Tonight the final two finalists for Melodifestivalen 2011 will be chosen. In classic SVT fashion, the Second Chance will be played out in duels, similar to an NCAA Final Four bracket…except penguin suits and glitter will take centre stage, not seven-foot-tall-college-jocks. (One can only dream…)
Wiwi and Vebooboo spent last weekend up North in Sweden. Although we gorged on enough elk and kanelbullar (cinammon buns) to last a lifetime, the highlight of our trip was definitely Saturday night’s fourth and final Melodifestivalen semi-final.

Sweden’s much-awaited Melodifestivalen kicked off on February 5 with the first of four semi-finals. And following a never-ending series of audible disasters at last year’s competition, Vebooboo was delighted to see a number of quality acts among the first 8 of 32.
SVT has released a 30-minute sneak preview show featuring interviews with and a one-minute clip from each of this Saturday’s semi-final contestants in Luleå. Vebooboo watched the programme (available at www.svt.se/melodifestivalen) and can now dish the following dirt.
Attention Sweden: if you’re planning to televote during this year’s Melodifestivalen final, you may want to think twice before spending your hard-earned kronor.
