Following the win of Italian rock band Måneskin last year, we’re seeing a huge number of other groups taking a chance at Eurovision in 2022. From rock to pop to funk to hip hop and beyond, this year’s groups cover a myriad of musical genres. But which group is your favourite?

In this poll, we’re only covering groups with three or more members — no duos, sorry!

You can listen to all of the songs below and then vote for your favourite. You can vote for as many songs as you like — but remember that you can only vote once.

Group acts of Eurovision 2022

Bulgaria: Intelligent Music Project – “Intention”

The Intelligent Music Project is a rock supergroup, fronted by Chilean singer Ronnie Romero. The group also includes Bulgarian drummer Stoyan Yankulov-Stundzhi, who previously represented Bulgaria at Eurovision 2007 and 2013 as part of the duo Elitsa & Stoyan. In Turin, IMP will be performing the prog rock number “Intention”.

Czech Republic: We Are Domi – “Lights Off”

The three-piece Czech-Norwegian electropop group takes it name from lead singer Dominika Hašková. The group founded in the UK in 2018 and have released a number of singles. After winning the Czech national final, they’ll be taking “Lights Off” to Eurovision 2022.

Denmark: Reddi – “The Show”

Reddi is a Swedish-Danish group, bringing together a punk-pop-rock sound. The group is fronted by Siggy Savery, and includes drummer Ihan Haydar who was part of the backing band for Soluna Samay at Eurovision 2012. Reddi will perform the pop-rock song “The Show” in Turin.

Finland: The Rasmus – “Jezebel”

The Finnish alternative rock band are one of the best known acts of Eurovision 2022. They had an international hit in 2003 with “In the Shadows”, going to No.1 in the UK, Germany and top five in numerous other countries. For Eurovision 2022, they’ll perform “Jezebel”, co-written with iconic American rock songwriter Desmond Child.

France: Alvan & Ahez – “Fulenn”

Taking the Breton language to Eurovision, France is represented by two Brittany artists — the musician Alvan and the vocal trio Ahez. Ahez sing in the traditional kan ha diskan style, mashed up with the Celtic electronica sound of “Fuelnn”.

Georgia: Circus Mircus – “Lock Me In”

Circus Mircus are a Georgian prog rock band whose members dress as circus clowns. While the identities of Circus Mircus members are anonymous, there are rumours of a connection to Georgia’s Eurovision 2016 act Nika Kocharov and Young Georgian Lolitaz. Circus Mircus will perform their song “Lock Me In” at Eurovision 2022.

Iceland: Systur – “Með hækkandi sól”

Systur are sisters — Sigga, Beta & Elín Eyþórsdóttir. The Icelandic trio come from a music family and each have their own work as solo artists. The group previously performed as Tripolia and Sigga, Beta & Elín — but for Eurovision, they’ll represent their family bonds as Systur. Their song for Turin is the folk-rock song “Með hækkandi sól”.

Latvia: Citi Zēni – “Eat Your Salad”

The six-piece Latvian pop band Citi Zēni formed in 2020 but have already released one album and a number of singles. The group fuse hip hop and pop sounds with their bold live energy. They’ll be taking their eco friendly song “Eat Your Salad” to Turin.

Moldova: Zdob și Zdub and Frații Advahov – “Trenulețul”

Moldovan folk-punk band Zdob și Zdub have teamed up with the folk duo Frații Advahov, made up of brothers Vasile and Vitalie. Zdob și Zdub are Eurovision veterans, having previously competed in 2005 and 2011. For their third decade, they’ll be performing “Trenulețul”, celebrating the Chișinău-Bucharest train line.

Norway: Subwoolfer – “Give That Wolf a Banana”

The mysterious Subwoolfer are yet to reveal the identities of the men behind the masks, who currently go by the names Keith, Jim and DJ Astronaut. The electro-pop group appears to have formed especially for Eurovision, where they will perform their song “Give That Wolf a Banana”.

Slovenia: LPS – “Disko”

Last Pizza Slice — otherwise known as LPS — are a Slovenian soul-funk-pop band. The young group formed at high school and won the EMA Freš newcomers contest. From there, they went to to win Slovenia’s national final EMA, ensuring they’d represent their country at Eurovision 2022 with the song “Disko”.

Ukraine: Kalush Orchestra – “Stefania”

The rap group Kalush Orchestra combine modern hip hop style with traditional Ukraine folk sounds. They formed in 2019 and are signed to the iconic American label Def Jam Recordings. Group member Ihor Didenchuk is also a member of Ukraine’s Eurovision 2021 act Go_A. Kalush Orchestra will perform “Stefania” at Eurovision 2022.

I did not follow closely, but why are the identities of Circus Mircus still unknown after their appearance in preparties? When your poll on returning artists did not include Georgia, I thought the 2016 artists were not involved this year.

Last year groups were so much better. There are some enjoyable groups this year but none of them is as good as Måneskin, Go_A, The Roop, The Black Mambas or Da?i & Gagnamagni?.

I’ll go for Kalush Orchestra in this poll.

Almost every group brings authenticity and originality every year. And thats what I love. Btw Austria and Italy are duos, but you should add them in this poll like in polls of ESCRadio. Or do you prepare special poll for two duos?

It’s probably because the definition for “group” that Wiwibloggs is using here is synonymous with, “band”. In that sense, Austria and Italy’s contestants aren’t necessarily groups, they’re collaborations between solo artists.

If that were the case, then technically speaking only Ahez should be included in the poll since Alvan is a solo artist?

I suppose Alvan gets in on this poll for collaborating with a group. The same way that Fra?ii Advahov does.

Ding Dong, I’m so stupid! Fra?ii Advahov is band, and not a solo artist. Oops…

Italy have won every wiwibloggs poll they’ve been in, so I’m guessing that’s why they are not included here.

Let’s face it, Eurovision is not geared for true groups. The fact that there is no requirement for a song to be performed live means that there is in essence no purpose for a good group, other than from a visual, aesthetic perspective. If we are including vocalists as part of a “group”, there is an argument that virtually all acts in the contest should be called a group given the prevalence of backing vocalists? Maybe even the person pressing the pre-recorded vocal backing track button also needs to be considered part of the group? There is very little legacy… Read more »

It depends what one refers to as a “group”? The article’s sub-title refers to the legacy left by Maneskin. I contend that acts like Norway and France are a million miles away from a “group” like Maneskin. Norway and France are much more closely aligned to Austria or Italy, or even Portugal so the decision as to what is in or out of this poll seems arbitrary. What are we being asked to vote on? Why does it make sense to compare an act with three people or more as their only loosely comparable characteristic? Why has Subwoolfer got any… Read more »

Good point. If we’re looking for Maneskin vibes then Achille Lauro should be included.

My theory is these polls are based on whatever thing 10 or so artists have in common.

And one other thing, whenever a singer/vocalist/performer mimes their song, it gets absolutely panned on boards like this. Yet there is exceptionally little derision applied to those faking to play their instruments. It all seems very odd to me.

Ethan, Thomas and Victoria probably would have loved to play live, but are not allowed. I hate that there is no live instruments, but I can’t blame the performers. I blame the EBU.

I’m definitely not blaming the performers. I would love for the whole performance to be “live”. One of my favourite Top of the Pops performances back in the day was Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, I would absolutely love it if we saw that on the Eurovision stage as a protest to what is currently going on at the contest.

And a “group” like Nirvana would definitely top this poll in my book!

It would be nice, but maybe not really fair if it’s on public money. Although maybe it could lead to a televote win.

2022 is a good year for groups / bands. 12 of them, wow! I voted for Subwoolfer and Alvan & Ahez, as both are in my top 5. Kalush Orchestra gets my third vote, both out of respect, and for their song being genuinely good.
