Earlier this week, Israel’s Eurovision broadcaster KAN confirmed the three songs Eden Alene will sing in the national final HaShir HaBa: “La La Love”, “Set Me Free”, and “Ue La La”. Now, after teasing us with snippets of her singing the three tunes, KAN has dropped the full and final versions with Eden’s glorious voice. That leads us to one very important question: Which song do you think she should sing at Eurovision 2021?
HaShir HaBa 2021: The final versions of Eden Alene’s three songs
On Tuesday, KAN released the full versions of the three songs Eden will perform in the upcoming national final HaShir HaBa. This comes after the Monday reveal of 20-second snippets of the studio cuts. In an earlier preview, Eden sang short portions of each song in a “Carpool Karaoke” style.
Israeli Eurovision site EuroMix claimed that some of the songwriters were unhappy with that carpool video, as Eden appeared to show a clear favourite — “La La Love” — and even forgot some of the lyrics for “Ue La La”. Whoops!
KAN originally intended to release the official versions of the full songs on KAN Gimmel Radio on 18 January. The plan also included revealing three official music videos, which KAN is currently producing. The public will be able to vote on the songs from the 19th until the live show on the 25th.
Here are the official studio cuts of the three entries, which Israel Hayom revealed on Tuesday.
“La La Love”
The “La La Love” revamp was the most subtle of the three, focusing mostly on small instrumental improvements. Seemingly Eden’s favourite based on the car snippets, it now gives Eden much more room to slay the stage.
“Set Me Free”
“Set Me Free” has been given a Mizrahi pop twist and additional string instruments. Its bridge, which previously had unfulfilled potential, has been revamped entirely, and new lyrics were added. The song now includes a sharp key change that could resonate with juries.
“Ue La La”
“Ue La La”, one of the early fan favourites, is now almost unrecognisable. The song is in an entirely different key, a full minute longer, and features a very different set of instruments. Fans of the original version of the song may find themselves disappointed with the changes, but the song has also earned some new fans. The lyrics of the track were also largely altered.

“I don’t need no medication, I just want to infect my generation” might not be the smartest lyric choice in La La Love… But nevertheless, UE LA LA should be it.
Ue La La is really different and will stand out the most but might be the hardest to stage. La La Love is incredibly catchy and has the right balance, great song and staging potential. Set Me Free hits me in the feels for sure, its the weakest out of the 3 but still a definite qualifier. Overall these songs are way better than last year’s. Israel definitely has some great composers!
I think last year Eden could won ESC with literally any song. This year IS NOT BAD but also not amazing like last year. And Eden is by far one of the best artists in last year and probably this year as well. So I do hop Ue La La will win and they will revamp a little more and stage well.
My favorite out of the 9 was Spilling Magic. But out of these three, Set Me Free or La La Love are the best choices.
Nothing can beat Roots for me. Was my favourite of all Eurovision season songs last year (Narrowly above Bulletproof)!

I think it can have really fun staging and if done right can maybe do a lot better than most people seem to think.
It should be added though that all three of these songs are going to need to have some excellent staging if they want to become sure qualifiers
Echoing the sentiment that none of these songs can top Feker Libi or any of the NF songs from last year, but these are much improved from the demos. Mostly because of how much Eden adds to the songs. Ue La La – has the best production of the three and has the most non-English in it, but its sound really isn’t my cup of tea. This is a difficult choice to make…
Between “Ue la la” and “La la love”, I prefer the latter better, but “Ue la la” is mostly in Hebrew, and I miss how Israel used to sing in mostly Hebrew in Eurovision. So yeah, I think “Ue la la” must go to Rotterdam, but nonetheless very hard.

Am i the only one who likes SET ME FREE, orchestration and vocals reminds me of Ofra Haza. Love the song, This version is better than demo. On the other hand Ue La La was better in its original demo form.
I voted for Ue La La! I know it has been said a lot already but (in my opinion) Shoulders topped all of these songs and the selection last year was stronger. However, we are in 2021 now and I’m really looking forward to seeing how Eden performs these songs live. Israel knows how to stage a song so I wouldn’t count her out just yet 🙂

So the songs have some interesting parts in them mostly the choruses. But they all are fairly repetitive and don’t make much of an impact. Honestly it’s not a good selection but the stage performances can always surprise us

To be honest none of them. “Feker lebi” wasn’t a masterpiece but it is miles above these. For some reason Eden’s voice sound too high pitched in these songs, to the point that I find it unpleasant.

Set me Free is ok but it hasn’t the wow moment
Ue La La is also repetitive, with bad lyrics…The only interesting is the music

UE la la has the all package ??. Very catchy and it has great high notes for the jury!! Finally Eddn can show her vocal potential. Also i love those ethnic sounds, mistery atmosphere, and 3 languages.
The other songs are nice, i like to hear them, but they are very forgettable between 26 songs in Rotterdam. I will vote for Israel if Ue la la goes to Eurovision.
Unless they can figure out some outstanding staging for Ue La La I think it’ll unfortunately be a non qualification this year. They’re just not strong songs especially being compared to Feker Libi 🙁
Obviously none of these songs are iconic masterpieces that will win songwriting competitions, but the 2021 degrees line in Set Me Free is genuinely great especially with how Eden sings it.
1st. Ue La La – the revamp definitely patched up a lot of the issues I had with this. It went from having vibes of Netta to sounding like a Rihanna track (especially in the chorus) but still maintaining a unique sound that Eden seems to fit into very well. The key-change is a bit excessive when comparing this version to the demo, but if Eden can hit those notes, she’ll make magic in Rotterdam. (8.25/10) 2nd. For me, “Ue La La” is the really bad one that is just a complete no, “Set Me Free” is the inoffensive but not very good one and “La La Love” is the one that *could* qualify, maybe…but is just ok at best.None of these songs were in my top three based on the demos and none of these songs are as good as any in Israel’s selection last year.
I’m all in for Set Me Free!!! It is a real ear worm and that’s all that matters in Eurovision. Also Eden is a total queen abs I can’t wait to see her preform these songs as her performance and infectious smile elevates all songs!!
To me La La Love feels like the biggest let down. It’s fun but it’s also very repetitive and nothing happens. I wasn’t bored while listening to it but what stands out to me are those awful lyrics. I know the desease in this song is actually love but ,,…I want it to infect my generation. Party till the morning…” just don’t sit right with me. All three of these sound kind of messy and repetitive to me tbh. I would say maybe la la love is the best bet but uhhh…those lyrics really need to change. As of now as many others have said they’re a bit tone deaf given the current times we are living in. Ue la la might grow on me eventually but…as of now I don’t like it very much. Actually now that I’ve given the three of these another listen, “set me free” is my clear favorite of the three of them, and I’m actually beginning to like listening to it. I know my opinion is not popular though and I am fully prepared for disappointment when the song inevitably places third. I still do not like Ue la la. I get bored of listening to it really fast and it’s very obviously the most repetitive sounding one. I really enjoy La La Love and Set Me Free, but ever they got selected the need to revamp something out of the two: the Cov related lyrics for La La Love and cleaning the arrangement for Set Me Free. They’re good songs, but not that great. Eden’s voice, however, lifts them immensely.
It is criminal that Shoulders did not make the superfinal of the selection as it would have fit Eden’s vocal prowess so seemlessly, was musically dynamic, and embraced both Mizrahi and Amharic styles. Shoulders was the superior successor to Feker Libi. End of story.
I don’t like the 3 songs. They are all horrible.

I voted for Ue La La here, but not I’m not thrilled with any of the choices. 1) Ue La La — gets points from me for being mostly non-English, and is hugely improved with Eden’s vocals. But why the French and overly simplistic lyrics? 2) La La Love — a fun song, and Eden clearly likes it. Would be my top pick if the lyrics weren’t ridiculously tone deaf. 3) Set Me Free — Eden sounds great, but there’s nothing particularly notable about this song. On the stage Ue La La will be FIREEEE!!! with dancers and fireworks, OMG she’s gonna SLAY the **** up!
In sum: Israel wants to participate, but they’re not trying to host again, yet.
La La Love – I hate the ending, she’s screaming and it sounds bad, really bad, no final with this one..
Set Me Free – It’s boring, the vocal is nice but I really don’t like the retro vibe!
Ue La La – VOCAL!! DAMN! at the last part of the song it was amazing! and I love the sexy vibe, it’s very easy to remember, VERY CATCHY! it’s the best option.
Parts of Set Me Free are like Levitating, by Dua Lipa. Maybe that’s just me.
All of them are weak…. Weaker than all her previous songs from their national final in 2020….

As expected, the songs sound richer in instrumental and Eden’s voice really elevates them. Still, there is so much you can do without completely altering them. I actually admire them for keeping La La Love’s lyrics intact. Some of them are so painfully bad that I almost enjoy them…. You don’t need to be an expert to have a reaction to a song. Suzanne’s reaction might even be more interesting, because she’s more representative of the viewers at home – the people who will actually be voting.
You really think the Eurovision voters at home are experts, no, it doesn’t matter if you are an expert or not to react to a song!
@cameron the judges are “experts” and count for 50% of the points.
She mentions Efendi and Montaigne and Feker Libi…so she’s more of an expert than you give her credit for.
She’s also going off the demos and not the newly released tracks sung by Eden. So I’d just love to hear William’s reaction to these.
All are mediocre, Shoulders was the best of the demos and its absence from the final is criminal. Of those three, La La Love has the biggest chance to do relatively well. It’s fun and catchy, complements Eden’s voice and has those dancy instrumental parts that can be used for an effective staging. They should take whoever was in charge the staging of Roots‘ performance last year, it was really good. Oh, and they’ll have to tweak the lyrics in the chorus.
