For the first time since 2019, Armenia will set foot on the Eurovision stage in Turin. The country recently celebrated a victory at Junior Eurovision 2021. Hoping to achieve similar success at Eurovision 2022, it’s Rosa Linn who has been chosen to represent the country with her song “Snap”.

Armenia in Eurovision 2022: Rosa Linn with “Snap”

Rosa Linn — born Roza Kostandyan — is a 21-year-old singer, songwriter and producer. Born in Vanadzor, Armenia, her first taste of Eurovision came in the form of Armenia’s national selection for Junior Eurovision 2013, where she performed the song “Gitem”.

Rosa Linn later linked up with Armenian Eurovision star Tamar Kaprelian through her Nvak Collective project. Kaprelian, who was a member of supergroup Genealogy in 2015, is also part of the team who penned “Snap”.

“Snap” was written by Rosa Linn, Larzz Principato, Courtney Harrell, Allie Crystal, Tamar Mardirossian Kaprelian and Jeremy Dusoulet.

What do the “Snap” lyrics mean?

“Snap” tells a tale of Rosa Linn trying to move on from an ex. She sings “It’s 4am, I can’t turn my head off”, suggesting this person consumes her thoughts even when she doesn’t want them to.

Rosa Linn feels frustrated that people expect her to move on with a snap of her fingers, “as if it was really that easy for me to get over you”. The process is not that simple and Rosa Linn says “I just need time”.

The chorus has a meditative aura about it, with Rosa Linn counting as though she is reminding herself to breathe. The Armenian star sings, “Snapping one, two, where are you? You’re still in my heart. Snapping three, four, don’t need you here anymore. Get out of my heart.”

Through the song’s bridge, Rosa Linn expresses her exasperation and frustration at the expectation of others. She says that “if one more person says, ‘You should get over it'”, she “might stop talking to people before I snap”.

At the time of the song’s release, Rosa said it details a journey into her inner world:

“I think we’ve all been at a snapping point, where it felt like there’s no way out and that the entire world is just crumbling down around you. You start questioning everything, including yourself. I have been there. And what I realized was that I had the strength to shape my reality – it just took getting out of my own way and finding inner-peace. It’s all about self-love and accepting that you are enough. Writing ‘Snap’ was a form of therapy for me and I hope that it can be that for others who are also going through hard times.”

“Snap” lyrics — Rosa Linn (Armenia Eurovision 2022)

Written and composed by: Rosa Linn, Larzz Principato, Courtney Harrell, Allie Crystal, Tamar Mardirossian Kaprelian and Jeremy Dusoulet.

It’s 4 am
I can’t turn my head off
Wishing these memories would fade
They never do
Turns out people lie
They say, “Just snap your fingers”
As if it was really that easy for me to get over you
I just need time

Snapping one, two
Where are you?
You’re still in my heart
Snapping three, four
Don’t need you here anymore
Get out of my heart
‘Cause I might snap

I’m writing a song
Said, “This is the last one”
How many last songs are left?
I’m losing count
Since June 22nd
My heart’s been on fire
I’ve been spending my nights in the rain
Trying to put it out

So I’m snapping one, two
Where are you?
You’re still in my heart
Snapping three, four
Don’t need you here anymore
Get out of my heart
‘Cause I might snap
Oh-oh
‘Cause I might snap
Oh-oh

And if one more person says, “You should get over it”
Oh, I might stop talking to people before I snap, snap, snap
Oh, I might stop talking to people before I snap

Snapping one, two
Where are you? (Where are you?)
You’re still in my heart (Still in my heart)
Snapping three, four
Don’t need you here anymore (Need you here anymore)
Get out of my heart
‘Cause I might snap
Oh-oh (Snap)
‘Cause I might snap
Oh-oh (Snap)
Get out of my heart
Oh-oh
‘Cause I might snap
Oh-oh (Get out of my heart, get out of)
‘Cause I might snap

Such cute lyrics! I love how the chorus gives both a vibe of children’s counting-out rhyme and one of a witch’s spell at the same time. I rarely can relate to love songs but in this case I totally share Rosa’s feelings for people rushing others to “move on” and “get over” either thing, not understanding that everybody processes things at their own pace. I hate it! The backstory of the lyrics is also very appealing to me. The song itself is in my top 5 and I cross my fingers we see more songs of this and related genres… Read more »

I like that Armenia tried a very different approach this year. And the entry keeps growing on me. A really charming song by a charming singer.

Honestly, I’m not mad that Armenia’s entry isn’t amazing this year.

The country is just out of a major conflict, the economy is in ruins AND they’re hosting Junior Eurovision this year. Let’s hope they get back on track next year.

Haven’t really thought about my top 40 this year yet but this song will definitely be in my top 10 at least. I really hope she can reach the final at least. I’m listening to it on a daily basis already

Happy feel good song. Will not win the originality award, but who cares.

A very pleasant and laid back yet catchy entry. The lyrics, though simple, are effective enough. I don’t know how it will fare in the contest but it will have my support.

This is really pretty and I think it’s underappreciated because it’s not what Armenia usually sends. I think that’s what makes it more genuine. I will be rooting for Armenia’s qualification!

I didn’t expected it since it’s not something totally new or absolutely innovative but I have to admit that this song’s probably my favorite this year. It just feels honest, authentic and pure in itself and Rosa Linn’s voice is amazing. I’m very excited how the staging will going to look but I trust Armenia in that.

Weak semi final and number 17 this is going to qualify. And its running order will help it to beat Iceland/Denmark/ Switzerland/Lithuania (the countires sharing similar strength with Armenia)

Remember Norway are before Armenia. People will talk about Norway and will not pay attention to Armenia if their staging doesn’t grab their attention.
