On Thursday we exclusively revealed that the Eurovision 2022 Semi-Final 1 interval will include a DJ set. And today Italian broadcaster RAI pretty much confirmed that, revealing that DJ Benny Benassi, iconic producer Dardust, and British indie pop group Sophie & The Giants will deliver a set entitled “The Dance of Beauty”.

Semi-Final 1 interval: Dardust, Benny Benassi and Sophie & The Giants

Dardust

Dardust — known to mom and dad as Dario Faini — has a very strong Eurovision connection: He co-wrote and produced Mahmood’s Eurovision 2019 song “Soldi”, which placed second that year.

He’s also written songs for some of our other Sanremo favourites including Marco Mengoni, Annalisa, Giusy Ferreri, Elodie and Ermal Meta. A wildly popular pianist, he’s performed at the Superbowl, the NBA All-Star Game and even the Olympics.

Benny Benassi

If you’re a fan of remixes, then you probably know Benny Benassi. His remix of “Satisfaction” has more than 112 million streams on Spotify, while his Chris Brown collab “Beautiful People” has around 128 million. His 2008 remix of Public Enemy’s “Bring the Noise” even won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording.

Sophie & The Giants

234 million. That’s how many Spotify streams this British indie pop band has racked up for their song “Hypnotized.”

Known as SATG, the English-group formed in Sheffield in 2015. Its members — Sophie Scott (singer), Toby Holmes (guitar), Antonia Pooles (bass) and Chris Hill (drums) — first made an impact with their song “The Light”, which was used as the trailer for the racing game “Grid” and later a Vodafone commercial in Germany.

Their song “Hypnotized”, which they dropped in 2020, drew heavily on the Italo Disco genre and went 3X platinum in Italy. They subsequently collabed with Italian singer Michele Bravi on “Falene”, so will feel right at home in Italy.

Eurovision producers have been keeping quiet about the Eurovision 2022 intervals, but sources close to production revealed some more information exclusively to Wiwibloggs during the recent pre-party season.

A source tells us that the first semi-final DJ set will make full use of the sun installation. The giant arches of the sun will take on the look of discs. As each disc spins a new musician or performer will appear from the orb, perhaps to introduce a new song or change in segment.

What do you think about these three acts? Are you excited to see them share the stage in some capacity? Let us know what you’re thinking down below.

Off topic but important:
Sergey Lazarev is gonna perform at a pro invasion concert on 29 April.
I am so glad I always hated his cheesy entries and kitchen sink stagings!

Wasn’t he trying to get pity from people by posting those “I hope war doesn’t come to my country :’-(” -posts on Insta?

I won’t be listening to any Russian artists music until I’m sure of their personal values these days!

Likely forced to take part. As many know, he has special relationship with Ukraine, especially having worked there.

He was among the first to speak out about the war before his Instagram was scrubbed.

If Sergey wants to be true to himself then he can leave Russia. Until then I can’t understand people who feel sympathy for him.

When a country controls every move you make, especially as a public figure, being able to leave may seem impossible when your life and that of your kids are at stake.

Don’t even start with this “forced” excuse. Many Russians and Russian celebrities left Russia for “a vacation”. And so could he. How do I know? Half of them are in my boujee neighborhood in Tel Aviv. Like seriously, I only hear Russian on the street since the war started.

About 1,400 tickets have been reserved (by the Eurovision organisation) for political and public figures. In the previous years, does anyone know how many tickets were reserved for those categories?
