Moldova Zdob Si Zdub and Advahov Brothers Trenuletul Eurovision 2022 first rehearsal
EBU / Andres Putting

The first day of Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals continues with Moldova’s Zdob si Zdub and Advahov Brothers. The three-time Eurovision legends and their newfound musical partners showcased “Trenuletul” on camera in full glory. What did we think? Scroll down to find out…

Moldova’s Zdob si Zdub & Advahov Brothers “Trenuletul” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsal

Padraig: Those familiar with Zdob si Zdub’s two previous Eurovision appearances will already be prepared to expect the unexpected. And while there is most definitely plenty of crazy, it doesn’t quite match the heights of the drumming granny or the pointy hatted unicyclist from 2005 and 2011 respectively. Nonetheless, there’s plenty of madness to go around. The arena is filled with warm pinks and yellows while the two brothers peddle their upbeat Moldovan folk in matching black and white suits. There’s also a fun rock n’ roll moment when the guitarist gets down on his knees and lies backwards on the floor. As he does so, the staging resembles a tube map. Oddly, besides a choo, choo at the end, there are few other references to the train around which the song is based. One can only assume that the broken LED might have provided a bit more loco-locomotive.

Qualifier for sure. Feet tapping , hand clapping , sing along folk song. This is what Eurovision is all about . It has to be in the final.

Let’s see how many 12 points buy Moldova this year to qualify…
Last year with Natalia Gordienko worked.

I don’t think they bought it… Phillip Kirkorov was just a powerhouse/votemagnet, so that was it. Do you have any proof that the points were bought?

Fourth place in televote being the country with the most 12 points given of the whole semifinal?

I loved Natalia last year! Have you seen that music video? Sexy sassy cupcakes dancing with ice creams, pure fun.

The problem wasn’t the video, it was her performance. It seems that I cannot paste links here due to approval, but:
Estonia, for instance, giving 12 points to Moldova at the semifinal, and 0 at the final. Quite suspicious, don’t you think? Same with Latvia.

It appears here that Eurovision experience counts. As silly as the outfits and everything else looks, the band seems very comfortable and confident in their place on the stage. Also, there’s a tube map! 🙂

I don’t want this to qualify but they are presenting it about as well as they could.
If you like this sort of thing, you’ll like this sort of thing. Good rehearsal for Moldova!

Somehow EVEN THEM have a better stage than Albania today. Basically, probably EVERYONE seems to have a better staging to show than Albania today.

This sounds completely different from the studio version. And it’s really messy.

Wait wait wait a dang minute. Did they change the song again or is this still the second version of it? It sounds as good as the original did. Also the stage doesn’t look as bad as I thought. Hmm… nice. We shall see what the full thing looks like!

Well, I am smelling a NQ over here. Maybe something changes, when the actual 2nd rehearsal footage gets published

I always thought they would Q and I still think they will. Even if it’s not a comfortable Q.

Fun, upbeat folk—I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I’m really glad there’s a place for this at Eurovision.
