San Marino Achille Lauro Stripper Eurovision 2022 rehearsal
Photo: EBU / NATHAN REINDS

There’s still a long evening ahead for those in Turin as the Big Five prepare for their first rehearsals. But for those following second run-throughs, the day is over. However, not before San Marino’s Achille Lauro took to the stage for “Stripper”. How did the Italian rockstar perform on home soil? Let’s find out…

San Marino’s Achille Lauro “Stripper” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsal

Padraig: For a brief moment angels sang hallelujah from on high as it looks like Achille has pulled a Germany 2018 and brought his own LED. However, the moment is fleeting as the red LED prop quickly pulls away to show the regular stage. And the angels don’t hang around for long either, as Achille unleashes a performance that oozes sexual decadence. Lauro is dressed like a glam rocker that dabbles as a pimp in his spare time, he dons a cowboy hat, a fur boa and a sheer bodysuit. Two of his band members are trapped inside cages – think Cyprus 2016. Another plays out front, giving Achille the opportunity to suggestively grind against him and tease some man on man action that never comes to fruition. The moment that everyone has been waiting for comes after what feels like an age when he mounts the mechanical bull. It looks better in the pictures, as once he’s on top of it there’s nowhere else for the performance to go.

He seems really tired and is putting no energy into this performance. The song is starting to sound like an end-of-night-I’ve-had-too-many-drinks-at-the-pub ballad.

I really wanted not to like him at first but he has an unstoppable and fiery energy that also makes up for all the dull entries this year. Fingers crossed we’ll see him in the running order on Saturday

The song might not be my cup of tea but Achille deserves to go to the final anyways, that performance (or at least what’s available of it) is pretty fun to watch! 😀
I think it’ll probably be one of the most iconic moments of this season.

This is getting better by every minute!!! Everyone, initially doubting it based on a poor San Marino live stage… Not even considering how different it would look on a massive stage like the actual Eurovision. Song was always great ( and better than Dominica for sure) and the new staging elevates it even more! Hooray!!! Best rock entry of the year!

Finally a song for a certain kind of man. (Obviously I cannot elaborate, for the sake of the actual children.) Thank you Achille. 🙂

I always though San Marino had a chance to qualify given Achille is a star in Italy with the backing of a major label and knows how to perform. Part of me feels like this is like that accessories cliche line—he probably should’ve taken one thing off before it got on stage. There’s just so much going on—cages, outfit, fire, hat, bull, fog, fire, graphics.

This is what you get with Achille. San Marino have given themselves a chance with this presentation.

The best thing about being German this year is the ability to vote for this in semi #2

Something to make us feel great about ourselves while powering the country with Putin’s blood-soaked fossil fuels.

I dug this song 6ft under the ground before the first rehearsals and now I’m digging it up again and putting it to my considered qualifiers, lmao. Thank you, Achille, for changing my life for 3 minutes. XD
