Eesti Laul 2022: Semi-final voting rules
As detailed in section 7 of ERR’s Eesti Laul 2022 rules, voting will work slightly differently in the semis compared to the quarter-finals.
Five acts will advance from each semi-final. The first three will be determined using a 50-50 combination of jury and public voting, while the remaining two qualifiers will come from a second round of public televoting from the acts that remain.
Unlike in previous years, there will not be a one-week gap between the semi-finals and grand final. Estonia will crown its Eurovision 2022 singer on Saturday 12 February.
What do you make of the Eesti Laul 2022 semi-final running order? Who are you most excited to see perform? Let us know in the comments below.
I think the best song overall is “Golden Shores”. I hope they will have a good live performnce, because the song has a great potential.
My fav this year is laululind, doesn’t seem to get a lot of acknowledgement though. I also like Sandra ? I’m normally pretty good at picking the finalists from Estée laul, but this year I feel it might not be the case. I think there will be a few big names not making the final as their songs are too generic…. I’m looking at you Anna Selene, Elina, stig and ott…. If any of these win then Estonia will be left in the semis again. Stefan seems the obvious winner for eesti Laul, but there are two probs. 1, his… Read more »
u are speaking total bs LOL
Laululind is my favorite of the songs in Estonian. Its not getting a lot of support though.
I’m expecting that we are losing either Meeletu or Golden Shores in semi final 2. But if there is a scenario where we lose both…………I don’t know what to do.
That’s why I don’t expect anything from Estonia anymore. Still, they’re able to disappoint.
Just a point of reference, Ivo Linna and Suured Tudkurud closed the EL semi finals last year and neither one was a contender. Just because a song is placed last in the semi final running order, it doesn’t mean the producers want them to win.
So outdated!
one theory: She got Estonia to third place ESC 2003, I think she’s rather popular among the people, so they’re making sure she goes to the final so more people watch it.
sahlene is not popular at all in estonia lol
Sahlene is known in Estonia only for singing “Runaway” at Eurovision 20 years ago (+ that she had a role at Swedish “Bullerby” movies in the late 1980s 😛). “Champions” is quite a boring song and I don’t believe that it will be super supported by Eesti Laul jury + the audience.
Is it just me or would “aovalguses” and “champion” be better as openers?
The running order sux ngl. Idk what to expect, but it’s not crazy to say the likes of Maian or Purr Mudd can be shock nqs
Much to my own dismay :/
I think it is very likely that neither of them will reach the final. However, the second semi-final is much more unpredictable than the first.
Is there any estonians that can tell me estonia’s view on Fire by Elysa? Honestly I love the song (My Number 1), but it has like a 10% of winning in my eyes. I know Stefan is probably going to win but I don’t really mind that since he is my close second 🙂
It’s hard to predict how it will do because upbeat dance songs are very rare in Eesti Laul. I think Estonian middle-aged men will vote for Elysa but I don’t think it’ll be in the superfinal because there are many bigger artists this time… Also, I doubt if the jury will like this.
I also think “Fire” is unlikely to make it to the final.
I think “Fire” will qualify for the final but won’t reach the superfinal. The first semi is a little bit weaker imo, so she could qualify.
The running order of semi final one is awful. All the big-voiced slow songs at the end (7-10) and all the upbeat stuff at the frontend (1-6). The Eesti Laul voting system is one of the most interesting. It’s kinda similar to A Dal in that there’s a spot (or in this case, two spots) for an act that could potentially get unappreciated by the juries but loved by the public. That’s smart. It also makes for some interesting possible scenarios. For example, if “Interstellar” or “Champion” were to get overlooked by juries, they’d surely take one of those spots… Read more »
Can we please get a reaction video? Estonia have many good songs this year and several ones that could do well at Eurovision.
I have the feeling we will have surprise qualifiers. It will mostly, I believe, depend on the live performances. I’m definitely not rooting for Anna’s song, it’s soulless and so Melodifestivalen reject!
this makes me afraid that maian and merilin could be surprise non qualifiers. I hope their live performances are memorable enough. Based on this running order I think jaagup, stefan, elina, ott, stig, elysa and anna sahlene should qualify comfortably
merilin and maian are absolutely nqing lol
They should send Stepan
if they want 13th in the semi then yes!
We can’t predict outcome at this stage, but I can tell you he wohld get a much better result than Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Albania in televoting 100%
He’s overrated, but he’ll win EL and stay in the semi in May xd
I barely remember any song here. I liked Ott since 2012, so I’d pick him for the voice, I guess. Probably Jaagup deserves it most. It’s a nice package. No thx to Anna Sahlene. It literally has zero identity and yet the channel gives her the best spot? They must love zero identity. Elina is nice but less than what I expected from her. Oh, I remember Stefan now. It’s Jaguup, Stefan or Ott for me. So basically, Estonia must pick a guy who is not Stig. Should be doable, no?
no, enough of this sausage fest!
Why does the gender of the performer matter?
a man has won eesti laul 3 times in a row now and enough is enough x
also, glad to see that u r still obsessed with me <3
A woman has represented Albania for 12 of the last 14 years… Ukraine also very rarely select male vocalists…
If a guy has the most popular song then that is the one that should go to Eurovision. It shouldn’t matter if a woman or a man won the selection last year or not.
I bet you’re one of these people who complain about male vocalists being selected more than once by a country but don’t care if they send a few women in a row haha
Besides, most of the artists confirmed for Eurovision so far (or front runners in their NF) are females. So I don’t think it’s too much of a problem if there’s a couple guys at Eurovision as well.
