While it is not something I would personally listen to at home, The Busker seems like something that would catch the attention of the voters in a semi final before Checkmate would. Checkmate is a mediocre pop song and while I do like the staging with those panels that they bring in mid-performance, I don’t find Brooke herself interesting as much, because most of the time, she just stood in place and then made a few steps forward and the back. But if it’s true that only high-core fans watch the semis then I guess Brooke might have more chance… Read more »

It is a really unfair contest, when it comes to televoting, so ridiculous, one can send 3 sms’s. So, nobody chooses a favourite, but 3 of them, or rather cheat, and close friends and family vote 3 times to the same person, There is never a doubt who will win , but that someone who has been competing for long , so it’ s their turn .Or be innovative, and try someone completely new and fresh, with European experience, maybe that country prefers us when televoting. The bombastic two Letter sign on the clothes which I really cannot stand every… Read more »

As long as Nathan and Bradley qualify to the finals, I’m good. 🙂

I don’t really care who qualifies

This year, Malta and San Marino are competing to offer the longest mediocre selection. I am not going to watch MESC, and I will wait for the dust to settle. As far as I know, PBC has the nerve to change a song the public has chosen. Why invest time in something that is likely to be replaced then?

Mikhail is the only one that adds anything to table with his Maltese song.

I’m going to try for Malta next year. A piece inspired by John Cage, I’ll call it Jonas’s 3’00”, and I will expect your support in helping me qualify. #Valetta2025

Ahaha! I doubt the audience would stay silent for three minutes at Eurovision though. The required staging for your song would require some innovation. 🙂

The Busker. Maybe Nathan because based on the footage of the rehearsals on the malta Instagram he is pretty good too. Brooke has a nice voice, and her song is very polished, but its also very bland.

I would have also included Lura Qatt or Tik Tok but they didn’t qualify.

I like The Busker – “Dance (Our Own Party)”. A lot! But this Brooke entry ending up as Wiwibloggs’ favourite entry is really rubbish!

I’mma just be honest I think this song just sucks. Musically and lyrically it’s very bland. Brooke sounds great and everything but this song is just bad.

But hey so are the rest of these.

If or when Brooke wins on Saturday, she will likely be in the number two spot in the first semifinal.

what is it with Malta having great singers but bad songs?

I loved Aidan and I was cheering for him the entire time. He was my favorite last year too. But let’s be honest, Brooke had a better song this year! It is the best from what Malta offered this year. I was here the entire time fighting for Aidan, defending him. But I feel it’s better if he returns in a few years or even next year (or he maybe?! gets selected internally) with a better song. I am leaving Aidan behind now and I also think Brooke will have her chances at ESC if she wins. But I am… Read more »

Although I suppose Black out, Haunted, Tears, In The Silence and Alone would also be appropriate slogans for this selection.

The Busker could be a dark horse to qualify for the final. I don’t think anything else is close.

If any of the competitors can be disqualified for self-promotion, why take the risk of displaying a poll result? Theoretically, I could be competing, a fan could share this poll result on my behalf, and I would be disqualified. Did Wiwibloggs re-clarify what the rules are with TVM?

In order to be self promotion, the post would have to originate from you. Fans sharing things on your behalf lacks the “self” aspect, and would be absolutely impossible to control. Wiwibloggs the company is not affiliated with anyone competing and does not count as an agent of any competitor (the way a family member or a person who works closely with an artist might be). Aiden was disqualified for posting a teaser of the song with pictures of his dancers to his own socials. That was not only coming directly from him, but included info the public would not… Read more »

Whilst thats true, we’ve seen other contestants and the broadcaster not follow this rule so at this point it feels pretty pointless. (that was before and after aidan’s dq)

Granted, but if they want to arbitrarily disqualify people, they need a plausible reason, and this wouldn’t be it.

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to answer the question; I appreciate it. As a fan and a musician myself, it is difficult for me to understand the necessity of restricting self promotion when I assume that one of the main motivating factors for taking part in a national final, and potentially Eurovision itself, would be the opportunity of self promotion. Therefore, my next question would be: “Why ban self promotion?”

Jonas

Why even call it “self” promotion, when they’re actually promoting a TVM show?
