Her Eurovision 2023 song “I Wrote A Song” is a staple of fans’ Top 10 videos on YouTube. And the U.K.’s Mae Muller is 100% here for it.

“It makes me feel so good — I’m not gonna lie,” she told our Cinan at the Barcelona Eurovision Party.

“You never know what the reaction is going to be before it’s released. It’s more than I could ever imagine. I just want people to listen to it and feel empowered and confident. You can put it on and just do a little bop, ya know? As long as you can do that I’m happy.”

The BBC took its time to reveal Mae Muller as its Eurovision act. Was it difficult for her to keep the secret?

“I am a manic over-sharer and I love to spill the tea in whatever situation I’m in,” she says. “So keeping that secret was very difficult to me. And a lot of people who have been listening to my music for a while know that I love to tease. So they were like, ‘We can’t believe you didn’t leak that information before. We’re so proud of you!’ It was very difficult to keep it a secret, but I think it was worth it.”

The North London stunner admits that she’s feeling the heat.

“I think it’s impossible not to feel the pressure, ’cause I really wanna do well and I wanna do everybody proud. But I think if I just go out there and just try my best and connect with everyone, I don’t think I can ask for anything more than that. I feel prepared. I feel I’m ready. As long as I go out there and have fun, give it my all, I think I’ll be alright.”

She’s got some big guns on her side — including Josh Huerta, who famously danced with Chanel at Eurovision 2022.

“We love Josh. This is a Josh stan account. He’s been really involved in the choreography and I’m so grateful that he’s been a part of the journey. He’s been a boost. He’s such a lovely, kind human and so talented. So for him to be on this part of the journey is just really nice.”

So can we expect some Chanel-esque dance moves in Liverpool?

“Chanel — she can really dance. And I’m going to try my best to embody Chanel. But I can’t do the splits.”

Are you loving Mae’s energy and spirit as much as we are? Do you think that she can reach the Top 5? Let us know your thoughts down below!

She’s an overweight, Jewish chavette. Birdy would have been a better representative of the best of Britain.

I love her, but this was the biggest disappointment. She danced like a potato, the vocal was very weak, stage presence nonexistent. It wasn’t as bad as Pia Maria, but it was quite mediocre and amateurish. I’m gutted.

People are too harsh with criticism for Mae, when they can’t even sing themselves and go off topic every time with something about Blanka Poland or Noa from Israel everytime. Even if the topic was about anything , some how these 2 countries pop in somewhere I really don’t know, the latter too much. Neither will get my vote this year because of these desperate annoying influencers.

Just hope Mae gets chance to recover from her illness as I know she can do much better than the performance she gave last night, she should have just sat this pre party out like the Austrian girls did

Her live tonight at Barcelona really was not what I was expecting. But, considering how heavily edited and filtered the audio of the studio cut was, it would be a difficult task to pull off such vocals live anyways.

To her credit, she had stage presence and worked with the crowd. The vocal was a disappointment though.

It was, on the other hand, a fantastic night for Blanca. It was a perfect performance.

Barcelona pre party is irrelevant, as sound quality is pure crap there, we’ll know more after London, Eurovision In Concert (Amsterdam) pre parties, where sound quality is much better

Well, she has potential, she knows to move, she is sassy, she has the energy but she just needs to improve a bit her voice and to change these outfits imo.

“Come on girl, give us another Billboard hit!”….. except, if you are into American fast-food music, then why even follow Eurovision? Just go and give all your love to the Billboard Hot 100. This is the least European thing on offer, along with Israel.

having just watched a few BCN party live videos of this song, I am now worried that she won’t be able to carry this song live on the esc stage in Liverpool.

The studio cut works coz it has layered vocals and autotuned. Live is a disaster. The verses come across like she’s talking in monotone and the high note was not reached.

She did have stage presence though, so at least we’re not duplicating dishwater JN.
