Azerbaijan staged its national final this evening and the jury was clearly feeling greedy. Rather than choosing just one singer, they’ve gone for two. Eldar Gasimov will perform a duet with Shakira look-a-like Nigar Jamal.
And that naturally means we get to listen to two more horrible Eurovision covers.
Another week, another finalist in Azerbaijan’s epic series of 11 semi-finals. Aynishan Quliyeva, whose tattoo is prettier than her voice, won the fifth semi-final over the weekend. She’s infinitely better than Nikola Barkley, the Scotswoman who won semi-final four, but that’s not exactly saying much. Listen to Aynishan below:

Wiwi did not watch the third semi-final in the Azeri national selection. But if Günay Ibrahimli won it, then the rest of the competition must have been really weak.
Azeri web site News.Az is reporting that 77 hopefuls will battle it out to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2011.
