Eric Saade Tusse Clara Klingenstrom Melodifestivalen 2021

The class of 2021 trickled into the Swedish singles charts last week. And now the tide is rising as we get ever closer to the grand final of Melodifestivalen 2021. The latest Sverigetopplistan update has four Melfest finalists inside the top ten, three of which are in the top five. A further 14 acts from this year’s contest are in the top 50.

Melodifestivalen 2021 finalists in the charts

Tusse strengthens his chart supremacy with “Voices”, climbing five places from #8 to #3. His closest competition remains Eric Saade with “Every Minute”. The four-time Mello finalist climbs from #10 to #4. The Swedish top five is rounded out by the surprise package of this year’s competition — Clara Klingenström.

The “Behöver inte dig idag” songstress started out the series as a relative unknown, yet her star has grown progressively brighter as she made it through the semi-finals and andra chansen. She’s jumped a massive 26 places from last week and is now comfortably outperforming more established hitmakers such as Danny Saucedo, Dotter and The Mamas.

Saucedo is the only other Mello act inside this week’s top 10. “Dandi Dansa” just squeaks in at #10. Last year’s top two are immediately behind him with “Little Tot” at #11 and “In The Middle” at #12. Andra Chansen qualifier Alvaro Estrella is at #13 with “Baila Baila”.

Two eliminated acts can also be found inside the top 20. They are Emil Assergård and WAHL feat. Sami. “Om allting skiter sig” and “90-talet” are at #16 and #19 respectively.

You can check out the full chart positions of Melodifestivalen 2021 acts below.

Clara is the one singing with her heart. Even if I don’t understand Swedish I can connect with her.

I would be happy with Clara winning as it happens. I think sonically she is the only one giving something that seems fresh and Sweden haven’t actually done Swedish since I wanna say 1998? (Omg I just googled that and I was right! I need to get out more…)

And outside of Sweden, Swedish was last heard as late as 2012, almost 10 years ago now, when Finland’s first UMK winner performed a song in that language. 🙂

Tusse is the only song which can have a decent place in Rotterdam, even winning!

i read here and in other threads often this or that song can not win or reach the final in rotterdam.
why is that so important in sweden?
too much media pressure or influence?
here in germany we have other problems because nobody really cares about the ESC. 😀

teamklara wishing her a good place maybe in the first half. 🙂
teamclara & teamdotter here too – the problem is maybe there is one too many to get enough votes in the televote to make the big sensation coming true.

This year Melfest was a bit of a letdown for me because I did not particularly like any of the songs… Nevertheless I would always choose to give someone who has not been to Eurovision the chance to go!

I do not care enough about his song, to be honest… is it a crime? But I don’t care about many others neither so… I will always support the entry of someone who has not been to Eurovision, regardless of who people like the most.

I’m a non-swede who has no bias and it looking at this from an objective standpoint and how I would vote at Eurovision. I realize a lot of Swedes don’t care about Eurovision and only vote for who they want to win MF. Tusse is a borderline qualifier. It’s entirely generic and forgettable. Dotter as well, unless she does something unique to fix the staging. Mamas would likely qualify but would end up in the bottom half of the final. Eric would be top 10 at Eurovision. He’s the big standout here. This is my honest assessment.

I left out Clara. I personally really like this song. It’s the hardest one to predict. My sense is that it wouldn’t qualify but who knows?

Eric’s song is absolutely horrendous, who wrote this silly lyrics, and his so called dance moves looks really pathetic… how the hell he is fan favorite? *facepalm*
my favs are Mamas and Clara, but I wouldn’t be sad if Dotter or Tusse wins

The broader Eurovision audience does not care about lyrics. And most would disagree your assessment of Eric’s dance moves. This is objectively a top 10 at Eurovision. Of course you are still entitled to not like it.

7th is a really good place so if we get there again its good. Also Eric came in 3rd with silly lyrics so lyrics doesnt matter. And just because Ingrosso did poorly with voters doesnt mean Eric will.

Am I the one who thinks Clara could be the surprise in Sweden? Her hype is growning and growning and even being a Dotter fan and shes my first choice, Clara is day by day becoming my personal fave. Her main problem is that her song is in swedish and thats not very appealing to international juries but in a year with no favourite I really think Clara could make it

Clara is the most original and authentical entry of all the swedish list!! She frees herself and Sweden from their self created always Winnersvibes. All those produced and created plastic formats what Sweden have become over the yeras!! Clara comes, sings and create a new space. A breath of fresh air!! I hope the people vote for her!! A new beginning and The Birth of an new Age

I agree with you. It’s the most genuine. I don’t think it’s Eurovision material, but it’s one of those songs that could end up doing surprisingly well.

For a Swedish person Clara’s song is a typical Swedish sing-writer stuff. Not original at all. The lyrics are not that interesting either. She is nice but the whole thing lacks something. We have many artists who are into this kind of music but are so much better. I hope it will not win.

Milla

Also.. why Clara? I mean lets be realistic, Sweden hardly won’t qualify with that song. Genuine, but the song is not for Eurovision. It’s too much for swedish ears and for desperate fans seeking for something different all the time. But for the casual voter..no.

I would be happy with Dotter, Clara, Charlotte or The Mamas winning (obviously most of them are extremely unlikely). Tusse is alright but painfully average. But more than anything I hope that Eric doesn’t win. The staging might be kind of cool and different but the song is absolutely terrible.

The only thing that is really stopping Clara from triumphing is a way GENERIC “simple” staging, it looks as she aslmost doesn’t care for her placing. With a MUCH better staging, she would actualy stand a chance of winning!

Last years only 2016 and 2019 did the highest charting Mellofest song actually win. In 2017 Wiktoria topped, 2018 Sandman and 2020 Dotter. So it’s not that telling. But it can give you indications which songs will do well.

You are right. But you should also pay attention to the percentiges on the bookies odds. Tusse is way ahead of everyone with over 50%. The previous years when the top acts didn’t win, they weren’t this clear on the top of the list, it was with much smaller percentage chances, something to bare in mind

Denis

Last year Dotter had 51%. And she still lost. So it means nothing. Whoever wins will win with small margin, even Tusse. There won’t be runaway win this year.

I know many international fans are calling for “Dotterdam” but honestly it keeps seeming like that is less and less of a reality. I will be happy with most of these choices honestly, but it is interesting to see the clear contrast between the international fans’ choices (Dotter) and the more domestic fans (Tusse and Eric). It’ll be interesting to see how the international jury plays into it

She seems so genuine, so pure. She was so shocked to hear her name announced as a qualifying act 😀 It’s always nice to see ordinary looking people doing great, as it gives a hope to everyone (majority) out there. Those way too profesional acts (Dotter, Eric etc) even though are very good, stil lack in that sincerity that Clara brings to the table. I soooo DON’T like Clara’s song the most, and still would be so happy if she win 😀 That says a lot 🙂

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how you perform the charts or how high you are in the odds. What matters tomorrow night is the quality of your life performance. If you kill it, you will be rewarded, but if you flop, you’re out.Good luck to everybody tomorrow night. May the best Swedish artist win.

At the end of the day, it does matter how you perform in the charts. Because there will be 11 losers tomorrow, so having a big hit is actually a nice bit of pain relief for them. Melfest is a huge platform for all artists competing. Especially for artists like Clara, who will benefit from participating for many years to come, regardless if she wins or not.
