Eurovision 2010 Lyrics: The Netherlands, Sieneke with “Ik Ben Verliefd, Shalalie” (I’m In Love, Sha-la-la)

Posted on 22 Feb 2010 at 10:18am

English Translation

I’m in love (Sha-la-lee)

I forgot where I’ve heard this song, in the summer sun I believe it was back there with you on the beach in Lisbon Or was it back there in Paris Behind a bowl of fresh mocha ice cream? Or possibly, it was the two of us overseas in that air balloon

Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala I can’t get it out of my head Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala I wake up with it in the morning

I’m in love with you That’s why I forget so quickly and don’t know it anymore Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala That’s roughly how it goes

I’m in love, I’m in love I’m in love, that’s quite obvious

Or possibly, I was sitting high in the sky, on a plane to Oslo Or did it come from a bar in an alley – I was once in Trinidad Or was it with a glass of fine wine In that pavement cafe in Berlin? Maybe back then in the snow on a horse-sleigh in Leningrad?

How can I, how can I… How can I, how can I… How can I possibly forget that?

Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala I can’t get it out of my head Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala I wake up with it in the morning

I’m in love with you That’s why I forget so quickly and don’t know it anymore Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala That’s roughly how it goes

Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala I can’t get it out of my head Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala I get up with it in the morning

I’m in love with you That’s why I forget so quickly and don’t know it anymore Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala That’s roughly how it goes Shalalee shalala, shalalee shalala That’s roughly how it goes

Sieneke Wins in the Netherlands!

Posted on 08 Feb 2010 at 1:33am

Wiwi is loving the Dutch entry. He doesn’t think it will get as much play in gay clubs as last year’s entry Shine, but this will get airplay on the radio no doubt!

Here’s an interview with the 17-year old winner. Wiwi does not speak Dutch. If anyone wants to translate the highlights that would be hot! Is she talking about her passion for accordions ?

What Ralf Said At His Press Conference

Posted on 22 Nov 2009 at 12:31am

Thank goodness the winner spoke English. Below is a transcription of everything Ralf Machenback said. Wiwi is so glad he took a shorthand class!

How has your week in Kyiv been?

“It’s been really busy, with a lot of photographers. It’s a really beautiful city with a lot of gold and churches.”

What will you do next?

“I really don’t know yet.”

What’s next for you?

“I love entertaining so I want to do something with that. It could be dancing, or it might be singing or it might be acting. I don’t really care so long as I can entertain.”

What are you going to do tonight?

“I think we’re just going to scream at each other .”

What did you learn this week?

“I learned that you just got to go for it. You just have to do it.”

Will you compete in the adult Eurovision?

“Well, I think Junior Eurovision is enough.”

Have your dancers helped you?

“They really supported me. You can share the load with each other.”

What do you want to say to the other contestants?

“I wish them a really fun party tonight. I wish them a career in entertainment. We’re all winners.”

Do you have any other thoughts on Kyiv?

“It’s a beautiful city. it’s really big and European.”

Are you famous in your own country?

“I don’t know. I haven’t been in my country yet.”

What about girls?

“Well, I think it’s going to be a really busy period coming up…”

Do you have a girlfriend?

“No.”

When did you start singing?

“I started singing about three years ago. I’ve been singing all my life. I don’t really know when singing began for me.”

Who have you made friends with?

“We had a lot of fun with Sweden because we were on the same floor in the hotel. We watched a horror movie about a horror in a hotel room, while we were in a hotel room.”

Why did Europe love your song?

“The tapping might have done it. To make a song original it needs something that the others don’t have. Not many people write songs about tapping.”

Do you speak German?

“I’m not very good. But I will learn.”

Do you have time to come to Germany to perform in some of our shows?

“We can make time.”

What advice do you have for future contestants?

“Write a song that you like. Don’t listen to the radio and make something like that. Write in your own style. That makes it original. I just wrote my song and went for it.”
