Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022 songs released so far

The names and song titles were announced in early December. And even though the first show of Lithuania’s Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022 won’t air until the weekend, we can already listen to several of the competing entries.

That’s because unlike other national selections for Eurovision, Lithuania doesn’t tend to have a set rule regarding song release dates. Once Eurovision’s 1 September rule is abided by, artists are free to drop songs whenever they please.

The list of tracks released so far include efforts from Erica Jennings — lead singer with SKAMP at Eurovision 2001 — and the 2021 PiN finalist Voldemars Petersons.

Here are the eight entries you can check out right now. A total of 36 songs will participate in the selection.

Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022 songs released so far

Aldegunda “Holiday”

Emilija V “Overload”

Emilijana “Illuminate”

Erica Jennings “Back to Myself”

Joseph June “Deadly”

Mėnulio Fazė “Give Me A Sign”

Voldemars Petersons “UP”

Živilė Gedvilaitė “Lioness”

Pabandom iš naujo 2022

This year’s selection will consist of six shows. There will be three qualifying heats, two semi finals and a grand final. The first show will air on 8 January. As usual, the results will come via a mixture of a public and jury vote. The composition of the jury will change for each episode. Like 2021, the jury scores will only be announced at the end of each show, so as to not influence viewers voting from home.

The line-up features lots of exciting names who have yet to make their entries public. These include Eurovision alums Ieva Zasimauskaitė (2018), Monika Linkytė (2015) and Vilija (2014) . The 2021 runner-up Gebrasy is also returning. Other returning acts include the drag queen Lolita Zero and Rūta Loop.

What is your favourite of the eight songs above? And which song are you most excited to hear? Let us know in the comments below.

Illuminate is great !

My top 3 are: 1 – Holiday, nothing should work about this song, but somehow it does for me 2 – Give Me a Sign, I like the general style of the song but I’m not sure the artist has enough strength in his voice to carry parts of the song. A backing vocalist who can chime in for emphasis might fix it, but considering this guy hasn’t committed to performing this as a rap song it might also make it weirder. Idk. Song has decent bones though. 3 – Back to Myself, love her voice but the production is… Read more »

For now this isn’t a remarkable bunch of songs, but we do have more songs down the line and the first heat is this Saturday. Let’s see if there are songs better than this crop so far. I hope there is at least one or two songs that can rise above the field and be a good contender for Lithuania.

I think Illuminate is good, but I don’t love it yet. The chorus feels very electropop to me. I still haven’t listened to the other songs yet.

The artists for heat 1 has been revealed and half of the featured artists here are in that heat— Joseph June, Voldemars Petersons, Erica Jennings, and Aldegunda.

Voldemars songs are always hilarious. It’s like he flipped through pages of a dictionary, randomly chose words and created a song with them.

Alien language in Voldemars song, wig! Deadly is decent. Expected more from Erica Jennings. Not bad so far. But i just know there will be better songs.

Indeed, but it’s such a shame. I mean, Romania has given us artists such as Inna or Alexandra Stan (maybe one-hit wonders but with very good songs)

I’ve been collecting the currently released PIN songs in a playlist I didn’t know an eighth song has been released, so I better add it to it. I do agree that this is not the best bunch of songs out so far, but whether they are the worst is yet to be determined once more songs are out. These are only eight out of 36 songs, and the best songs could be yet to come Until the live shows start. I want everyone to keep this in mind. Out of the 36 songs here, half of them are going to… Read more »

Just a small correction: Three heats (starting from 8 January, aka this Saturday) will each introduce 12 entries and only 6 (18 in total) artists will advance to the semi-finals; Two semi-finals (starting from 29 January) will each introduce 9 entries left once again and only 4 (8 in total) artists will advance to the grand final (12 February). Thus, PIN 2022 will have a grand final of only 8 songs which is yay, I guess, because it may mean less quantity more quality. Anyways, indeed, let’s wait for Saturday to see if everything is as bad/as good as it… Read more »

Three actually. Estonia and Latvia have also scheduled their finals on February 12 too. It looks like it’s going to be a day of the Baltics

Awful choices so far and this is coming from a Lithuanian. I suppose “Deadly” by Joseph June is the best out of the released songs yet but they are all really really poor choices. We need a miracle to happen to have at least a single okay song, let alone, not make a mistake by sending some hippie-like Voldemars. He’s just too much of Pojavis, ewww.

All this article tells me is that LRT should’ve thinned the crowd a bit more before committing to their NF line-up…

I kinda wish they would just pick 30 or even just 24 songs and still keep the six show format.

It took LRT 10 years to squeeze it to six shows lol. It was the longest running pre-selection at some point.

I always love Voldemars songs. They are always cheery, really soothing to the ear and his voice is very melodic. Hope he has the chance to represent Lithuania some day,

Not gonna sugarcoat, pretty terrible so far. Most of these are unlistenable. But knowing this is PIN, there will be 2-3 songs that will kill the rest without any competition. Expected more from Erica Jennings, so my high hopes are for Monika Linkyte and Ruta Loop now.

Ruta Loop, Monika Liu and Gebrasy are the only hopes that left for Lithuania to stand a chance on reaching the GF in Turino.

If they have the best songs, yes, but There still a possibility they could disappoint too. We’ll just have to wait until the songs are out.

Also to no one’s surprise, Voldemars writes a song that is just word soup… if you’re gonna do English lyrics at least make it somewhat comprehensible and not a song full of cliches and made-up metaphors (like what is a plastic lion… it’s just weird and doesn’t make much sense). If you can’t do that stick to your native language. It sounds much better that way. He also has several spelling errors in his lyric video. He is spelling “knew” as “new” and “strength” as strenght”. What does “we build a kingdom on a pain” mean. It just feels a… Read more »

As a non-native speaker I’m now feeling ashamed: what is the difference between “knew” and “new” in spelling?

Jason
Jason

Nah, don’t feel ashamed haha. The words have two different meanings and he used the wrong word for what he was trying to say. “New” is an adjective (a word that describes something). So like PURPLE socks or SPARKLY pants. The word “new” means “not existing before; made, introduced, or discovered recently or now for the first time.” So I would say “I just bought a new car” or “I got a new winter jacket” “Knew” is a verb (which are words that are actions) like run, fight, and swim. The definition is “be aware of through observation, inquiry, or… Read more »

I was going to write down the difference between knew and new but you stated it a lot better than me.

As I was watching the lyric video, it was actually addressed that He made a mistake and meant to write “knew” instead of “new.”
