Vebooboo: The music never dies, but my interest in this song sure has. Sabina owes a huge thank you to Ell & Nikki for gifting her an automatic berth in the final. To be honest, without that gift I’m not so sure we’d be seeing her on Saturday. Girl can sing, don’t get me wrong, but this song just lacks that little ‘je ne sais quoi.’ Maybe Hera Bjork could give her a tip or two. Having said all this, the staging is A-quality. Dramatic colour changes, nice dress, and back-up dancers who actually sway with the song. Good job for that, but I’m still not rushing to a convenience store to buy your next CD any time soon.
Deban: Wow! That was a rehearsal and a half. Sabina Babayeva brings first class quality to the table. During my interview with her in London, I knew she was special. I love the fact that she doesn’t try to hard, and gets the pitch right. Her song is a grower and every time I hear it, it improves. The staging is beautiful. Great use of colour. The backing singers double up as dancers. The movement is exquisite and her beautiful dress sways gloriously. Although this song automatically qualifies, it isn’t relying on that. It is a contender for the ESC crown in it’s own right.
