After feeling under the weather, Go_A’s lead singer Kateryna Pavlenko missed her second rehearsal and took a PCR COVID-19 test in compliance with the installed Health and Safety Protocol. On Thursday, the test came back negative, meaning that she is allowed to continue her Eurovision 2021 preparations with Go_A.

As a precaution measure at this year’s contest, all delegates, crew and journalists routinely take COVID-19 rapid tests before entering the venue and during their stay. Those who display symptoms that are related to COVID-19 have to take a PCR test.

Go_A’s Kateryna Pavlenko tests negative for COVID-19

Spending a second day in self-isolation, Kateryna told her followers on Instagram that she was already feeling much better than the day before. Earlier in the afternoon, she shared some yoga poses on her Instagram stories.

Around 16:00 CET on Thursday, the Ukrainian songstress shared that she had received her test results back. The results declared that no COVID-19 had been detected.

The EBU put out a statement following the test result:

“We are pleased to report that the COVID-19 test has come back negative. Kateryna is feeling better and looking forward to performing on the Eurovision stage next week. We are delighted to welcome her back!”

With a negative test result, Kateryna was allowed to end her self-isolation and to leave her room again. The “SHUM” singer took the opportunity to run around the hallway, celebrating her newfound freedom. From the sheer joy of the moment, Kateryna accidently locked herself out of her room.

However, her Go_A band mates had already returned from their excursion to Amsterdam, organised by the production team of Eurovision 2021, and were ready to help her.

Because of her required self-isolation following the test, Kateryna Pavlenko missed out on the group’s second rehearsal on Wednesday. Instead, Go_A was joined by Dutch jazz music student Emmie van Stijn, who performed as a stand-in for the group. A statement from the EBU then read:

“The lead singer of Ukraine’s band Go_A, Kateryna Pavlenko, reported feeling a little unwell this morning. In accordance with the health and safety protocol she has undergone a PCR test for COVID-19 and, as a precautionary measure, Kateryna will miss this afternoon’s rehearsal and press conference.

“The other members of Go_A have all tested negative for COVID-19 and will perform with a stand-in singer. They will also attend Ukraine’s press conference later as scheduled.”

The team at wiwibloggs is very happy to hear that Kateryna has tested negative for COVID-19 and hope she gets well soon!

Testing negative is one thing, but I hope she is also fully recovered and does not feel weak or has a sore throat etc. Ukraine is my favorite this year, so I am relieved to hear that she feels better and I keeping my fingers crossed for Go_A!

btw, it would be great to find some day the full version of SHUM performed by Go_A feat. Emmie van Stijn… I would refrain from any comparison of such different singers as Kateryna and Emmie, but Emmie is really great one…

Oh phew, what a relief

What a desaster it would’ve been to finally go to eurovision only to not participate again for her
