Denmark Fyr Flamme First Rehearsal Eurovision 2021

Denmark’s Fyr og Flamme have taken to the Rotterdam Ahoy stage for their first rehearsal of “Øve os på hinanden” at Eurovision 2021. Were we gobbling up this chunk of 1980s nostalgia? Let’s see…

Denmark’s Fyr og Flamme “Øve os på hinanden” — Eurovision 2021 first rehearsal

Oliver: What better way than to close off the day with some more neon? The Danish duo’s staging is a like for like recreation of their Dansk Melodi Grand Prix performance, sans the live orchestra. The LED backdrop is also updated to include zooming triangular shapes, framing the larger stage nicely. Jesper and Laurits are wearing the exact same outfits and they’re delivering irresistible retro energy. An unknown technical issue halted the first run, but the duo’s second and third takes were decent bar some delayed movements from Jesper — during the song’s bridge, he sprinted down the runway for a chaotic dance solo on the satellite stage. This moment felt very rushed but will surely be smoothed out in time. And even with these issues, things look good for Fyr og Flamme. They radiate charisma and the “Soldi” clap moment in the prechorus is certain to get lots of viewers on board. Don’t be surprised if Denmark make it through to the final.

Padraig: Fyr & Flamme take their DMGP staging and performance and plonked them on the Rotterdam stage. Back in the spring, their blue, pink and purple neon aesthetic was a fresh throwback to the 1980s. Sadly, by the time we reach the end of the semi, it feels a bit derivative because so many other acts have since adopted the colour scheme. Life can be so unfair! Nonetheless, this remains a whole load of fun and will certainly be a guilty (and not so guilty) pleasure for many. Many have written this off, which is a dangerous thing to do at Eurovision. This has already topped the charts at home and Europe might just be in the mood for some old-fashioned cheese too.

I am SO happy that they are keeping the costumes. It looks like they asked a teenager, “What do you think European boy bands in the 90s wore?”, and then made that happen. It is BRILLIANT.

This is so going through to the final.

I’m truly happy for Denmark. FINALLY, the underrated songs are proving themselves, and the overrated ones are getting unmasked as being just a product of hype. Bravo Denmark! Wish you well.

I think Denmark and Belgium will be dark horses ths year. Denmark thanks to televote ( I think they could be like Moldova 2017,Denmark 2018 or even Norway 2019). Belgium thanks to juries. I see both in final in TOP 10

I can really see this doing well with Televote. It’s 80s/schlager/retro/kitsch, its got target audience written all over it.

Denmark is the only country that really needed to use neon lights. This staging suits this song and is one of the least cases in this ESC that bright colors fit the sound. The performance was nice and enjoyable and they officially became my guilty pleasure.

I think they will qualify just because they perform last so that’s a huge advantage, but it stills remains a huge mystery how does this song close SM2……

The graphics are so much better, it’s cool how they almost give an illusion that the stage has a different shape. But it wasn’t my thing in DMGP and nothing changed in Eurovision. That said, ending the show can be a huge push and I can see Denmark qualifying. Between them, Poland and the sugar-free version of “Sugar”, this one has much much more charisma.

The camera guy must be very scared of his dance to run away so far.

It’s funny, sweet and don’t take itself too serious. I like it.

I feel like this is underrated. There aren’t any entries this year that don’t take themselves too seriously and are just for fun (Maybe Germany, but it sucks a lot), so this is a breath of fresh air for me.

is that what the backing singers are wearing? doesn’t seem to match the overall theme. more 90’s than 80’s.
cant wait to see these guys, its just what a semi final with a lot of very serious and heavy songs needs to lift the spirits
