Vilija Eurovision 2014 Lithuania

The third and final heat of Lithuania’s Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022 was filmed on Tuesday 18 January. This means we now know the last twelve acts who will appear in the televised broadcast on Saturday 22 January.

This heat will have 12 acts, which means that we will say goodbye to the half of them. At the end of it we will know the final line up of semifinalists of Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022. It is quite interesting to see that all of the songs in the national language were left to compete in this heat.

Now let‘s get to know some of the competing artists.

Emilija V – “Overload“

Lithuanian singer-songwriter Emilija Valiukevičiūtė moved to London at the age of 18 to pursue her dreams. She has already performed in sold-out arenas and on national TV, and opened for multi-award winners like Krept & Konan and Melissa Steel. Emilija has also been featured on Capital Xtra Music Potential and appeared on the tv series Holby City (BBC), Eastenders (BBC), The Royals (E!), Jason Bourne 5 and Black Mirror (Netflix, Channel 4).

Gebrasy – “Into Your Arms“

You’ll remember Audrius Petrauska, who goes by his stage name Gebrasy, from last year‘s national selection, where he placed second right behind The Roop. Gebrasy is back and trying his luck with another power ballad called “Into Your Arms“. He wrote it himself. Gebrasy has been growing as a songwriter, cutting his teeth and gaining skills by writing a number of popular songs for other artists. But now it’s his time to shine.

Lolita Zero – “Not Your Mother“

Probably the most famous Lithuanian drag queen, Lolita Zero is back in the preselection for a second time. We expect another impressive performance. She’s improved her singing abilities since her first attempt and hopefully she’ll sing her song all by herself this time — and without needing help from others.

Mėnulio fazė – “Give Me a Sign“

This group has a very interesting name: It translates as “Phase of the Moon”. As a group they are relatively new — let’s say their blood moon is still rising. But their lead singer Vladas Chockevičius has already tried his luck in multiple singing competitions. Even if this is their first big debut as a group, their laid-back style will no doubt help them stand out.

Monika Liu – “Sentimentai / Sentiments“

The Lithuanian music industry is full of famous singers named Monika. And this time we’re going to hear from Monika Liu, an established artist who has gifted the country several hits already. All of her written songs are in Lithuanian, so it’s no surprise that her entry is also in the native language. Monika was a judge on The Voice of Lithuania and for sure knows how to give an interesting performance. This year she is one of the most talked-about acts who could win it all.

Vasha – “Nepaleidi / Not letting go“

Gabrielė Rutkauskienė, who goes by her stage name Vasha, is a well-known singer. It’s really surprising to see her join Pabandom iš Naujo, as she never showed any interest in competing at Eurovision. But her entry “Nepaleidi / Not letting go“ is a very catchy pop song in Lithuanian and it will for sure stand out in this selection. We do miss some pop bops in native language.

Živilė Gedvilaitė – “Lioness“

After a short break Živilė is back at the national selection and this time with a song written by famous Swedish Eurovision songwriters Ylva & Linda. Živilė — an experienced performer — will no doubt deliver live. But will this song reach enough fans to make it out of this heat? We have to wait and find out.

Vilija – “Šimtas ir vienas / Hundred and one“

Another Eurovision star is back at Pabandom iš Naujo, but this time she’s dropped her surname — among the most complicated last names to pronounce in Lithuanian. Vilija won the selection in 2014, but sadly she stalled at Eurovision, failing to qualify from the semi and finishing 11th. This time Vilija will sing in her native langue. It’s a song she wrote all by herself.

Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022: Heat three running order:

(Don‘t quote us on this since the running order might be changed, like last week)

  1. Gebrasy – “Into Your Arms“
  2. Mėnulio fazė – “Give Me a Sign“
  3. Emilija V – “Overload“
  4. Lolita Zero – “Not Your Mother“
  5. Monika Liu – “Sentimentai / Sentiments“
  6. Rūta Loop – “Call Me From the Cold“
  7. Basas Pegasas – “Ponai / Misters“
  8. Vilija – “Šimtas ir vienas / Hundred and one“
  9. Vasha – “Nepaleidi / Not letting go“
  10. Geleibra – “Aš jaučiu tave / I am feeling you“
  11. Gintarė Korsakaitė – “Fantasy Eyes“
  12. Živilė Gedvilaitė – “Lioness“

Tune in on Saturday 22 January to see who will be the last six qualifiers from this heat of Pabandom iš Naujo 2022!

Who do you think will qualify? And which song are you most excited to hear on Saturday? Let us know in the comments below.

I’m gonna wait until it debuts on Youtube so I can make my own my up mind about the song, but I’m looking forward to it. I am excited, but I am also keeping my expectations at a cautious level in case it doesn’t wow me.

I really liked it as well! It is a shame that not many Lithuanians are appreciating it…

We’ll see. On one hand, it’s actually encouraging that they want to support something that is in their national language for once (we haven’t heard Lithuanian at the contest since its disastrous debut in 1994–1999’s song was in the Samogitian dialect). But on the other hand is “Sentimentai” is strong enough to compete at Eurovision? I don’t think it will get Lithuania’s first top 5 position to be honest (but you never know), but I don’t want to write a good song off as a potential non-qualifier either when we don’t know which semi final Lithuania will be placed into.… Read more »

Aww nice.
Well we only can see how this plays out. To me ‘sentimentai’ is winning material to be honest and is strong contender – the same category as Barbara Pravi.
But I also like Ruta and Gebrasy as well as overload.

It only just dropped, and it could rise in popularly tomorrow when heat 3 airs, but we’ll see. I wonder if we will finally get a consensus on what the Jury and Televote want or if it will be another split.

I’m building up PIN page for English speakers for them to be able to read, for instance, fully English comments of our beloved jurors. Keep in mind it is a very demo demo and everything is yet to be filled so the final product will probably be different from what you see now. But there are a few comments about some premiere songs as well as Heat 1&2 jury comments, in case you like it. Feedbacks are welcome too! pabandomisnaujo. lt

Good for them. Hopefully when R?ta loop drops her song tomorrow, It could rise just as high. Yes I am excited for it, but I’m also keeping my expectations controlled in case it turns out to be disappointing. But I hope that won’t be the case.

Ruta’s song is out in my country (on Spotify). I personally found it quite underwhelming, but it’s certainly not bad! A very linear ballad, reminds me of Grimes.

So it’s a ballad? I kind of figured, but I wanna make my own judgment when it’s actually released soon. I’m sorry I disappointed you, but that’s why I’m not trying to overhype it before it’s released.

To my ears it is not exactly a ballad, it builds up and has a nice beat to it.

I like the songs from Gebrasy – “Into Your Arms“ most and also Monika Liu – “Sentimentai / Sentiments“ is a great song.

“All of her (Monika’s) written songs are in Lithuanian” well, they are not. In fact, she has a much wider catalogue of English tracks but they have never been met with the same success as the Lithuanian ones.

Yep. Only recently she started writing in Lithuanian. Pretty much every older song of hers is in English.

Finally some pretentious stuff in PIN! After pandemic years of LT Roop’ovision, I think Gebrasy has potential to take good place in Turino, just still not sure about his live permormance, Monika Liu same feelings! It will be hard battle for both of them! Best of Luck!!!

I haven’t been able to listen to Ruta Loop’s entry yet. However, I’m not writing her off as a frontrunner in this heat. The same goes for Menulio Faze and Emilija V. So far, I liked the entries Gebrasy and Monika Liu. For me, it looks like the best entries were reserved for this heat, as both “Into Your Arms” and “Sentimentai” are my favorites from this selection. Here’s my notes about them: * Gebrasy’s song is a beautiful one! I think it he upped his game with this song and has a better composition than his previous attempt. I… Read more »

Monika Liu is my winner of Heat 3, her song isn’t something I’d normally listen to, but it’s so unique, has a really cool vibe and is something I’ve never heard before in Eurovision, also she sings in Lithuania, which I think is a bonus! In my opinion it’s the best song in the whole Lithuanian National Selection (hopefully her performance will be great too). I was sad when Cosmic Bride came up last in Heat 2 however, now I have my new favourite act. In general, if Lithuania sends her to Turin, she either would end up last in… Read more »

I don’t think Ieva is favourite to win, she gets not so positive critique from what i see in various comments.

I think Monika or Gebrasy currently are favourites. There is also a lot of hope in Ruta Loop.

Monika’s song is very interesting, different from anything we had so far in PiN or any other national final. I’m curious to see how the fandom reacts to it, because it’s not exactly an “instant” song, but one of those that grow when you give them the proper attention. I like it a lot.

Gebrasy had a catchier song last year, but this one is also a solid ballad, so I believe he’ll fight on the top again. Waiting to listen to Ruta’s song, the snippet is promising and her previous attempt was great.

Monika Liu. Like it or not, Lithuania does best with authentic entries. The only song that I feel is very authentic so far. Risky? Yes. But Eurovision is all about taking risks. The song has some references to “Taken by the stranger” and “Voila”. It seems like Monika’s stage presence is also fantastic. It could either fail to qualify or do REALLY well in the final. There’s no in between. Gebrasy. The song ticks all the right boxes, yet it feels really safe and templated. Would qualify for sure, but probably fall short in the final. We’ve heard this before,… Read more »

Exactly! Both songs are amazing, and a shade of which one prefers is personal. As I said, sometimes we overlook amazing songs because we are just comparing them to what came before, while praising not as good songs, just because we had no expectations to begin with.

menulio faze & monika liu are in my opinium the best options from the songs which are already available.
it could be a very tough semi 3 after the mess in semi 2 and the solid semi 1.

MONIKA LIU!!! wow, i’m totally floored by her. sentimentai checks all of my boxes, it’s jazzy, soulful, danceable, has great vocals, and a charismatic performer. what a creative and out of the box entry, i could seriously see lithuania scoring their best ever result with monika. if chosen, lithuania will likely be in my top 3 of the year
