North Macedonia’s national final for Eurovision 2022

The songs will be presented publicly on Friday, January 28  during the music programme Stisni Play on MTV, starting at 22:00 local time. Online voting will begin at that time and last for seven days — until February 4.

MRT is now busy finalising lyric videos that will be posted on the online platform for public voting.

The winner will be decided by a 50-50 combination of online voting, as well as an international jury.

The selection committee that narrowed the field of songs to just six included Eurovision 2017 alum and TV host Jana Burceska, along with journalists and music editors Meri Popova, Zoran Mircevski, Biljana Nikolovska, Aleksandra Jovanovska, Maja Trpchanovska, and Ardita Imeri.

Do you recognise any of the names? Who excited you the most? Let us know in the comments box below.

Lara, Andrea and Yon are very promising! Tho, the composers of Flower Of Sun are very good at what they do, I believe this one will be the best out of all the songs. Plus, Lara is a young new artist that is very popular nowadays here in North Macedonia and knows how to perform live! Wish them all luck!

2022 is critical to determine North Macedonia’s Eurovision direction–was 2019 a one-off fluke of success or was 2021 a one-off slip down? We’ll see when the songs are out.

Was hoping for a Macedonian title but can’t make any judgments without hearing the songs!

I didn’t expect North Macedonia to turn things around, but it seems they’re doing so and I’ll be looking forward to see what they got in store. Hopefully, they’re taking the Finland route instead of the Irish one.

Lara with a song by Darko and Robert will deliver a power ballad for the win! Hoping she’ll sing in Macedoniam though.

I’d like to hear something like “Koj e kriv’

With a title Flower of sorrow, it’s bound to be devastating, but surely in a good way – like Duša

Me too, I was thinking the same. I think Lara should sing in Macedonian instead of English. The last time we heard Macedonian in Eurovision was in 2016 (“Dona” was a masterpiece), and “Flower of sorrow” has a Macedonian version.

And at just 18 years old, Lara will prove that it’s time for the youth to prevail at Eurovision. She can give North Macedonia its first Eurovision win!

I love these compact national finals with all local artists. Sometimes, if they’re good enough, six songs is all you need!

Ireland has just six songs for its selection, and most of them are Kinda meh. We’ll see if North Macedonia will go the Finland or Ireland route.

It can only get better then last year so I have hope… Really interested to see if North Macedonia is able to turn things around..
Btw Tijana Dapcevic (North Macedonia 2014) is in the running for Serbia instead of Stefan Zdravkovic who pulled out.

Great Voice. Loved *To the sky* and she is Tamera’s Sister.

The composer and lyricist of Lara Ivanova’s “Flower of sorrow” also composed last year’s Macedonian entry for Junior Eurovision, “Green forces” by the teenage co-ed group Dajte Muzika. I haven’t listened to the song, tho’, but I think it’s winner material for Za Evrosong 2022 and can represent North Macedonia in Turin.

Let’s hope this group of songs will be better than last year’s entry, and Might give North Macedonia a chance to qualify.

Sounds very promising, I appreciate how all songs were written without help outside the Balkans. North Macedonia having one of the best NFs of the year would be another unusual landmark I wouldn’t have guessed or imagined before.

If the songs turned out to be actually good. Let’s wait until they’re released before we make that judgment.
