Since winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011, Azeri singer Eldar Gasimov has gone from strength to strength. Between presenting on television and hosting on radio, he’s released a string of singles which have had moderate success in his homeland of Azerbaijan, and also abroad, notably Kazakhstan.

Today, he’s the featured vocalist on VoColor’s new single “Until The End”. VoColor is a newly-formed Swedish & Greek EDM/electronic-pop project by Swedish singer-songwriter Sebastian Ekstrand and Greek lyricist Nikos Sofis.

Until The End” is a mid-tempo pop song with electronic flourishes. The song is about feeling misplaced in a world that is two-faced, and attempting to live in a world devoid of life. Despite its rather profound lyrics, the production here is dunked in radio-pop.

After releasing the song a couple of weeks ago, the artists have now uploaded a lyric video for the track in order to highlight its lyrical contents.

VoColor (feat. Eldar) – “Until The End” (Lyric Video)

Speaking exclusively with wiwibloggs, Eldar Gasimov explains his take on the song and its lyrics:

“Life is tough. Sometimes it is especially difficult when we are faced with situations —situations where we need to make decisions. Decisions take up energy, strength and power. We must remember to make smart decisions….because decisions are like road maps. When we journey on difficult roads with our armour and helmets, the most important value is to keep pushing through until the very end.”

Clearly, this song is about choices, and making the right choices until the end. Eldar sings about making the decision to break free from people that have been misleading him: “Lies, lies, lies,
/ Turn away from me / No more lies / Time for you to be leaving”.

In the chorus, the “Running Scared” singer states that he wants to get out of this situation so that he can live at peace and stop fighting his demons: “I don’t wanna be trapped / Inside a world, so fake / Where it all goes wrong / I don’t wanna stay here / Let me live again / Oh, I don’t wanna fight (I don’t fight) / Until the end”.

Outside of VoColor, Nikos Sofis and Sebastian Ekstrand are masters in their own right. They have a number of musical credits to their name.

Sofis, alongside Georgios Kalpakidis, has penned melodies and lyrics for several Eurovision artists including Ana Odobescu, Ovidiu Anton, Koldoun, Omar Naber, Samra and Litesound. Meanwhile, Sebastian Ekstrand fronts an established metalcore band called Escape The Day.

Lyrics: “Until The End” – VoColor (feat. Eldar)

I tried,
Far beyond as the sun goes down,
The sun goes down on me.

I strive,
I wanna see you running,
Far away from me.

Damn your eyes,
You are telling me,
Lies, lies, lies,
Turn away from me,
No more lies,
Time for you to be leaving.

I don’t wanna be trapped,
Inside a world, so fake,
Where it all goes wrong.
I don’t wanna stay here,
Let me live again.

Oh, I don’t wanna fight (I don’t fight),
Until the end,
Oh, I don’t wanna fight (I don’t fight),
Until the end.

I’ve cried,
Like rain just pouring down on me,
Pouring down on me.

God why?
Does this happen to me?
Put an end to this.

Oh your eyes,
You are telling me,
Lies, lies, lies,
Turn away from me,
No more lies,
Time for you to be leaving.

I don’t wanna be trapped,
Inside a world, so fake,
Where it all goes wrong.
I don’t wanna stay here,
Let me live again.

Oh, I don’t wanna fight (I don’t fight),
Until the end,
Oh, I don’t wanna fight (I don’t fight),
Until the end.

In hope of tomorrow,
The sun shines on me,
I feel like I’m drowning in pain,
Just let me be.

I don’t wanna be trapped,
Inside a world, so fake,
Where it all goes wrong.
I don’t wanna stay here,
Let me live again.

Oh, I don’t wanna fight (I don’t fight),
Until the end,
Oh, I don’t wanna fight (I don’t fight),
Until the end.

Am I the only one left who liked ‘Running Scared’? Especially the intro. I don’t think we hear enough from him or Nikki, so well done to Deban for getting this exclusive.

I agree with u, I really like it and there weren’t many winner songs that year, so I lowkey understand the win

“We must remember to make smart decisions”
What a smart advice!
I have another one: We must remember to use brain before we open mouth to speak… remember that Eldar!
Leaving speaking to smarter ones would also be a smart decision 🙂

Yes I have to agree. A pleasant song but not winning material. I also thought that her voice was a little shaky and weak. Having said that there have been worse winners.

The fact that it had lots of YT views in 2011 helped fool ppl into thinking it was “popular” enough to win SMH this triggered 2012 for Sweden to win with Loreen. The people’s voices and legit votes were heard once again in 2013 when Denmark won.
