After a restful period over New Year, Eurovision 2023 national final season is now back up and running.

We have a new addition to add to those acts selected in December, bringing the total of chosen songs for Eurovision 2023 up to three.

Therefore, it’s time we pose the ongoing question: who is your favourite act so far?

Scroll down to vote in our poll

Eurovision 2023 acts: New additions

Belgium: Gustaph – “Because of You”

Belgium’s Flemish broadcaster VRT brought back national selection show Eurosong for 2023. And it wouldn’t be national final season without a surprise result — both to fans and Gustaph himself. Finishing third with the jury and second with the public, this was enough for Gustaph to claim victory by just one point. His song, “Because of You”, is a ’90s-influenced blend of pop and soul. Speaking to wiwibloggs, Gustaph said it’s about “anyone who helps you to where you are in life and helps you to say this is who I am and I love who I am because of you.”

Previously chosen acts

Poll: Who is your favourite Eurovision 2023 act so far?

Past results

Our first poll on 23 December was a close one. It was almost evenly split between Albania and Ukraine, but TVORCHI just managed to pull ahead. Will they retain first place for this second poll?

  1. Ukraine: TVORCHI – “Heart of Steel” | 53.18%, 1,253 votes
  2. Albania: Albina & Familja Klemendi – “Duje” | 46.82%, 1,103 votes

Total votes: 2,356

Which Eurovision 2023 act did you vote for? Do you think they’ll still be your favourite once new songs are revealed? Let us know in the comments.

It amazes me how Ukraine is polling lower than Belgium and yet it’s big favourite to win again. Anyone have any ideas why? ??
Must be a better song than we realise ??

To those who say that Belgium’s song sounds outdated: the style is Chicago House (and Soul) that currently is going through a revival with Beyoncé’s latest record also using elements of Chicago House. So is Drake and several others.

In short, Belgium’s song is picking up the leading and newest trend in music.

There are a lot of drama queens here. Grow up… It’s not because your favourite didn’t win their national selection that you have to be that salty… My favourite so far : Belgium! What a nice catchy song!

I love the Eurovision 2023 start!! The songs are amazing, it’s very hard to choose but my top 3 is:

  1. Albania – Albina & Familja Kelmendi – Duje
  2. Ukraine – TVORCHI – Heart of Steel
  3. Belgium – Gustaph – Because Of You

They’re all amazing though <3
Eurovision 2023 is going to be amazing

All of them are awful, but I’d say:

  1. Belgium
  2. Ukraine
  3. Albania

It’s really hard to choose! All the songs are terrible! There is no way they will qualify for the finals, except for Ukraine of course, only because they are the winners of the previous year and because Europe feels sorry for them.

I have to be honest…none of these are good. The Eurovision 2023 starts very weak!
If I had to pick one, I would choose Ukraine (the quality of the song is lightly better and it’s not so chees)
Let’s hope the rest of the songs are good

I don’t like the song from Albania even though I find the intro interesting. I think Ukraine’s song is not bad but it not memorable or enjoyable.
At least Gustaph’s song is fun so I’ll go with him for the moment.
Nothing scream top 15 here and imo Albania will struggle to get to the final. Let’s see after the traditional revamp.

my opinions ( dont care doenvote as much as you want)

albania: 5/10
its nice that it has this traditional and family vibe but not my cup of tea

ukraine: -1/10
the definition of awful. It has this ugly dubstep in the background and then a dude that looks like a rapper saying “dOnT cArE wHaT yOu SaAeyayeyayeywyayayayaysYaygsyayseaAYAYAYAYAY”
simply awful

belgium: 8/10

even if gala and cherine were oerfect for my taste and gala was also perfect for esc
sorry not sorry i like this

It’s literally not though.

Considering that Heart of Steel has only 600k streams on Spotify, 2M views on the official music video and 180k views on the Eurovision YouTube channel, most people don’t find it listenable. That’s really low for a Ukrainian entry.

Albania simply because none of them do anything for me. Ukraine could’ve chosen a winning song but didn’t. Albania’s NF was kinda weak. Belgium’s song is painful.

Well, if I have to choose based on comparison between the three songs then I’ll have to go with Gustaph’s song. Not because it’s something I really enjoy, but amidst songs I don’t really care for that are very mid at least his song is catchy and uplifting

Colin

The three songs are in a really similar realm of neither good or bad. On stage, Belgium could be the most entertaining one, Ukraine feels like the most expensively produced one, and Albania has the most layered melody, even if I’m not a big fan of the lyrics. Overall, they are all around 5/10 to 6/10 for me.

Eurofans go through their own five stages of grief when it comes to an unexpected artist winning a national final. There’s shock, denial, anger, bargaining, and then acceptance. We’ll likely go through this many more times in the national final season.
