sanremo

Italy’s iconic Sanremo Music Festival 2021 starts on Tuesday 2 March and continues for five nights until the final on Saturday 6 March. Local fans can catch the festival by switching their televisions to RAI 1 while international viewers can watch online.

Here’s when and how you can watch Sanremo online.

Watch Festival di Sanremo 2021 online

RAI will stream all five nights of Sanremo on RAIPlay.

Typically, the on-demand player is geo-blocked for viewers outside Italy. However, RAI usually lifts restrictions during the live shows.

All performances are uploaded to YouTube immediately after the broadcast. Alas, RAI usually removes them shortly after the last night of the Festival.

The last four newcomers — top two from Tuesday and top two from Wednesday — will also sing their entries.

Fifth evening: The final — Saturday 6 March

Time: 20:45 CET to 01:30 CET

The 26 acts will perform their songs one final time. By the end of the night, we will have a new Sanremo champion.

Unlike other Eurovision-related festivals, the winner will not necessarily be the act that goes to the song contest. Before the contest, acts are required to tell the broadcaster whether they would be willing to represent Italy at Eurovision or not. If the Sanremo winner has agreed to do Eurovision, they’ll get the ticket to Rotterdam. If not, RAI will internally select one of the other competitors.

I’m conscious of the relevance of San Remo as a festival, but i find it soooo boring, outdated, endless… i am definitely not going to spend 25 hours of my week watching that, don’t have enough vodka for doing it

Irama has needed a Covid test, so Noemi is going on tonight instead.

I love the quality of music from Sanremo, but about 25 hours of viewing time this week on 1 selection feels a lot of commitment, especially when my Italian spands to just about ‘caio’! I wish RAI would allow international viewers to watch it on catch up and not just live, could skip some of the very longggg talking between performances.

Trust me, we Italians would skip most of the talking too ahahah It gets worse with time, the show finishes later every year… @-@

Only 13 songs, 5 hours, it’s going to be a very very very long evening…..

Don’t follow all the 5 nights but just the last one. Very simple.
Curious to know if you have followed Mf started a month ago. Or the Norwegian selection. With all the duels, battles. semifinals ect ect these selections are longer than Sanremo.

Hmm I don’t think they are longer at all if you count the hours! Plus they are spread out in weekly shows which makes it a lot nicer to follow.

I don’t think.
You don’t have to watch all the nights. You can watch the final and have all the songs together and the winner s too. Only 5 h
MF it is longer. If you want to listen to all the songs you have to follow the eliminations, semifinals, duels and battles because if you watch only the final night you ll lose the ones eliminated during the almost two long months.
It’s a pure commercial tactic.
The samd that RAI uses making a 5 h show each night.

Yes I’ve followed the Melfest and the MGP, and each shows lasted 1 hour and a half, and in Melfest you had 9 performances during this time even more if you add the interval acts so yeah there’s a difference here.
And I’m not talking about the 5 evenings, I’m talking about today and tomorrow mainly but yeah I admit that even with the 26 songs in the same evenings it will be very long, cause after all it’s San Remo, it’s the tradition.

Basically if you want to listen to all the Sanremo songs and to know about the winner you have to watch a 5 h show, the last night.
It’s not the same for MF and MGP.
if you want to listen to all the songs you have to watch all the nights spread into mostly two months.

Actually, it might still be going on when I wake up in the morning here….so I might just catch the end and then go back to watch the performances afterwards.
It looks like it’s going to be a long one. Looking forward to it though!
