dancers and want to feature a diverse range of talent.

But dancers won’t have long to get their videos in. KEiiNO need to receive the videos by this Monday, 8 June — so interested dancers need to get busy this weekend! See KEiiNO’s Instagram post for more information about the submission requirements.

Pride goes online

While parades, concerts and dance parties and other events are regular parts of the annual Pride calendar, this year events in many countries have been called off due to national coronavirus precautions.

But the show must go on, and this year it’s gone online. Global Pride will be held on 27 June, with a 24-hour live stream of Pride events from around the world to celebrate LGBTQ+ communities. The event is organised in collaboration with many national pride organisations.

As well as a performance from KEiiNO, the event will feature appearances from UK Eurovision 1974 star Olivia Newton-John, Australia Decides 2019 finalist Courtney Act, singers Ava Max, Bright Light Bright Light, Deborah Cox, Thelma Houston, Steve Grand, Rachael Sage and Brazilian drag star Pabllo Vittar.

Organisers expect over 300 million viewers to tune into the event.

KEiiNO say that all proceeds from their upcoming single will go to the Global Pride Organisation.

What do you think? Will you do a dance for KEiiNO? And will you tune in for Global Pride? Tell us your thoughts below.

Nice to read that an act is still together long after Eurovision. Lovely genuine people. I wish them all the best.
