Excited about Eurovision 2022? Then grab yourself a seat and get ready for the first points of the annual OGAE poll – where fans around the world cast their votes for their favourite acts in this year’s contest.

On Sunday, OGAE France shared the first results of the OGAE poll 2022…and it’s amazing news for the host country. Italy’s Mahmood and Blanco are the first to win a set of douze points this season with their contemporary and emotional song “Brividi

OGAE France named Sweden’s Cornelia Jakobs their second favourite, awarding “Hold Me Closer” 10 points. In the third spot it’s another ballad — The Netherlands’ S10 and her song “De Diepte“. Yes, it’s a run of ballads at the top.

OGAE Poll 2022

Votes from OGAE France

  • Italy – 12 points
  • Sweden – 10 points
  • The Netherlands – 8 points
  • United Kingdom – 7 points
  • Poland – 6 points
  • Spain – 5 points
  • Finland – 4 points
  • Norway – 3 points
  • Austria – 2 points
  • Ukraine – 1 point

France’s votes aligned very closely with current betting odds. Both Italy and Sweden are in the top three favourites to win Eurovision along with front-runner Ukraine. France’s fourth pick — the UK — is frequently among the Top 4 with various betting houses.

Will the OGAE poll 2022 predict the winner of Eurovision 2022?

The OGAE poll winner doesn’t always predict the future winner of Eurovision. For example, last year, Malta’s Destiny Chukunyere won the OGAE Poll, but placed out of the top 5 in Eurovision 2021. In previous years, they’ve often chosen favourites who ultimately stayed in the semi-finals, as occurred in 2013 when OGAE Poll 2013’s runner-up Valentina Monetta failed to secure a spot in the final for San Marino. However, the organisation does often place future Eurovision winners on their podium. In 2018, they correctly predicted victory for Israel’s Netta. Take the results with a hefty pinch of salt!

Over the next few weeks, the remaining OGAE groups will announce their points in this year’s poll to determine their Eurovision winner. Stay tuned because by the end of April we will know which singer and song is this year’s fan favourite to win Eurovision 2022.

So far, only OGAE France has released their points. This means that there are 42 other clubs that will reveal their votes soon, so anything can change!

What do you think? Who do you think will win the OGAE poll 2022? Let us know in the comments below!

I am sure Germany receives zero points in this poll. On the other side, INFE poll started, too and the first country which gave their points was the Czech Republic and Germany received two points.

Last year Germany received zero points in the OGAE poll.

Last year I predicted top 3 right. While bookies polls were different. I don’t find polls bookies reliable. e.g. OGAE is fan based, they don’t take into consideration perfornance, vocal etc. Since it is song contest I use my experience of watching Eurovision for long time and that I know musical taste of viewers. Also I take into consideration the popularity, the contender, contemporary, the lyrics the music of the song and then I combine my favourites and my prediction equals the result. This year so far I have uk, italy, Spain, germany that are waking me up. But this… Read more »

Even though it kind of hurts me as a Greek to see OGAE not awarding us at least a single point, I cannot help but smile when I see that they’ve voted for six countries that belong in my personal top 10. 🙂 Especially the UK, that song might be the most unique they have sent in the past 10 years (well, alongside their 2017 entry) and it would make me ecstatic to observe my personal winner, Sam Ryder, claiming victory in Torino.

Just wait for it, there are over 40 more OGAE clubs, and I’m sure that Greece will ultimately be in top 10, as well as in the real contest. Agree about the UK. After Lucie, it’s my favorite entry of theirs for a long time, and Sam winning would be totally ok by me. 🙂

If you look at the whole too then they were not tgat far away. There is always one or two flopping song in the top ten before the contest begins. So they as well as the odds are not that far away. A song in the bottom never wins. And one of the songs in too ten usually wins. But it us too early to say yet.

Zero points for Greece, Albania, Portugal and Lithuania?

Also, very important to note, Spain is the highest-ranked non-ballad on this list. I think this shows that Spain will excel thanks to the abundance of ballads this year. Things are looking good for Chanel, even though the OGAEs will underrate her.

Colin
Colin

Reply to  Thallo

I personally wouldn’t call UK a ballad, but a mid-tempo pop song, and even Poland, which is ballad by instrumentation and lyrical content, is still at least mid-tempo, if not uptempo. Still, noted that Spain is the highest ranked full-fledged ”bop”, and yes, it *should* do well in the contest! Go, Chanel!
Also, agree for these countries getting points, especially Portugal and Greece. Have patience, a lot more OGAE polls to cover. 🙂

For me it is a song that has a slower tempo, usually with few instruments (like a piano), and a singer that sings about love. Italy is the the home of the greatest ballads. And this year Brividi is in many ways such a classic according to me.

Okay, I’ll call it already: Those Top Four of the French vote will also ultimately be the Top Four of the full OGAE voting – and in that particular order, as well.

But once more, it will only prove the fan clubs’ detachment from reality, as non of these countries will win and especially Sweden can only hope for 8th place at best.

I’m also absolutely sure Italy, the Netherlands and the UK will end up within the Top 10, if not Top 5. So I actually don’t even think OGAE France’s vote is too far off.

But anything but a Ukrainian victory in May would be a huge upset. And I can already see the OGAE voting not reflecting that.

And just for clarification: I’ve never before declared a winner in advance. But this year, I’m expecting a new record in televoting points and I don’t think the juries will rate ‘Stefania’ low either.

Here we go again, the bashing of Sweden over and over again. This year we sent a power ballad with a rocky edge written and sung by the artist herself. 100 Swedish entry. Authentic . This song has the typical Swedish sound – actually stemming from swedish folk music that mixes undertones of sadness with the feeling of being elevated. This mix sad/sweet/happy that is very very Swedish. Of course not everyones cup of tea. But I love it.

I didn’t even say something negative about the song. I actually rather like it. It’s just not going to be a Top 5 finisher.

As a fan of the Swedish music culture I hated basically all your recent entries, but this one is really good, and yes, it does sound authentically Swedish to me. For once all those jury points that you invariably get seem justified. There is indeed this melancholy in the song that makes it stand out. Of course it’s still very commercial and accessible… but Swedes aren’t known for experimenting, they’re known for making music for the masses.

As for Ukraine’s chances … finishing top 5 with the juries isn’t a must. Sure, it usually is the case with the winning entry. But if there’s a tight race for the jury points with three or four countries within narrow margins, that would only strengthen the power of the televote. Don’t forget: Sweden, the Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Poland and Australia basically all try to appeal to the same target group. And none of these songs is particularly bad. I’d say, a top 10 jury result for Ukraine is already a given. And with this many dramatic and… Read more »

Its hard to see Ukraine winning if they don’t get top 5 with the jury. Since 2016 when the votes were split into jury and televotes, the least amount of points between 1st and 6th place with the jury was 94 points. So that would mean (in a hypothetical scenario), first place would have to get a considerably lower televote than Ukraine in order for Ukraine to pass them out and have half a chance at winning, not to mention if other countries in the top three or top five get a similar amount of points to first place, Ukraine… Read more »

I like the song but she looks a little bit lack luster in the live performance on youtube. The light show doesn’t help. She is not conveying the feeling so well. But yes the song is nice.
