Bulgaria’s Intelligent Music Project have taken to the stage for Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals. They performed “Intention” another time ahead of next week’s dress rehearsals and live shows. Did they venture out of the safety zone? Scroll down to find out…
Bulgaria’s Intelligent Music Project “Intention” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsal
Padraig: Bulgaria was the very first country to release its song for Eurovision 2022. And now, six long months later, we finally get our first taste of the entry on the song contest stage. The good news is that it has certainly come on a long way since December. The arena setting really gives some much-needed oomph to “Intention”, which sounds rather tired and dated on record. Contrary to their dad rock image, the men of Intelligent Music Project really manage to deliver this with some style and panache. The number starts with a split-screen, which gives the guitarist and drummer their moment to shine. It then cuts to Ronnie strutting into centre stage, complete with a hat Bono might wear. The headpiece is quickly dispensed with, allowing the gents to rock out. They’ve brought with them a hemisphere made up of speakers. It doesn’t do much other than light up, although it does distract from the misbehaving stage. In fact, Bulgaria is more dependent on lights than anything else, so they remain relatively unscathed by the broken set.

this is not my cup of tea, but this may very well qualify based on their performance.
The black thing actually enhanced the staging, makings the flames stand out more. This actually looks good, compared to some that have that black thing awkwardly standing out.
This staging Definitely does uplift Bulgaria enough to not land in last place, but is it enough to push it over to the final? That remains to be seen
The Song was meh (not the worst of the season as many thought) but they managed to make it a competitive entry, cheers Bulgaria!
This staging just… works, that’s it. Good luck, Bulgaria!
This has been the surprise of Day 5 for me. Well done to Bulgaria and to IMP.
Bulgaria is going to do a lot better than virtually everyone had expected. This has always been a competent rock song, it is only through the performance that I think most people are now seeing the potential.
As always, the song is mediocre but definitely feels more like a Eurovision entry now with this E P I C staging!!!
This still have zero chances of qualifying.
Hate this song with a passion but the staging really elevates it.
The singers would stand out better if they wore another colour which is not black due to the broken stage.
But if they wore non-black they wouldn’t match the dad rock template their sponsors know and love
Now I think I can justify a bit more why I placed them 25th in my top. I still think they won’t qualify but they certainly are not sure NQs anymore. This staging rocks!
Bulgaria might actually be able to qualify. I still think they won’t but they could. Hey anyone could qualify TBH.
If this qualifies, I swear to god I will fly to Turin and turn that sun around myself.
Probably the least affected by that stage. Looks nice, the song is still boring.
Damn. I was not prepared for it to look that decent.
This is not as dead and buried as people make it out to be.
I really feel like this is one of the songs that benefited the most from being live. I think people will be shocked by it. The hate is rather undeserved, songwise.
That’s what I’ve said, it’s not a s bad as many think it is
