Very soon, the class of Eurovision 2021 will be headed to The Netherlands. And moments before rehearsals begin, Israel’s Eden Alene is warming up with a farewell concert before she jets off for Rotterdam. Live from the DCity media complex, the “Set Me Free” singer performed an acoustic version of her Eurovision 2021 entry for the first time.
This is Eden’s first live performance of the Israeli entry for Eurovision 2021, to which she will fly with the Israeli delegation this Saturday 8 May. Accompanied by Shimon Yahya on guitar, Eden performed the acoustic version of her Eurovision 2021 song live from DCity — where she filmed the “Set Me Free” music video.
Israel Eurovision 2021: Eden Alene — Set Me Free (Acoustic Version)
“Set Me Free” wasn’t the only Eurovision song to be heard at the event. Eden also tackled two very different song contest classics from recent years — Eleni Foureira’s “Fuego” and Duncan Laurence’s “Arcade”. BeyoncĂ©’s “Listen” was also part of the set. You can watch the full 12-minute concert here.

In recent days, Eden has been working around the clock in daily rehearsals on her stage performance for Rotterdam, as well as conducting dozens of interviews for the international media.
“I am happy and excited that the moment has finally come”, Eden said in a press release. “After the cancellation of last year’s Eurovision and all the difficulties along the way there were moments when I thought the Eurovision Song Contest will be cancelled again and it feels great to be able to stand on the big stage in Rotterdam and represent Israel in the best way”.
Israel’s first rehearsal on the Eurovision stage will take place on Sunday 9 May at 14:40 Israel time. At this time, journalists and fans will see for the first time the “Set Me Free” choreography and staging, as well as Eden dress, designed by the famous Israeli designer Alon Livne and the stylist Itay Bezaleli.
At Eurovision, Eden Alene will perform “Set Me Free” starting 12th in the first semi-final.
What do you think? Did you enjoy Eden’s farewell concert? Let us know in the comments below.Â
Not gonna lie, I’m a bit disappointed by these performances. Weird pronunciations and growls, screechy and squeaky high notes, bad dynamics, overall quite pitchy and no whistle notes in ‘Set Me Free’. Eden is a great vocalist so I don’t know what happened here. Hope she manages to pull through in Rotterdam.
Maybe she was too tired because that day she sang full of songs at once
I haven’t heard a lot of other performers live. Most ‘live’ renditions are still pre-recorded and tuned.
you people are f mad
Her pronounciation is all about serving african vibes, that’s who and what she’s all about, and it’s beautiful
set me free was done accousticly, so let’s ignore the fact that a whistle note will not fit an accoustic version, she couldn’t get enough breath anyway to do it because she did her own backing vocals!
and the Arcade cover was amazing.
Out of tune, too loud, screamy, had so much trust in her.. Love the song but I’m afraid she’s gonna bomb so bad unfortunately.. Why cover Arcade when it’s too hard for you..
No idea if corona damaged my brain after reading comments below. But what I heard and saw was not very pleasant. Poor thing.
I think you’re a poor thing if you allow yourself to call someone like that
“I’m so awesome, come and get some, what are livin’ FOY. I’m your reason, spicy season, like we did beFOY”. where did that come from? Maybe from the first version where you hear Eden pronounce: Oh, Oh, Oh Oy, I’m gonna make it on my own…Oh, Oh, Oh Oy, Halas eem Hashiga’on. She completely caught me by surprise with that high-pitched vocal sound with a trilling quality on ‘FUEGO’ (2:26). It’s called a ‘Ululation’ and is mostly used by Arab women to express celebration and joy. Would have been a lot of fun if applied on ‘Set me Free’. At… Read more »
Eden did ululation on her acoustic version of Feker Libi that she did a year ago for the Wiwijam at Home party. Check it out – it works really well.
She is a dark horse top 10.
Yeah, exactly, I just couldn’t stand Arcade precisely for that whining factor, however, Eden somehow managed to uplift the song and make it, dare I say, beautiful?
Wow. That must be the first ever rendition of Arcade that I can say I actually liked (and I really dislike Duncan’s original version), so kudos to Eden.
Her Arcade cover is EPIC.
So talented, maybe one of the most charismatic artists this year…
Too bad the song doesn’t reflect her abilities (vocally yes, but overall… no)
Overall big yes for me
She is honestly so talented. Was a huge fan of Feker Libi and I really like Set Me Free. Hope she can make it to the final
LOL you are kind of funny until you wrote about Sweden.
Tusse is amazing vocalist kind of remind me of Tracy Chapman.
Sweden can be the dark horse this year.
He can’t be a dark horse when he’s just outside the top5 in the odds
Odds can changes Eleni Foureira someone??
Of tusse?
Tusse had a surgery on his vocal chords.Afterwards he had to sing on Unicef galan that is why his voice did not sound good in his last performance. He can sing he proved it on Melodifestivalen.
A beautiful performance if she sings “Arcade “. Well done Eden !!
Also if she sings set me free
Wow beautiful voice and location. Was it shot in Tel Aviv, Israel?
Perfection voice and beauty!!!!!!!!! Good luck to our sweet and amazing Eden.
Indeed she is Israel’s golden women 🙂
