The European Broadcasting Union has finally released the full breakdown of Eurovision voting, revealing that the introduction of a professional jury had a major impact on final placements.
The jury did not affect winner Alexander Rybak, the foppish fiddler player from Norway, as he placed first among the jury and among the public. However, second-place finisher Yohanna of Iceland would have dropped to fourth place without the jury. Azerbaijan’s Arash and Aysel would have moved up from third place to second. Turkey’s Hadise would have moved up from fourth place to third.
Others benefiting from the professional jury were fifth-place finisher Jade Ewen of the UK (the public ranked her 10th; the jury ranked her third) and eighth-place finisher Patricia Kaas of France (the public ranked her 17th; the jury ranked her fourth). Complete results were as follows:
