Spain’s Chanel won Europe over during the pre-party season. And since landing in Turin for Eurovision 2022, she’s kept the fire burning, turning out a series of fiery rehearsals that left our eyes burning with her precise dance moves and her glorious voice.

Now, as hype builds surrounding the Spanish songstress and her chances of winning, Head of Delegation Eva Mora says that RTVE is ready to take up the challenge.

Speaking exclusively to Wiwibloggs ahead of our interview with the Cuban-born star on Saturday, Eva said:

“We did the best Olympic Games in history and would make a great ESC 2023. Spain has all the tourist infrastructures and we are sure that the institutions would be involved. We already have a plan to host ESC 2023.”

You’ll recall that Eva launched Benidorm Fest 2022 — Spain’s highly successful and much talked-about Eurovision selection show. It set a TV ratings high for RTVE and was trending all over social media for weeks. It drew praise domestically and abroad for the variety and quality of its songs.

Chanel is a multifaceted artist, bringing her magic to acting, dancing and singing. She has journeyed all across Spain doing musicals, performing in front of packed houses and transmitting her energy directly to onlookers, sometimes just metres away. With her song “SloMo”, which translates well across borders, she seeks to inspire and energise people at home and abroad.

This is a pop-dance track with an urban and Latin essence. The song was composed by Leroy Sánchez (ESC 2021 songwriter for Spain), Keith Harris, Ibere Fortes, Maggie Szabos and Arjen Thonen.

Writing ahead of Eurovision, I couldn’t hide my love for Chanel and her song.

“Fans of Spain’s Eurovision 2022 act have been using the mango emoji to share their love of Chanel’s juicy entry. But given the spice and enduring burn of her performance, a chilli pepper seems more appropriate. ‘SloMo’ catches fire thanks to its infectious beat and enticing reggaeton feels. But Chanel takes the flames even higher with her eye-popping choreography, which would leave even J. Lo needing to stretch. From the strobe light effects to the killer dance break, this production is a dizzying slice of joy and awe. If a Eurovision winner is based on entertainment, this is easily the most perfect entry of the year.

Do you think that Spain can pull it off? Which city would you like to see host if Chanel comes home with the trophy? Let us know in the comments box down below!

I do not think Eurovision 2023 will be held in Spain. Sorry, but Spain is by far OVER-RATED. Shanel is only good at shaking her booty and singing “boum, boum”. This has nothing to do with music.

Read more »

As I have said it’s very nice to see a country that was struggling since years to come back in the game, that’s true the spanish act make talk more than the others years this year, for certainly good and not good reasons too but that’s not my point. My point is, this way to come back in the game is not the right imo, after all these years in the dark for Spain in Eurovision come back with humility and not with presomptuousness, it’s so bad to see, Eurovision is hard you don’t come like that one year from… Read more »

Hi! Thank you! Yeah that’s true that in Eurovision you have to be patient, you have to bring humility and quality and to try to be regular in terms of quality each years and you will be awarded not especially by a victory directly but at least by enough points to be in the top. In Eurovision to be too greedy too quickly is not productive at all.

What presumptuosness? So when asked in order to not be presumptuous the Spanish HoD must say: no we are not ready to host Eurovision. In fact we dont want to…

As a Spaniard, I hope not. Madrid aspired too many times to host the Olympic Games and the city ended up in debt, the Expo 92 in Seville led to the destruction of heritage in Cordoba just to build a train station. No, it’s not worth it.

People giving opinion without knowing the context of the answer, not even the question asked, assuming maliciously Eva’s words wrong, accusing Spanish eurofans of haters when I can mostly see negative comments about Chanel, in any post about her, complaints about the many posts about her, Guys, thats sounds bad hearted to me, let’s be more respectful. Having said that,
there is no doubt Chanel would be a memorable winner of the year, maybe not the best song, but one of the best full packages. Do you agree? So let’s talk in positive.

They may be ready to host the 2023 edition, but RTVE is clearly not ready to understand the meaning of “wait until you know it for real and zip it until that time comes”.
Certain things are better left unsaid …
But I am sure they will find a whole lot of reasons to contest the final result, if such result doesn’t go along with their own ahead-of-its-themselves illusion. I mean … There is never ESC without nationalist and over-the-top patriotic drama when national egos are hurt by wake-up calls, is there?

SloMo isn’t a breath of fresh air, it is a generic and forgetable song we heard many times before. Die Together is a great song with higher artistic velue then SloMo, but average staging, bad styling, and other better songs/packages, will easily destroy Greek chances of winning this year. Personaly, I don’t see not even one song that has that “Oh, this is miles ahead of all the other competitors by being totaly fresh and different”, but the only one that do have something kinda similar to that feel is Serbia this year

Why are all of the Spanish fans forgetting that this song didn’t even get 4% of the televote in a field of 8? What makes everyone so confident that this will do so well in a field of 25 from the first half? If Spain doesn’t vote for this, why would Estonia or Austria?
