Here we go again! On Sunday eight more artists will have their first rehearsals on the Eurovision 2024 stage. They’re the acts competing in the second half of the first semi-final.

They’ll have 30 minutes to test out the stage to see how their graphics and camera angles are coming together. And to start working out their jitters as they fill the arena with their voices for the very first time. Finland’s Windows95man, up third today, will no doubt practice emerging from that denim egg. While Portugal’s Iolanda, who performs next to last, will see how her dancers hold up on this much larger stage.

Throughout the day the EBU will release photos and short TikTok snippets. We’ll try to update this post as things drop. Regardless, please share your thoughts in the comments section throughout the day!

Eurovision 2024 rehearsal schedule | Day 2 (Sunday 28 April)

Here’s the full Eurovision rehearsal schedule for Sunday 28 April.

  • 10:30 — 11:00 Iceland
  • 11:10 — 11:40 Slovenia
  • 11:50 — 12:20 Finland
  • 12:30 — 13:00 Moldova
  • 14:10 — 14:40 Azerbaijan
  • 14:50 — 15:20 Australia
  • 15:30 — 16:00 Portugal
  • 16:10 — 16:40 Luxembourg

Eurovision 2024 rehearsals

8. 🇮🇸 Iceland: Hera Björk with “Scared of Heights”

@eurovision All that glitters is indeed gold when it comes to Eurovision royalty @Hera Björk 🇮🇸 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision

Hera Björk has changed her outfit for the Eurovision stage, opting for a gold bodysuit with fringed sleeves. Her backing vocalists are in black suits that have matching-coloured fringe adorned on them as well. Similarly to Söngvakeppnin, the Icelandic star has a staircase on stage with her — though this one is notably larger. The lighting and LED screen match the pyramid shape of the stairs, with the background featuring a number of silhouetted dancers. The overall theme here is giving golden girl ready to climb high!

9. 🇸🇮 Slovenia: Raiven with “Veronika”

@eurovision @raiven is soaring on the rehearsal stage in Malmö Arena 🇸🇮 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision

Raiven is donning a catsuit for her Eurovision performance, intricately designed to give the feeling of nudity even if she’s actually fully covered up. She begins on the floor and works the varying cameras from different angles. The Slovenian songstress is then joined by five backing dancers, who themselves have minimal clothing despite some flesh-coloured pieces. It all feels very interpretive and animalistic. The footage and photos don’t showcase much variance in the lightning choices throughout the performance, so the focus is purely on Raiven throughout.

10. 🇫🇮 Finland: Windows95Man with “No Rules”

@eurovision Malmö Arena transforms into a denim dreamscape as @Windows95Man enters the chat 🇫🇮 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision

As expected, Windows95Man has changed very little from his UMK performance. The main tweak has been to smudge the Windows 95 logo on his t-shirt and cap — got to avoid those copyright infringements. The denim egg and clothing otherwise remain, with the Finnish star being bestowed his denim shorts for a pyro-tastic conclusion.

11. 🇲🇩 Moldova: Natalia Barbu with “In the Middle”

@eurovision @Natalia Barbu official sings, plays strings and finds her wings, all at Moldova’s first rehearsal 🇲🇩 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision

Natlia Barbu has cut her national final dancers and is now taking to the Eurovision stage all on her own. Wearing a stunning white dress with a leg split and golden flower shoulder piece, she look stunning whilst stood centre stage. The Moldovan singer initially has a violin bow attached to her back, and then pull sit out to play a contemporary-style violin. The LED graphics feature wings, bubbles, plus a stunning garden with butterflies and pink blossom tree.

12. 🇦🇿 Azerbaijan: FAHREE feat. Ilkin Dovlatov with “Özünlə Apar”

@eurovision Glittering graphics and powerhouse vocals, @Fahree feat. @İlkinDövlətov have got rehearsals in hand 🇦🇿 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision

Azerbaijan have gone for a silver and black theme to their performance. FAHREE and Ilkin Dovlatov futuristic-style jackets, which almost give off a military feel. The former stands centre stage, with the head and arms of a figure emerging on the LED screen behind him. Later in the performance, two hands appear on the stage itself, giving the sense that this figure is reaching out to FAHREE in the arena. Ilkin stands off to stage left and performs for the cameras here.

13. 🇦🇺 Australia: Electric Fields with “One Milkali (One Blood)”

@eurovision @Electric Fields are lighting up rehearsals for Australia in Malmö 🇦🇺 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision

Australia are bringing an explosion of colour to the Malmö stage. Zaachariaha wears an elegant outfit that reflects the lightning perfectly — he’s also going bear foot for the performance. Michael is slightly over to stage left on the keyboard. The duo are joined by two backing singers and a didgeridoo player to give it a truly Australian theme. The background LEDs, as well as the cubes above the stage, feature swirling red graphics and also the title lyrics “One Milkali”.

14. 🇵🇹 Portugal: iolanda with “Grito”

@eurovision Shout all about it! @iolanda is sending sparks flying in rehearsals 🇵🇹 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision

iolanda keeps things simple and refined for her Eurovision performance. The Portuguese star has brought her five backing dancers from Festival da Canção and the overall white styling. But the staging is also enhanced in a few ways. The middle cube has been lowered to just above head height, creating an intimate setting. Additionally, the LED wall in the background shows live black and white footage of iolanda, creating a sense that she is watching over herself.

15. 🇱🇺 Luxembourg: TALI with “Fighter”

@eurovision Come for the song, stay for the pyro. @Tali is proving she’ll never let us down 🇱🇺 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision

Not satisfied with just the ceiling-hanging cubes, Team Luxembourg have brought their own cube set piece. TALI and her dancers start the performance there before moving to the centre of the stage. The LED features wild cats, whilst the entry also includes pyro to add an extra spark. For her stage outfit, TALI has decided to wear a black bodysuit and her hair is styled into two braids. The accompanying backing dancers have more colour to them, with differently styled red and amber pieces.

As I expected, Moldova will have a good staging and it will be at least borderline qualifier. It is a shame that she is so static, I think it is a mistake, but with the outfit which is great and nice led work, they can make it work. Poland is just horrible, so literal and expected and bad staging, it has no chance. Australia is Jeangu Macrooy No2. as I said before, we won’t connect to their culture in a same way as the Netherlands, and in addition the song is just weak, they are not charismatic enough on stage.… Read more »

the second half of SF1 is weak…. Anyway, Finland is horrendous. Sorry guys. Just a rehash of 2023 entry in terms of fun concept and craziness but it’s actually not funny and desperate for attention. I will be very disappointed if Portugal misses the final and Finland goes through. Luxembourg looks like it has a sleek staging but i am not a fan of her outfit or the pigtails… she looked fabulous in the national final and here they’re trying to give her a persona look but it does look bizarre. She is a natural beauty with a nice smile,… Read more »

It seems like the topic today is tits and butts (you can see the irony in how certain countries got negative comments and others passed through with a green card just because), following yesterday’s trend: sexiness sells when it is done by the correct countries. Since visuals is all we care about nowadays, I just wanted to say I am glad to find out from the Australian entry that those ceiling cubes are more than just a few effects going there and there. I wonder how many countries will take full advantage of their capabilities.

Of course it’s not fair to word it that way but it this particular case, do you see any difference? Do you actually think that wearing only a string is appropriate because it’s on Eurovision stage? If so then say it now so I can call the artist representing my country and tell him to go like this on stage it will give him extra vote.

Achille Lauro (San Marino 2022) was wearing black thongs, was that more appropriate because of the lace outfit on top of it?

I doubt there’s some extra +40 points for those with bare ass on stage, personally I don’t mind new norms that give people more freedom to express themselves.

The Slovenian LED background is a yuuuge disappointment – it looks like they borrowed those kitschy clouds from Croatia’s 2019 Eurovision act (hope they didn’t borrow Roko’s angel wings as well…).

They should’ve kept those fiery visuals from the end of the video, which fitted the witchy atmosphere of the song so much better. NQ is more and more likely, especially with no juries in the semi finals to award Raiven’s vocalizing.

It is a reference to the Finnish epic Kalevala, where the world is born from an egg. Just this time Windows95Man is born from an egg without his magic jorts.

It’s probably taking a while to upload because of boring technical reasons, or because Nemo finally found their favourite video on their camera roll and decided to interrupt the uploads. (I’m just kidding.) 😀

Somebody told me today that Hera’s “Scared of Heights” is a popular song with “wine mums.” This is a particular demographic that I hadn’t personally heard of before, so I looked up its definition. It reads:
“”Wine mom” is a term that is used to describe a typically upper middle class mother, often with young children, who turns to alcoholic drinks to cope with being over-worked or fatigued from parenting.”

No. The ‘wine mums’ won’t vote for Hera ‘I feel the hot flashes coming’.
They don’t want to feel a link with the coming menopause.

The bored ‘wine mums’ will vote for the naked chests of Olly and Mustii, and for Finland in their underpants.
