The first heat of Lithuania’s Pabandom Iš Naujo! 2022 was filmed on Tuesday 4 January. This means we now know the first eleven acts which will appear in the televised broadcast on Saturday 8 January.

Interestingly, the number of acts confirmed to compete in this year’s selection is officially listed as 36, so you would think that each heat would have 12 acts. But the first heat had only 11 acts which means that this heat will be a bit shorter.

Let‘s get to know some of the artists a little bit more.

Joseph June – “Deadly”

Joseph June’s music is not tied to one genre or idea. His songs touch on elements of jazz, hip-hop, R&B and indie. Through his lyrics, Joseph June interprets his relationship with love and his understanding of it in a creative and sometimes ironic way. This is Joseph‘s first try in Lithuania‘s national selection. He plans on releasing his first solo album later this year.

Urtė Šilagalytė – “Running Chords”

After a long break from the big scene and national selection, Urtė is back to try her luck with “Running Chords”. This singer is not a newcomer and for sure knows how to give a great performance. The Lithuanian public will remember Urtė from other music projects.

Mary Mo – “Get up”

Marija Monika Dičiūnė is a well-rounded singer, vocal teacher and choir conductor. She performs across genres: soul, RnB, pop, jazz and gospel. Mary Mo teaches vocals at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater.

Augustė Vedrickaitė – “Before You’re 6ft Under”

Augustė made her debut in the national selection way back in 2006. Now she returns for the sixth time this year. “I really believe in my song, its message and energy. I’ve never felt as right in my place as I did this time. And when you feel that way, you are bolder and you don’t have to play anything against yourself or against the viewer,” she said.

Voldemars Petersons and “The Break Hearters” – “Up”

Last year Voldemars was a big fan favorite and this year he is back with a bang — and he’s bringing The Break Hearters“ with him. Voldemars said that this song also contains the language of aliens he once dreamed of, supplemented by self-invented syllables suitable for creating a rhyme: “Fortunately, the aliens landed in my dream, not in my yard. So after dreaming of aliens, I still managed to write down some syllables. I thought it would be useful. And here it is.”

Aldegunda – “Holiday”

Aldegunda is competing in the national selection for a third time now. Last year she wasn‘t so successful, as she failed to qualify from her heat. But this time she’s brining something new and unique which might make her a stand out act in this heat.

Viktorija Faith – “Walk Through the Water”

An actress and singer/ songwriter/composer of electro dream-pop and dance music. Her hit songs can be heard on radio stations in Lithuania and on her Youtube channel and Spotify. Viktorija Faith is an exciting young performer who combines talent, style and charisma, and her smooth and silky vocals have a unique and fresh sound. She lives and performs in London but now she is back in Lithuania to see if she can be successful here as well.

Erica Jennings – “Back To Myself”

Erica Jennings is closing this heat for a reason: she is one of the people’s favorite acts to do well in this year’s national selection. Erica already went to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001 with the group “Skamp,” placing 13th. Her entry “Back to Myself” is all about loving yourself and turning a new page in life after a hard time, which in her case was a divorce from husband Jurgis Didžiulis.

Pabandom Iš Naujo! 2022: Heat One Running Order

  1. Elonas Pokanevič – “Someday”
  2. Joseph June – “Deadly”
  3. Urtė Šilagalytė – “Running Chords”

I think I solved the mystery of why there’s only 11 participants in this heat. Apparently, the band Basas Pegasas was Supposed to participate in this heat but they’re going to participate next week because of unforeseen circumstances. I wonder what those are.

I’m surprised there’s very few comments about this upcoming heat Despite being the first show of 2022.

Because this first heat is boring.

Hell yeah! ‘Deadly’ is mind-blowingly cool! I’d even go as far to say it could be Lithuania’s first ever victory.

Erica Jennings’ song has a lot of potential as well, it feels like an indie or underground club version of ‘Euphoria’. Nevertheless, it still needs a bit of fine-tuning.

“Big names return”, aren’t we a little bit bold there? Only Erica Jennings is somewhat known in Lithuania and that’s not due to her music but more due to her interest in pushing her “righteous” opinion to everyone + family drama. Heat One is pretty much, well, weak since there is no Gebrasy, Monika Liu, Monika Linkyte, Ruta Loop or Ieva.

I was just about to make a comment in the other article about the heat one running order, but you beat me to it. I’m surprise that it’s 11, rather than 12 songs in this heat. Did somebody drop out or will there be 13 in another heat?

This usually happens when someone drops out. And it has happened before. We’ll see.

Oh dear. I hope it’s not Ruta or Gebrasy. Maybe at best one of the remaining heats will be 13 artists. I wonder if we’ll find out that somebody has a strong, or just rescheduled

That’s what I was thinking or they got sick in general and chose to skip out on the first heat. Hopefully if that’s the case, they could get better to participate in the other heats but if they have to withdraw, Oh well

The best one of these is the copy of Britney Spears’ Womanizer (by Aldegunda)

You can sing the chorus of Womanizer flawlessly to it. It reminds me of the Waldos People/E-Type True Believer levels of similarity.
