It’s time to head back to Portugal on Saturday for semi-final 2 of Festival da Canção 2023. We’ll get to watch another ten acts take to the stage.
Earlier this week, we asked you to vote for the six acts you wanted to qualify from the semi-final.
A total of 2,024 votes were cast. Now it’s time to reveal the results.
Edmundo Inácio is a favourite in Festival da Canção 2023 semi-final 2
Topping the poll is Edmundo Inácio. His song “A Festa” picked up 435 votes, which is 21.49% of the total.
After finishing fourth on the ninth season of The Voice Portugal, he’s now hoping to go all the way for this current competition. He at least seems to have a strong chance of getting to the grand final according to our readers.
Bárbara Tinoco returns to Festival da Canção after placing second in 2020. This time around she’s competing with the song “Goodnight” and aiming to go one better.
She picks up another silver medal in this poll. Bárbara received 350 votes — 17.29% of all those cast.
It was a tight race for third place. But in the end, Bandua just snatched the last podium spot by one vote. They earned 268 votes in total (13.24%).
If the final result was up to our readers, the other three qualifiers would be: Ivandro, INÊS APENAS and Teresinha Landeiro.

This semifinal is tougher to call, I believe. Edmundo, Ivandro and Barbara should be the safe qualifiers. Then it may be an open field between Bandua, Ines Apenas, Teresinha Landeiro and Lara Li. Both Lara Li and Teresinha Landeiro are the type of traditional jury bait Festival da Canção always has, so I can see the jury pushing at least 1 of them to the final. Voodoo Marmelade closing the running order fall into the same category as Pepperoni Passion last year, and might sneak into the final due to televote. Edmundo’s song is quite captivating and might be my second favourite of this national selection. Unpopular opinion if I judge from this poll, but I’d love for Lara Li to go through. There’s something about her song that is quite captivating. And on the same trend of having a different opinion, Barbara Tinoco has a song I don’t connect with and doesn’t even make my top 7.
