Slovenia Ana Soklic First Rehearsal Eurovision 2021

Slovenia’s Ana Soklic has taken to the stage inside Ahoy Rotterdam for her first rehearsal of Eurovision 2021. She’s wearing her EMA outfit. But will she reach the heavens at Eurovision 2021? Let’s see….

Slovenia’s Ana Soklic “Amen” — Eurovision 2021 first rehearsal

Padraig: The LED background starts with lots of lights, almost like stars. The image zooms out to reveal the world from space. After The Roop remained on the main stage, Ana becomes the first act to utilise the ramp. She finishes the song on the satellite stage, complete with some spectacular LED floor effects. While we were teased a revamp of sorts, nothing major seems to have changed, save for perhaps a few extra vocal flourishes. There was only one significant difference between the two run-throughs shown to the press. In the first, Ana loses her heels just as she starts to walk down the ramp. It’s unclear whether this is intentional or not. Admittedly, it did look like Ana got tangled up in her train during the first take. So, maybe, it was a practical choice rather than a stylistic one.

Oliver: Prior to rehearsals, Ana announced she’d sing a newly revamped version of “Amen”. This version is less of a revamp and more of a re-organising. There are some structural changes, which feel somewhat jarring if you’re used to the old version — but ultimately make no difference to the quality of the song. Vocally, she nailed it. And even though it’s the kind of thing we’ve seen before, the visuals are pleasant too — a ball of golden light radiates splinters of gold, adding a warm glow to the performance and a stronger angelic vibe when compared to the dull blue tones of her first live performance. Jurors will certainly respect the vocal, but qualification isn’t certain just yet.

William: Ana’s song requires some very special staging to make it through the final, and I’m afraid this didn’t deliver. The background is lovely — the world lights up with golden lights, sort of like a telecomms commercial showing phone connections. But at the same time it was a little seen-it-all-before. The moment I struggle with most is when Ana tries to service sass, saying “Come on!” and “everybody!” Our girl is not Beyoncé or Charli XCX so it felt forced.

Dated song, great vocals, nice background…and dangerous steps (she tripped over once).
Possible NQ…but not certainly.

Beautiful, Powerful and Professional singer! One of the best vocals in the competition.

A ‘shame’ this semi final is so strong cause she gave a powerful performance with (of course) near perfect vocals and good staging and she deserves to qualify. The rest is just strong too… She definitely has a chance but being second isn’t doing her any favors. Wish her all the best.

The staging elevated the song and it can definitely qualify with the right performance. But i have watched the short clip on youtube and it looks like her cape is distracting her and does not let her move around freely, i hope they get rid of it so Anna can perform better

She’s so talented, I hope she qualifies. I love her outfit!

I hope Switzerland doesn’t use a celestial background too.

Ana looks and sounds perfect, but based on the pics and the video I’m with William on this one, it looks like a telecom commercial.

Also, where’s Slovenia in your ranking this year? She’s my 3rd, potentially 2nd after this rehearsal.

Before were the Greeks…now the Christians. It is your specialty to offend people, nations, religions…isn’t it ?

I love Greek people I was just mad that the Greek Eurofans keep hyping their average entries and I have nothing against normal Christians but I hate the message of this song and I hate the praise hallelujah we are glorious

Also my 1st. My OGAE vote got her nowhere sadly and I’m a little disappointed at who came top (Malta).
