Eurovision 2022 Favourite 30 December

Slowly but surely, the number of confirmed entries for Eurovision 2022 is creeping upwards. Albania chose its act  — Ronela Hajati with “Sektret” — on Wednesday, taking the total up to three.

The other two are Bulgaria’s Intelligent Music Project with “Intention” and Czech Republic’s We Are Domi with “Lights Off”. But which act do you like best? We Are Domi took gold in our first survey, but can they hold on in a more crowded field? You decide!

You can listen to Ronela’s effort below. Then vote in our poll. Choose wisely, you can only vote ONE time. Voting is open until just before the next Eurovision 2022 song reveal later in January.

We will then relaunch the poll to include the newly dropped songs.

Eurovision 2022 entries as of 30 December

New entries

Albania’s Ronela Hajati with “Sekret”

Ronela’s “Sekret” saw off competition from 16 other songs in the 60th Festivali i Këngës final. Despite being one of Albania’s biggest pop stars, this marked her debut appearance in the festival. The end result was determined solely by a jury, with the dashing crooner Alban Ramosaj finishing second with “Theje”.

Other entries

  • Bulgaria: Intelligent Music Project “Intention”
  • Czech Republic: We Are Domi “Lights Off”

Who is your favourite Eurovision 2022 act so far?

Which entry is your favourite? Can any of them win the contest in May? Let us know in the comments.

There’s fun to be had in all of these three entries, but the winner is not here yet (sorry).
With that aside, well done to Albania for choosing something a bit different this year. My cousin really liked the National Final performance! 🙂

I agree we don’t have the winner yet at this moment, but that doesn’t mean the songs we have now aren’t without value. We’ve got 38 songs to go by mid March.

Ronela can easily be the winner, if the song is properly revamped.

None of these are good enough for my top 10 ranking. I’m still waiting for the songs that can wow me.

My ranking right now:

  1. Lights Off (Czech Republic)
  2. Sekret (Albania)
  3. Intention (Bulgaria)

But it doesn’t really matter until all the songs are revealed. What really matters is the rehearsals, which will reveal the REAL odds.

Anyways, happy new year! (I live in North America BTW)

I can’t believe I am reading comments that Sekret is the new moon is rising aka flop, how dare you compare Ronelas stunning vocals and charisma with that green mess without any energy in Rotterdam? The revamp will elevate even more the song, watch out

  1. Czechia 9/10
  2. Albania 7/10
  3. Bulgaria 2/10

Albania’s song needs some more content, less repetition, pauses and random screaming to climb higher.

“Sekret” has potential to become the best one of these 3 after revamped, but the way the songs are right now, I would still put “Lights Off” first.

Same. In this current form, I’m giving the Czech Republic a slight edge, but with a proper polish, Albania could be my 1st.

Both Estonia and Spain have options to climb to my 1st spot so far, but it depends on how they choose.

Btw, what’s the next set of songs to be released? Lithuania? France? Romania has released 15 songs so far, but their NF starts only in February.

Spain has my 2 favorite songs of the season so far and they seem to be between the fan favorites, so I’m cautiously optimistic. Estonia is a little more difficult to predict where will land with me. The next entry may come from Montenegro, but it’s not clear if they’ll release their jong next Tuesday or just announce who won their internal selection. The next full set of songs will probably come from Norway (January 10th), while Finland will start releasing their songs in the same week (I imagine one a night, like in the last couple of years). Before… Read more »

Your two favorites in Spain – Are the perhaps among my top 4 – Terra, Secreto de agua, Quien lo diria, and Calle de la lloreria? 🙂

Oh yeah, Norway on the tenth! Can’t wait! 🙂

“Calle” and “Terra”! Spain has a bunch of respectable entries like the other ones on your top 4, but those 2 would inject the new blood I want them to show in Turin.

Oh, and happy new year. You’re almost there, I’ll arrive later as usual. 🙂

Five artists from the Lithuanian selection have actually released their songs before the first heat. I made a little playlist and I’ll continue to add more songs if more artists drop them: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx-YZK-LABdfM4ZT-k9C6J9lTgeTbXhHw

Thank you so much for that! It’s always a little difficult to follow Lithuanian entries before the shows, since they’re released on different times (I remember “Make Me Human” was only released weeks after its first TV appearance). Do you plan to do one for Romania too? I listened to a couple of their tracks, but didn’t find the courage to look for the rest of it.

the Czech Republic – stays my number 1. It’s the most perfected package so far… good vocals, a bit generic but still has something special, the singer has a great presence, the song is modern… but yeah it’s nothing extraordinary therefore I can’t give it a higher score than 8/10. Albania – this song is growing on me… I love the instrumental but there are some parts of the song that I dislike for example Ronela just screaming during the bridge… I will need a revamp to completely decide whether this is good or not… but so far I’m giving… Read more »

We’re not hating on it, itself it isn’t even a bad song, it just lacks any impact – and being from Bulgaria, a country that has had a good track record recently, also makes it feel underwhelming.

I don’t think people are so much hating it as just being disappointed with it because We’ve expected high-quality entries from Bulgaria for the last few years, and this is the first misstep they’ve taken. For now it is last by default because there’re two songs that are Stronger than this. There are aspects I like in intention, but But it is an overall forgettable rock song. It’s unfortunate.

I have voted for Albania but song wise ‘We Are Domi’ has the better song (structure) ….but in that song there is a highlight (a BOOM) in the 2nd half missing. So it repeats the first half again …and that is a little bit boring. The Albanian song has almost no structure but many highlights – the drums and flutes are amazing here – and when Ronela sings the slower melodic part, that is the real deal for me. Bulgaria has a good but very flat song ….they have to do a major revamp on that song if they want… Read more »

That’s the issue with generic radio friendly songs. They get boring really fast. And they revealed it so early too. A perfect recipe for failure.

I’m not particularly impressed by any of these three yet (Bulgaria lacks impact and is kind of boring as previously said the Czech song for me sounds too generic and I have trouble seeing how it’s going to stand out), but I guess Albania has the most potential. It just needs polishing and more work, which it probably will get.

These are only three songs out of many more so far though so I am sure there will be a lot better ones to come

For me personally, Ronela’s song can’t even be compared to the others. It’s just amazing and the only reason why it does need a revamp is that it’s still too long for Eurovision. If they do make it even better than it is now then that’s amazing but I don’t agree with the people who say it’s too chaotic. For me, it’s the perfect amount of chaos. I’m just really getting tired of basic predictable songs that I’ve heard multiple times before in Eurovision

Albania!!! The two others seem to lack a bit lot of originality and UMPF, Albania keeps me entertained because In the song and performance there is always something happening, where as Czech Republic is good but doesn’t give me any adrenaline, it does come off as generic and Czech Republic has a common theme where they send repetitive bands. My choice is Albania all the way Ronela gave me all the emotions and adrenaline honey!!!

Not really a fan of songs whose name is the opposite of what the lyrics are about (Secret/not keeping a secret). I think I’ll warm up to it more after the revamp.

Nathan

But even though the secret wasn’t kept, the lyrics are still about what once WAS a secret, and that secret is what Ronela is reminiscing about. So your comment doesn’t really make logical sense to me…

Bulgaria will look worse and worse from now on. And it’s not even a bad song itself, it just lacks any impact.
As for my favorite of this bunch, I chose Czech Republic for now, but it was a close call from Albania. I loved Ronela’s performance but the song needs to be properly revamped.

You’re right, even I chose Czech Republic for now. I’d rather form a proper opinion about Albania after the revamp is released. But I have a doubt, will the Czech Republic keep the song just as it is, or will it get a revamp too?

So far, it’s still not known if either country will carry out a revamp, but we all take for granted that Albania will do so, idk if CZ has done so as well so I’m not able to answer that.
It’d be cool if CZ carries out a revamp too, though, their song is nice but can be improved.

Very close for me also, but I think I give it to Domi for now. A little too much non-singing parts on Ronela’s song currently for my liking. Not sure there is equivalence when it comes to comparing performances as Domi had a closed studio, whereas Ronela had a live audience and like 20 backup dancers haha

I believe that domi is very repetitive and a bit genaric for a Eurovision song, it’s good, but not as good as what Albania is serving. The Mediterranean spice is real!
