San Marino's Senhit - Eurovision 2021 First Rehearsal

San Marino’s Senhit has had her first rehearsal of “Adrenalina” at Eurovision 2021. However, her superstar collaborator Flo Rida didn’t join her today. How did she fare without him? Let’s see…

San Marino’s Senhit “Adrenalina” — Eurovision 2021 first rehearsal

Padraig: Senhit has been serving look after look for the best part of a year now with her Freaky Trip to Rotterdam campaign. And the Eritrean-Italian Sammarinese singer serves us two very distinct outfits in Ahoy. The song opens to Senhit’s face surrounded by elaborately decadent Byzantine-esque religious iconography. It gives off similar vibes to her “Amar Pelos Dois” music video. But all this is quickly dispensed with to reveal Senhit in a costume with black harem pants and puffy sleeves. Her dancers are dressed in white suits and balaclavas. They have red boots and almost resemble aliens. Flo Rida was a no show. However, the stand-in did a competent job. The official Eurovision commentary suggests that we may still see the bikini show judge at a later stage. With or without Mr Rida, the package is definitely one of San Marino’s strongest ever.

Oliver: If you’re at all familiar with the work of Luca Tommassini, this performance is his whole aesthetic summarised into a lovely three minute snapshot. The plethora of looks shouldn’t work together, but they do. Senhit’s headpiece from the opening is perhaps a little extra but even then it works well as a moment to grasp the viewer’s attention. And juxtaposed with the colour blocking graphics, this is a complete visual feast. Nothing to fault vocally, either. Senhit can sing great, move great and look great while doing it. All round, this is a great show opener.

The official Eurovision commentary suggests that we may still see the bikini show judge at a later stage. –> they are really trying to drag this rumour as much as they can to keep the hype! How is it possible that Flo Rida can travel to Rotterdam and Montaigne no?

Because Australia are completely OTT with restrictions while America is more sensible

but i thought there were restrictions in flights from Europe to US? Also, isn’t it a bit dangerous for Senhit to catch the virus from Flo Rida?

Not if he’s vaccinated.

The States just don’t a give a single -uck about travel restrictions so the bikini judge is good to go.

which also explains why there’s an International Bikini Competition taking place in Miami for Flo to judge

Not sure Flo Rida will be there but it could be a publicity stunt only.

I appreciate his creative approach in the music video but he failed to replicate the vibe in the stage. The headpiece looks random, itwould have made sense if the song was about something else but it is random for Adrenalina. Also, Senhit’s outfit is too dark, why? The worst of all is how they dressed the dancers with those scary masks that remind me of Albania 2009. WHY WHY WHY?? Why guys? What’s the meaning behind it? it looks ridiculous. sorry 🙁 the performance is not as polished as I was hoping it would be. I know San Marino will… Read more »

I was expecting more bright colors for this one and the staging as a whole seems a little random. But at least has several elements to separate San Marino from the rest of the pack. Senhit looks comfortable, I like her enthusiasm for the whole Eurovision journey.

She’s been wonderful hasn’t she. She’s become a Eurovision icon for me—she’s carved out a real niche for herself as a fan and contributing artist of Eurovision.

She’s been so invested on her freaky journey to Rotterdam, I’m glad she’s enjoying the final destination. 🙂

Senhit said she’d bring a freaky party to Rotterdam and she is absolutely delivering that. She looked great, sounded good, and she was obviously having fun. Most interestingly, perhaps, they have a Flo Rida stand-in on stage, which suggests that they think Flo Rida will be in Rotterdam next week. The costumed dancers are giving me Rorschach from Watchmen—it’s a curious choice but it’s certainly striking. I don’t think we’ll see anything else quite like Senhit’s Adrenalina on stage this year—and that’s surely a good thing for her. At this point, I don’t think a first win for San Marino… Read more »

Senhit not afraid of success, top class show, high in energy; serving fashion, art concepts and great music. This is how you open a show.

The video clip and her live perfomances were so colourful and now she is wearing a heavy black dress…
I am sorry, i think it’s wrong. I wanted that to succeed so much…

I’m not convinced by the mask in the beginning, but for the rest I liked it. I thought it would disappoint, but it does not. She is good, handled the stage very well, and the act somehow comes together. She also feels like a genuine artist.

Poor dancers. They look like clowns that joined the kkk.
The stagings overall have been fine so far but I have to say I’m not impressed by the outfits.

Back dancers is mix of backdancers from Albania 2009 and San Marino 2019. They have mask from 2009 and bermuda from 2019.

Is it just me or are the dancers in the white masks SUPER creepy?

The headpiece is just… what?? I’m glad it gets taken off pretty soon 😀
If nothing else, it will surely be the talk of the hour.

my first thought was ‘oh look, she’s got some some sort of pussy riot slendermen with her!’. from that point, i couldn’t really focus on anything but those dancers.

It’s happening y’all! The stand in rapper obviously means that Flo Rida will join Senhit later on, maybe for the next rehearsal or on the semi-final night.
Not too sure about those outfits though lol, they look messy and amateur… I do like that they brought the rotating platform from the music video!

Supporting San Marino was one of the best things I could do this year as an eurofan. This freak trip is a rollercoaster and I’m here to enjoy it. Best San Marino result ever? At this point, looks like it.

As it could be expected from Luca Tommassini, the staging seems very OTT. I’m sure it will cater to some people, but a large part of the audience will probably find it off-putting – only judged on my first impressions.

Are any other performers allowed to just skip the rehearsals?

Jimmy Smit

The rules don’t appear to prescribe compulsory attendance at the rehearsals, only that the design of the performance as it is confirmed during the second rehearsals must be the one that is used for the live show.

I would think a bit of flexibility is better, such as if a backing singer or dancer couldn’t perform due to illness or injury and needed replacing.
