benidorm fest

Benidorm Fest 2023 reaches its epic conclusion tonight. Live from the Valencian coast, tonight’s grand final sees eight artists battle it out for the coveted Spanish ticket to Eurovision.

Ahead of the grand final, we asked y’all who you should win the Benidorm Fest crown. And after counting and verifying 4,677 votes, the results are in.

Blanca Paloma a favourite to win Spain’s Benidorm Fest 2023

Running away with the victory in our poll is Benidorm Fest veteran Blanca Paloma with her track “Eaea”. Blanca’s bewitching lullaby won the second semi-final on Thursday night, gaining major traction as a fan favourite. In our poll, Blanca picked up a staggering 42.95% of all votes cast — that’s 2,009 votes in total.

“Eaea” is a flamenco-inspired lullaby, with lyrics deeply entrenched in Spanish history, culture and literature. Blanca’s lyrics are inspired by Federico García Lorca, one of Spain’s best known authors. The moon as a shrine, the night as the unknown, the child as the innocence and ingenuity, death as a reference to the after life, are concepts pulled from García Lorca’s anthologies.

Taking the bronze medal with our readers is Megara with “Arcadia”. The hyperpop songstress received 11.42% of all votes cast — that’s 534 individual votes.

Former fan favourites Vicco, Fusa Nocta and Karmento slip down the rankings, placing fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Alice Wonder places seventh with our readers, while José Otero finishes in last place.

For me it’s Blanca Paloma or Karmento. Songs and voices with authentic Spanish ‘soul’, meaning and tradition. I see both doing well at ESC.

This must be the worst selection I’ve heard in years. The only entry there’s a glimmer of hope for is Agoney and “Quiero arder”

I am fine with any of the top three artists winning tonight. Good luck everyone.

I switched my vote from Megara to Blanca after Thursday. But I do really like seven of the eight finalists, and any result should be fine with me.

Hoping for a miracle because I’d really like to see Vicco or Fusca Nocta in Liverpool. Even Karmento!
