Allsång på Skansen 2020 Melodifestivalen Singers

It’s the iconic sing-a-long show that is an annual fixture on the Swedish summer calendar. And on Wednesday, the 2020 season of SVT’s Allsång på Skansen came to the end of its eight-episode run.

And while Covid-19 restrictions meant that this year’s series was a strictly audience-free zone, there was no shortage of talent on display.

Several Melodifestivalen 2020 stars were among the featured artists — The Mamas with “Move”, Anna Bergendahl with “Kingdom Come”, Dotter with “Bulletproof” and Anis Don Demina with “Vem e som oss”.

As usual, Melfest veteran Sanna Nielsen was on hosting duty. She frequently took to the stage, including for a very unique re-interpretation of her Eurovision 2014 hit “Undo”. Did someone say accordion?

You can watch all five performances below.

Allsång på Skansen: Melodifestivalen performances

Anna Bergendahl – “Kingdom Come” (Melodifestivalen 2020)

Dotter – “Bulletproof” (Melodifestivalen 2020)

Anis Don Demina – “Vem e som oss” (Melodifestivalen 2020)

Sanna Nielsen – “Undo” (Eurovision 2014)

Former Melodifestivalen and Eurovision personalities also took to the stage to perform other tracks from their back catalogues, including Måns Zelmerlöw, Darin, Danny Saucedo, Robin Stjernberg, Agnes and Lena Philipsson.

Other notable acts to grace the Stockholm stage included Zara Larsson, Miss Li and Peg Parnevik.

You can watch a selection of the Allsång på Skansen 2020 performances on the official SVT YouTube channel.

Alternatively, all eight episodes are available to watch in their entirety on SVT Play. They will remain online until spring 2021 and it is possible to view them worldwide without restrictions.

Scandi pop tweeted this:

Ok ok. It’s starting. These former #Melfest artists were in the studio today, ahead of Melodifestivalen submissions opening.

Faith Kakembo
Klara Hammarström
Liamoo
Dotter
Rebecka Karlsson
Paul Rey

so some of these acts will for sure be in Melfest next year. Super glad about Dotter, Liamoo and Paul Rey (and also Klara deserves to get to AC at least, she was the best NQ this year..)

Dotter deserves an even better song than she got. Me personally, I’m hoping that the every-other-odd-year pattern of Jon Henrik Fjallgren songs continues. Sweden need to get out of their comfort zone a little, and the last two years they’ve been inching closer and closer by experimenting with gospel and R&B-inflected pop. They need to follow Norway’s lead and get in on some Sami action!

Sweden did get in on some Sami action twenty years ago with Roger Pontare, to be fair…

Yeah, I’ll give you that, but neither song was as good as Jag ar fri. The tragedy of that song was competing the same year as Heroes. If it’d come any year – if we had to sacrifice, say, “You” and it competed in 2013 – I’d be happy. But as it stands, it was a victim of being a very good song against an even better song.

It’s a shame we don’t have the tradition of having the year’s Eurovision winner perform for obvious reasons. Still, always a good time!

Dotter looks so pretty in this video. Lovely hair. And, as always, I love Anna’s voice. She needs to get her redemption at some point.

I discovered it some month ago as a YouTube suggestion, then I watched many performances from ESC starts and I have to say it seems to be an interesting concept. It also looks like this production is widespread in Nordic countries, how could the titel of the show be translated in English and is there someone who know in which countries the programm already exists ?

It’s basically a sing-along-show, that is the title and purpose of the show. Famous singers come on, sing one or two of their songs and then a classic Swedish summer song while the audience sings along. Though thi yer was weird without the audience..
There is a Norwegian version taking place on the border between our countries, also shown here. I know Germany ahs something similar to this as well!
