Saturday 6 February: Eurovision 2021 Selection Shows

Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2021

Semi-Final 4

Time: 19:50 CET to 21:10 CET

This evening’s fourth semi will see performances from four acts — KiiM, Marianne Petha & Mikkel Gaup, Royane and Landeveiens Helter. A series of duels will reduce this number to just one finalist. They’ll join the other semi-final qualifiers, one wildcard and six pre-qualified finalists in the grand final. Atle Pettersen — one of the automatic qualifiers — will also showcase his entry tonight.

Lithuania’s Pabandom is naujo! 2021

Grand Final

Time: 20:00 CET to 22:00 CET

After the marathon selections of the 2010s, it’s hard to credit that we’ve reached the final Lithuania’s 2021 selection. Six acts will compete for the chance to succeed The Roop as Pabandom is naujo! champs… including The Roop themselves. Of the other acts, Gebrasy is seen as their biggest competition. He’s the only act to top both the jury and public vote during the qualifying rounds. The Roop bypassed those stages.

Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2021

Semi-Final 1

Time: 20:00 CET to 21:30 CET

It’s one of the most anticipated national selections of the season. And the 2021 edition of Melodifestivalen is sure to start with a bang. Tonight’s big prize will be two spots in the grand final for the top acts, with the next two getting passes to Andra Chansen. The remaining three will be eliminated. This first semi features names like Danny Saucedo, Jessica Andersson and Paul Rey.

Congrats to The Roop! Well done. 😉

Also congrats to Gebrasy to properly challenge them. He’s likely my NF non-winning songs 1st place now!

Gebrasy has a great song, but it is a bit derivative (e.g. Tracy Chapman- Fast Car, Matchbox 20- City Lights). I am not throwing shade, I genuinely like the song, and without the Roop, it would be a no-brainer to pick him for Rotterdam. But Roop’s “Discotheque” is ground breaking, it is completely original, and on top of everything, it completely captures the zeitgeist. One more thing: when will Lithuania ever be on top of the betting odds again? Simply for that, Lithuanians need to take a chance for Kaunas 2022.
