How do I watch Supernova 2023?
You can watch Supernova online via LTV1. The grand final airs on Saturday 11 February at 20:10 CET (GMT + 1).
Did the right acts qualify? Which song would score well for Latvia at Eurovision 2023? Sound off in the comments section below.
It’s funny how noone mentions Alise with Tricky. To me it was a clear standout, a bit better than Patrisha. Patrisha is very good too, but it gets repetitive at the end, while Alise has lots of breaks in between. It’s clearly inspired by K-Pop and I like it. But the obvious choice would be Sudden Lights.
Patrisha’s Hush is SO good. Weird as hell instrumental but it makes it interesting!
First off, what’s the point of having a semi-final in the first place only to shorten the list from 14 songs to 10? Iceland and Latvia like to throw money away, it seems. The juries from Spain understood the assignment (rating both studio songs and live performances), but the Latvian ones only seem to be rating lives. Otherwise, Inspo should have qualified. I feel like Raum and Sudden Lights would both be great choices for Latvia, and I could see these two actually breaking the NQ streak. Patrisha is also good, and could qualify, but the song does get a… Read more »
If only he could sing…
I love “You to hold me”, it giving me AVATAR “I see you” theme song vibes!
Usually all qualified entires are used to make thumbnail, right? Markus is just too pretty
there were only 4nqs
latvia how tf did u manage to eliminate inspo and justs
Did you watch the live performances? they didn’t perform well and that’s why they were eliminated last night
For me, there is no one else but Sudden Lights who should represent Latvia. Nothing against Patrisha, she is an artist in her own right but the song is just like “Funny Girl”, it feels kind of synthetic, produced just for Supernova. Aij?, on the other hand, I don’t even know if they can compete with other songs, but it is something that I can relate to, it gives me Latvian summer festival vibes, sitting under dark skies on a warm summer night at some alternative rock festival.
Aija is such a great song, I listen it all the time. I really hope they win this
I like Patrisha. Her performance radiates energy and is interesting. The singer is a self-confident person not only in the performance itself, but in general in her professional career, so you can expect a lot from her. Unfortunately, the Inspo group did not have enough of this, and therefore it affected the result of the competition. It’s my opinion.
Dear commenters, maybe watch the live performances before posting dramatic comments? Would answer a lot of your questions.
One song is worse than the other! Latvia hits rock btm this year!
i think they’ve veen hitting it every year since 2016
Ah, Latvia. The country that doesn’t have any native language songs in its NF. I couldn’t care less who they pick. Even Sweden has songs in Swedish in their NF ffs. Have some pride, Latvia.
Why does native language matter so much??
I don’t support Karls hostility about it, but I do agree with the point that I usually want to hear their native languages represented in selections in some form. And in some cases even a song with clumsy lyrics but a great melody and vibe can be salvaged by the song being in a language the listener doesn’t understand and can then not be thrown off by that. There’s several more reasons but the cultural diversity at Eurovision is always a big pull for me and if every year boiled down to English lanugage ballads and bops I wouldn’t be… Read more »
latvia in delirium!
if you have a rockhammer like “sway” you should not chop it for no real reason!
How about the weak vocals and mess of a performance?
Even if the vocals weren’t on point tonight, I still believe Inspo deserved to go through and have another chance. They would be one of the my favorites along with Sudden Lights and 24. Avenija (this one is probably too weird for many viewers, but I loved the vibe and it has one of the best interpretative dances I’ve seen on a while in an Eurovision context). Raum and Patrisha would be fine choices too, though “Hush” has a chorus that gets old pretty fast. Last but not least, Avei was a good surprise, I was sleeping on her. I’ll… Read more »
I came around to Patrisha and Raum and even 24. Avenija tonight. But the clear choice is Sudden Lights now.
You just mentioned my top 4 and I agree, Sudden Lights seems to be the more logical choice now, without Inspo to compete
Give it to the Sudden Lights already
I think it will be between Patricia, Raum and Sudden Lights. I like Patricia best but not sure if she will do best at ESC. Maybe it’s smarter to send RAUM.
I like Patricia. Her performance is full of energy and it is interesting. The singer is a self-confident person not only in the performance, but in general in her professional career, so you can expect a lot from her. She makes a lot of cool radio shows. Unfortunately, the Inspo group did not have enough of this, and therefore it affected the result of the competition. It’s my opinion.
I’m not convinced by Patrisha. She lacks charisma.
SUDDEN LIGHTS HAS TO WIN THEY ARE AMAZING !!! MY ALL TIME FAVE LATVIAN BAND <333 a bit sad that INSPO didn’t get to finals… I was watching Supernova only for them 2 !
Imagine, the non-qualifiers being better than the qualifiers huh.
Can’t believe Inspo didn’t qualify, the best song of the selection literally
I like how one or two of the more underrated ones like Tricky got through. VERY underrated!
For those shocked about Inspo – their live performance was really off. Probably because of stress, because she’s good at singing. But it’s enough to not to be qualified.
Really? Because I just watched all the performances and Inspo still sounded better than half the qualifiers
Patrisha, Raum, Sudden Lights & Luize are the best here. Inspo no qualification ??! Its a joke…
I think its a battle either Patrisha & Sudden Lights ! Who is the best ? I dont Know guys ! But with these 2 acts, a final its possible.
Whoa, Inspo didn’t qualify? That’s odd.
WOAH WOAH WOAH INSPO’S OUT???
I didn’t watch it live because I was watching the MGP final but something DISASTROUS must have happened for them to NQ, like they were my 2nd behind Luize what happened?!?!?!
My favourite is Luize. I cannot understand how 24Avenija or Markus Riva qualified over Inspo. I will pray next week for Luize and Patrisha.
Did you watch the live performances? It would answer your questions.
Inspo did poorly, while 24. avenija had one of the best stagings of the night, if not the best, and perfect vocals.
Inspo out is absurd in this group.
Well it looks like Sudden lights will be going to UK. Based on televotes
Inspo didn’t qualify???
Well, Sudden Lights it is then.
Only had time to catch up on my favs and must say I’m shocked INSPO is out but the lead female vocal was not rocky enough and didn’t fit the song or her band mates. Sudden Lights we’re great and that’s now probably my favourite and RAUM delivered another consistently good performance. And Arturs Hatti got through as well which was a very welcome surprise. He can’t really sing but that doesn’t matter to me, it’s such a vibe-y song
Does anyone what brand of sunglasses this is in the Markus Riva pic?
* does anyone know
Uh, Inspo were my 2nd favs so I’m a bit sad now. Hope Sudden Lights are the ones travelling to Liverpool.
NO WAY INSPO IS OUT IS EVERY LATVIAN DEAF???
I HAD PREDICTED THEY’D FLOP EARLIER THIS MORNING BUT I DID EXPECT THEM IN THE FINAL
not to act toxic but how on earth entries like Love Vibes and When It All Ends qualified instead? <3
#justiceforinspo
right !!! also Markus Riva has to give up like everyone hates him here but somehow he always gets in that’s sus. this is song contest not most handsome or famous contest TT
I think it is the opposite of deaf. While the song itself is great, her vocals were the weakest of the night.
INSPO DIDN’T EVEN QUALIFY FOR THE FINAL?????????????????????
Come on… the vocals were borderline awful.
Absolutely agree, but I think artists with worse vocals and song qualified.
there are hundreds of acts who have qualified with worse (lower) vocals already – the 10 of 14 scenario gives not really room but latvia find a way.
Markus Riva, Alise Haijima, 24.Avenija, Raum, Avéi, Toms Kalderauskis, Arturs Hatti, Sudden Lights, Patrisha and Luize are through.
Inspo is out.
I’m a little taken aback. I mean, the vocal wasn’t there, but neither was Arturs’s.
Sudden Lights!!!! The fav for the audience. Yeah, this has to be their year!
Do we know how many votes they got?
They only showed the televoting results briefly, with around 5 minutes left to vote, and at that moment Sudden Lights had 21% of the votes, 2nd was Markus with 12%, and third was Avei with 9%.
Now, four of these will not make the cut. I’m most nervous for the sings in the first half. Arturs should be out for being really off key for the first verse. And I would not be surprised if the other three eliminated acts would be Katrine, Alise and Adriana. But I’m also nervous for Justs and Luize. The others should be safe. As for the contenders, I would say, it’s between Patrisha, Raum and Sudden Lights. It pains me to say that Inspo will need to amp up their game if they want to be part of the game.… Read more »
After watching all of the performances, I do feel underwhelmed. Aija and Sway are my favourites still even though the performances felt empty, but I know that those songs will sound better on a bigger stage. RAUM was a pleasant surprise. PATRISHA had a great performance too.
Overall great show pulled up by Latvia ! I m impressed. Very pro for a “little” country
i think Hush should go to ESC
“Aija” is a really good song, this odd meter in the verse (if I’m hearing this correctly, it’s a 5/4 rhythm which tunrs into a 3/4 in the chorus) makes this very dynamic. Vocally it was convincing, if im picky I would perhaps give him a little backing vocal support during the verses, but other than that he carries this impeccably. A clear contender, but we already knew that.
They have unique style, in every song they add sounds from different things and that’s what i love about them … they make music while having fun time together .. they are from my area and music is very loved and made with quality here .. i am always proud of them no matter what … their live perfomances are amazing others join in singing in some live performances !
Sudden Lights is so so so good. I m pretty sûre it s a GF qualifier in May. I love it !!
please let it be .. it makes me so happy to hear positive opinion from foreigners because our country mostly follows what the media says about the singers instead of song or talent … if everyone will write sensational news article about Love vibes then love vibes will go to final just like any other previous artist … last artist that was voted for with love was 2015 Aminata others were just from media reaction TT
Luize was starting her performance like Connolly yesterday with the back to the public. Vocally, this was rather shaky, and I think this would need a grander instrumentation. As it is, I do not see this as a contender for the win.
Looks like Tibor is the only one watching haha
The second half is full of great performances. Raum was entirely convincing and energetic. This is the next one to watch out for. I’m really impressed.
Raum’s song is 1000x better than Ollie’s Venom.
Tibor single handedly carrying Supernova today
The others have no idea what they’re missing.
