March 5. That’s when Denmark will crown the winner of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2022 live from the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning. The next stop for the winner? Eurovision 2022 in Turin.
Tina Müller and Martin Brygmann have the honour of guiding viewers through the show. But many of those viewers will have already voted multiple times before the show even starts.
This year DR is adding a Melodi Grand Prix app to the mix. Between Monday 28 February and Friday 4 March, people can vote every single day.
Those votes will be combined with votes made during the show to determine the Top 3, which will move on to a super final. The three lucky acts will perform again and the public will decide on the winner.
But you don’t have to wait until then to dig into the tunes. You can listen to the eight hopefuls down below.
Denmark: Eight songs and artists revealed for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2022

So who is your winner? Do you think any of these songs can qualify from the Semi-Final at Eurovision and make it to the grand final?
Conf3ssions with Hallelujah is my winner but there are also quite a lot of good ones. My other faves are En Skonne Dag (5th place), Happy Go Lucky (4th place), The Show (2nd place) and Rave De Met Harde Drenge (3rd place). Overall not many songs stand out. The best options if they want a qualification are Hallelujah and Rave Med De Harde Drenge. Overall a solid national final but by no means one of the best of the year.
Friendly reminder, whoever wins Denmark’s selection must film a proper music video for their entry.
Average line up but I’m really loving REDDI. This is the kind of moody indie rock I could listen outside the bubble. Quality there. Hope they deliver a good show because I think it’s the best option for Denmark in a field of average and bland songs. “Happy Go Lucky” would be my 2nd but I think it will have no impact at all.
No impact? Hypocrite alert! 🙁
Fuld effekt ftw! What a BANGER 😀
Hallelujah is the strongest bet if they can sing live. 100% sure it will qualify in ESC
Full effekt for the victory !
I kinda like Hallelujah, Happy Go Lucky and Let Me Go. They don’t really feel original, but they’re fine. I don’t know what to think about Fuld Effekt’s song, it sounds weird. The others don’t really seem interesting. But they’ll grow on me before the competition. I hope so.
Do you think Rave has a chance of winning with Danish televote?
If the live performance is great ofc but seeing how Danes usually vote I don’t know.
It could be something very memorable to send but again we need to see it live first because it could go either way.
I have no idea, but I sure hope so. But then again, I can’t remember the last time my favorite actually won our national contest. The fact that they’ve changed up the voting rules, making it possible to vote every day in the week leading up to the contest may have an impact. Here’s hoping.
It depends on how many younger people are tuning in on night or vote for them in the week. Here i Denmark songs like Rave… falls in a category named “Dakkedak” and are specially popular among younger people.
That’s what I thought. It could really depend with the young vote I guess. If there’s some movement for a change.
And with this new voting system.. who knows. I didn’t know they changed it.
Rave is a real risk but it could be worth of it.
Morten Fillipsen – “Happy Go Lucky
My favorite! 🙂 A music video, whether live action or animated, would make the song more enjoyable. 😀
OK, it must be said that on first listen this sounds like a more interesting DMGP than last year, although true to Danish tradition there are few surprising or risky entries here. At least most of them are decently produced and legit songs. The songs of Reddi and Conf3ssions sound like the most interesting and competitive options which could work out well on stage; Full Effekt could be somewhat interesting but will probably take the turn to joke entry when performed. The rest is, well, not terrible but rather forgettable.
Let me go is what Danish normally choose.
Yeah Ben is a composer on it and to me it got a small sound like YES but very much the kind we would choose for the most part
Im all in on fuld effekt tho.
Wow what a weak selection in total… But I do like Conf3ssions and also REDDI to some extent. The song by Josie Elinor and Jack Warren isn’t bad either and is already included in this weeks New Mudic Friday Norway playlist so I have a feeling it will win then… It also feels like a Common Linnets type of song and performance. But i prefer as said Conf3ssions and REDDI.
Bring back Ben & Tan! 🙁
Maybe next year.
Actuelly Ben is back.. Just as songwriter and it got a bit of the same tune as YES in my opinion..
I really don’t want to contribute to the negative reception of Denmark’s national final, but unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy a single song from this year’s selection. Yes, I did write earlier that I appreciated seeing more Danish entries despite not qualifying last year with a Danish song, but that was before I had listened to all 8 songs in full and now it’s more like faint praise. In a way, this is worse than last year’s crop for me because as much as it was lambasted as the “weakest” of the 2021 national finals, I actually liked a couple of… Read more »
Im really frustrated with DR and their selection – they use Chief 1 and Remee like a stamp of quality that “hitmakers” have written/producer entries…
But their entries have never worked at Eurovision, giving Denmark some of their worst placements..
Every entry in the danish selection is generic, ot sounds like discount version of whats in, nothing innovative at all…
I do hope we send “Rave with the tough guys” – at least it Would be something different for Denmark…
I will vote for “Rave med de hårde drenge” every day until the show
What happened, Denmark? 3rd year in a row where there is not a single decent song… Maybe they should go internally next year
I can’t remember any of them except The Show. I like the rock transition. May as well send that. The way this year is going, it might get top 5.
I don’t think this much negativity is justified. Yes, there’s not much flavor but at least we’re not tasting 20+ spoiled meals. Hallelujah is perfectly fine. Yes, it’s generic and I don’t like the use of words like hallelujah and amen in songs but it’s cute. I bobbed along and listened to the whole track. We’ve had less original songs in the Final before… It’s catchy and the vocals sound competent. En Skønne Dag Is not my taste but there have been quite a few songs like this that did fairly decently in the contest. The Netherlands would stage the… Read more »
Rave Med De Hårde Drenge is actually not a joke entry. They actually take it quite seriously. And it is time for Denmark to send something new. Not a boring safe song.
Rave Med De Hårde Drenge it’s a bop! The best in the selection, BY FAR!
Maybe I make a fool of myself, but I kinda like Happy Go Lucky.
DR (the broadcaster) said that they wanted a line up that mirrors the danish music scene – they did not focus on finding songs with international appeal that could do well at Eurovision. So they basically said that they don’t care about doing well at the contest. It really makes me mad that they are not taking it seriously anymore. This lineup is definitely missing something – and that is well-produced and well-written pop songs with international appeal (something like Mø, Drew Sycamore, Jada and Christopher)- we have lots of these on the radio. So I wouldn’t say this lineup… Read more »
Andreas Odbjerg! That guy can write hit songs!
Anyway, I actually like that they don’t have their eye set on what would do well at ESC, but rather what represents authentic Danish music as it sounds right now.
I mean, Portugal also do things their way in recent years to have their entries in FDC be reflective of the domestic market. Doing so doesn’t seem like a bad idea, especially if you’re patient enough to wait for that effort to yield positive results.
Has Denmark changed their head of delegation in the last couple of years? Denmark always had a National final similar to Sweden and Norway in terms of songs and often you’d find Swedish-penned songs that were English-heavy pop tracks, but lately they seem to be going more of the indie route with an even split of Danish songs—it feels closer to Estonia or Portugal in terms of where they moved.
The spokesperson is not the usual guy, and there has been som rearrangements at DR the past years, so maybe there are some big changes back stage.
The Head of Delegation, Molly Plank, remains the same, but she has never been making any creative decisions in relation to DMGP and Denmark’s participation in ESC. She’s a production manager, who is mainly responsible for making sure that all aspects of the production are done on time and within the budget.
However, as far as I know, the entire creative team working on the content of the show was replaced a few years ago.
This year’s MGP looks better than last year. My favorite entry’s Full Effekt’s “Rave Med De Hårde Drenge.” I like this kind of music (though I don’t usually listen to it), the song’s a banger and Danish fits the entry beautifully!
If you are doubting it, the rave song will make much more sense live. Trust me.
we’ll see if the live will be good but for now it’s horrible!!
Rave med de hårde drenge is awesome!!
strident rap, messy song without work behind wow awesome!!! LOL I understand why I don’t go to parties like this (no party for that matter because I prefer to listen to my own music without having an opinion that contradicts me!)
I would say ‘you must be fun at parties’ but it seems like you don’t even have enough of a life to be at one
Oh well you know me to judge me?
And I don’t have the right to have different tastes from others or even from you??
I think I’m not the only one who hates Rave Song!
Its crazy ! With you we can never have different tastes !
You can say you don’t like a song, but you saying a loooooot of negative things, that is also judging.
I do like Rave Med De Hårde Drenge the best of all of them!!!
You also judge many other songs that I may like. So in the end, you judge, I judge everyone judges!!
Everyone has their own tastes!!!
We’ll see what Denmark will do as a choice but even the Rave song is bad for a final, especially in a semi-final 1 which is stronger than the second LOL…
Even better if DMGP is retaining its live band this year. 🙂
Full effekt is so up my alley
This might not be one of the best national finals we’ve had this year (I don’t know if it’s better or worse than 2021, I’ve got to listen to the songs in full), But I credit Denmark for Not being scared off of having a lot of Danish language songs in their selection despite last year’s non qualification.
I might not agree that it’s among the best NFs of the season, but I admire the fact that most entries are in the native language as in Finland
i really loved en skonne dag, i enjoyed let me go too. the others… between meh and bad.
Reading the comments I was prepared for the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised. This isn’t that bad. So far I would pick Let Me Go as my favourite.
Definely rooting for Full Effekt! I don’t know how the guys perform live but the studio version is the best song among the ones already selected or which are competing yet in the national selections!
Really? None! Sorry Denmark!
You’re not sorry. You made Denmark feel like a sore loser!
Full Effect is the 2022 version of their 1997 entry. it will go nowhere, but some people will like it.
Let Me Go and Hallelujah are the best songs. Not a bad line up. Denmark are good at coming up with radio friendly songs.
I can agree that this year’s eurovision seems to become a weaker one, but these are bound to happen at times. All countries can’t send out constant bangers, so there will be years where nothing really stands out. But it is kinda unfortunate with how some festivals like Denmark’s is deteriorating in quality, and Sweden hasn’t had a genuinely good Melodifestivalen (imo) since 2017 (although 2020 was decent).
But we still have around 15 more countries whose songs are unknown, so… until all are released, we’ll only have to see.
I actually think that Full Effekt could do very well at Eurovision with the right performance and staging. It is just so different and I absolutely love it. It would definitely be my guilty pleasure song of the year if it wins MGP, I love this kind of music.
I agree. I instantly like it, and I hate that type of music. Don’t know if I’m biased since I’m norwegian though. But still, there is something there that people like me that hate this music can like, it’s promising.
There’s no need to feel guilty.
Whoever wins Denmark’s selection must film a proper music video for their entry prior to embarking on the promotional tour.
I’m really into Fuld Effekt, haha. My kind of jam.
I believe both REDDI’s “The Show” and Full Effekt’s “Rave Med De Hårde Drenge” would be an interesting chance of pace from the normally fluffy and cozy Danish entries. In theory I’m more into the first one, but whoever gives the best performance will probably have my support. I also like “Let Me Go” and I’m curious to check how well Josie and Jack can combine to sell it.
Only one stands out…Full Effekt- “Rave Med De Hårde Drenge”
It will stir up the public!
Dont know what happened but Danish MGP used to be a prestige show where established artists and songwriters fought to take part in it. Now it rather seems that established artists want to stay as far away from MGP as possible leaving it to be just another Saturday entertainment show. A few established artists could raise the quality
These are all boring and noneventful…
Ok Denmark… it’s hard to say if Denmark will make a final or not… After Fyr og Flamme were not the best in Denmark last year and yet they finished 11th in the semi-final which is not nothing for a rather average song and average voices! For me, waiting for the lives (the most determining thing to see who stands out) : 1. Hallelujah 2. The Show 3. Let Me Go 4. Happy Go Lucky 5 = Vinden Suser Ind I don’t understand why so much enthusiasm for the Fuld Effekt song because it’s so horrible in terms of the… Read more »
Fuld Effekt – Rave med de hårde drenge is a banger. We here in Denmark (especially the young) like that kind of music. Its just a good dance party song.
strident rap, a messy song yeah super fun my god !!!… you’ll have to see the live but for now, I don’t like this horrible song at all, after I understand that there are people who love it is their right and I respect!
But, Denmark in my eyes, should not choose this song because otherwise it is the 41st place for them !!
and people who put negative on my comment, I have no right to feel different emotions and have different tastes ??? I dream !!!
I will vote for it no matter what
I don’t understand this depressive mood. There are still so many entries to be announced. Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan will have a strong internal selection, as almost always. Greece and Cyprus are also promising. I think this is just a year of Eastern Europe.
Azerbaijan will probably send another outsourced plastic pop entry, Russia will send something penned by Kirkorov, and Armenia might be the only one that can surprise positively from the three. I’d rather hold out atm.
As a Dane, I’m just embarrassed about this level. But without a doubt, Full Effect – “Rave With The Hard Boys” must win. Its just a banger!
I love ” rave med de hårde dreng”, and I hate that type of music! I’m equally dissapointed with our norwegian selection this year, its so BORING.
I kinda agree with the norwegian selection, but 2021 was also so strong, so we can’t complain about it.
Just saw an interview with these guys. They’re quite serious about it. They even cited Måneskin as their inspiration for entering. Only thing I think might be bad is that they are probably going to translate it if they win. (They said so themselves).
If they’re just going to translate the song in English if they win DMGP, why didn’t they just submit the song in English in the first place? Cut out the middleman and spare the disappointment.
Will a music video for the English version of “Rave med de harde drenge” be possible before Eurovision?
conf3ssions + full effekt
“Our expectations for you were low, but HOLY …”
DR has been struggling for quite a while to come with one competitive tune. 8 fillers it is. Or they simply don’t care anymore. I think in 2013 they really wanted it because Sweden won and hosted so close to them and they were like we can do that too and they did it with a great stage and reportedly very high costs and since then they don’t bother anymore and seem to bother less and less. Seems like they need Sweden to win in order to give a sh*t. And yes, WTF about heart shaped hole? The last good… Read more »
Well, thats because Denmark NEVER vote for ballads. Thats why it didnt won. The people has never voted for a ballad
Wasn’t “Only Teardrops” a ballad?
I wouldn’t call it that.
Aw, but I love ballads! 🙁
Midtempo.
I don’t know if there’s some preconceived idea about Denmark’s selection just being bad regardless because, honestly, it hasn’t been that great these last many years. But I am actually very pleased with a majority of the songs entering this year. There are songs in both English and Danish, in a variety of genres. There are both soloists and groups. Not all of them are absolutely amazing, but what country’s selection is? I don’t agree that it is a weak selection. Several of these songs are what you would hear on the radio in Denmark. Personally, I really want Fuld… Read more »
I agree wholeheartedly with this comment.
Maybe we are danes but i got the same feeling that the biggest part of ESC fans just have the idea that no matter what then they have to be dissapointed in the danish selection and be harsh and just dont like it and go “well worst of all.. Last year was bad but this year.. Man its horrible”.. Maybe they are just trying to pull alot of other countries down so someone else might think this is bad and that would boost the chances of their own country.. Just there could be someone with nothing better to do.. ESC… Read more »
Maybe “Hallelujah” or “Rave med de here drenge”. Weak selection.
This is the day of disappointments. First Germany, now Denmark. Where are the outstanding entries 2022 ? Thanks god we have Mahmood & Blanco.
Happy Go Lucky is giving me slight Christine and the Queens vibes which is a good thing. All in all, nobody taking any big risks with this selection but I imagine a lot rests on a good live performance.
This year looks very weak for now probably the weakest year after 2017. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if Italy wins again this year.
Dmgp used to be such a great national selection in the past. Now it’s so bad.
