The European Broadcasting Union has announced that 2008 Eurovision runner-up Ani Lorak (that’s Karolina backwards) will host the 2009 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.
Lorak, whose performance of ‘Shady Lady’ remains one of the sexiest numbers to ever skank-up the Eurovision stage, may seem an odd choice to host the world’s largest song contest for children. Her 2008 performance features a lot of humping and cleavage. Ukraine’s 2009 JESC act, on the other hand, features a small boy singing in front of a sun. Looks like Europe’s children are going to learn about a lot more than singing….

Sweden has chosen Mimmi Sandén with her song Du. One of her back-up singers Alexander Kronlund reportedly wrote the songs Lucky and If U Seek Amy for Britney Spears. OMG! Little Miss Sanden is musical royalty in Sweden. Her sister Molly Jenson represented Sweden at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, and her other sister Frida Sandén, represented Sweden in 2007. Crazy.
Last year Georgia won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Bzzz, a song sung in a fictious bee language. This year’s rep—The Princesses Band singing Lurji Prinveli—seem to have adopted some of that bee language in the chorus. You can compare below.

On Saturday, Laura Omloop stormed to victory at Belgium’s national selection contest with Zo Verliefd, two minutes and thirty seconds of yodeling. Enjoy!
Those of you who you have seen Sounds Like Teen Spirit, the documentary about the 2007 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, will likely remember the The Dalton Sisters—the screeching trio of robotic cowgirls who made it to Belgium’s national final. Wiwi has just learned that the trio has become a quartet—could someone please introduce their parents to birth control?—and recently provided the lead single for the Dutch/Flemish soundtrack of Beverly Hills Chihuahua (Oscar caliber, darling). This is a WTF of epic proportions, so Wiwi has found some clips to share with you.
Here are the Dalton Sisters performing Verander de wereld (Change the world) at the 2007 Belgian Junior Eurosong Final:
And here they are performing the title song for the Dutch/Flemish version of Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Oh. My. God.
