Francesca Michielin Fedez Sanremo 2021

New lockdown restrictions in Italy are providing a logistical headache for Sanremo 2021 organisers. However, for now, the Festival is still slated to run from 2 to 6 March. And even though we have yet to hear any of the songs, the bookies have already released odds for this year’s competition.

And there’s a familiar face out in front — Francesca Michielin & Fedez.

Sanremo Festival 2021 Odds: Francesca Michielin & Fedez favourites to win

According to several betting outfits, including Unibet, the current favourites to take the Sanremo crown — with the option of heading to Rotterdam — are Francesca Michielin & Fedez.

The “Chiamami per nome” duo are currently trading on Unibet at odds of 3.5Francesca, of course, represented Italy at Eurovision 2016 with “No Degree Of Separation”. However, she only got to the song contest because Sanremo 2016 winners Stadio declined the opportunity. So she must surely have victory in her sights for her sophomore attempt.

She’s joined forces with Fedez, who’s debuting in the Festival. The two have previously collaborated on “Cigno nero” and “Magnifico”.

Sanremo 2021: Other favourites

In second place is Måneskin. The “Zitti e buoni” quartet can be backed at odds of  5:5.

The pop-rock group finished as runners-up on X Factor Italy in 2017. Led by the voice of Damiano David, they make their debut at Sanremo attempting to repeat the success of their 2018 triple-platinum album Il ballo della vita, which included the hit “Torno a casa”.

Next is Irama. If you want to place money on the “La genesi del tuo colore” singer, his odds are 8:00.

This is his third participation in Sanremo. Irama won the 17th edition of the talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi. He returns to the competition after the successful summer hits “Arrogante” and “Mediterranea”.

While it’s fun to look through the bookies’ figures, it’s important to remember that these are just odds. And they’re likely to change once the songs are revealed and as the Festival progresses. This time last year, Diodato was only 11th with the bookies while they had Alberto Urso at one. Urso ultimately placed 14th.

How the odds work

The decimal odds number represents the amount you win for every krone/euro/dollar bet. The number represents the total payout, rather than the profit. Your stake is already included in the decimal number.

Taking odds of 1.90 as an example, for every €1.00 you bet, you will get back €1.90 if you win. This includes 90 cents profit plus your original one euro bet.

Bookmakers set odds by looking at factors such as prior form, statistics, historical precedents, expert opinion and any number of other elements which could influence the result in question. After this analysis, the bookies will be left with what they deem to be the most accurate possible true odds of any outcome occurring. As these factors are always shifting, the bookies’ odds will remain in flux.

Don’t hate me for it but No degree of separation was a very beautiful song. Should have been at least top 10!

In my opinion it was the worst entry by Italy since their return, having said that it’s better than some countries best entries…..

I hope Annalissa comes back with another hit like “Una Finestra Tra le Stelle” (2015), her best Sanremo entry so far.  As this article say, Diodato was only 11th with the bookies while they had Alberto Urso at one. Urso ultimately placed 14th. I honestly don’t understand how could they prefer him over Diodato. He was such a clear winner…

Fingers crossed for Måneskin, I found out their existence here, in an article about sanremo 2021, and their music is astounding. They quickly became one of my favorite non english bands.
