We may be 10 months away from Malmö, but Sweden’s celebrity circle is already getting catty over who will have the privilege of hosting next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Hosting is a huge honour — we are talking big time public exposure here, people, so it’s not a surprise that our favourite Swedish schlager queen Charlotte Perrelli has thrown her wig and nails into the boxing ring. “I can absolutely think of doing it if I get the offer,” she recently told Sweden’s Expressen newspaper. “If I were to be asked I would definitely think about it. But I don’t think I’m the only one who wants to do it.”

Mr. Charlotte Perrelli

That’s right, Charlotte: you got competition. Among the frontrunners are midget Måns Zelmerlöw and the fleshy Russian-American-Swede Sarah Dawn Finer (both pictured above). All three have hosted Melodifestivalen before. But my personal favourite is Sarah. Why? Because she has a LOT of stage presence (and I’m not just talking square footage), and because she ACTUALLY speaks NATIVE English.

But the list doesn’t stop with these three. Betting agency Unibet has already made odds for the potential hosts, and Sarah is already casting a shadow over the competition.

I wish Måns and Sarah, and gina in the green room. Charlotte Perelli as spoker person because 2 minutes it’s enough. And i don’t forget Carola on the parking to pray for our cars.

Oh, and Vebooboo–what makes you say Mans is a midget? Judging by pictures of him standing next to Danny Saucedo who seems perfectly tall (he towers of Eric Saade and is a bit taller than his bandmates) and some of him beside Sanna/Sonja/Shirley (three incredibly tall women with a penchant for wearing heels), I’d say he’s like six feet or 1,8 meters. Even by Swedish standards, that’s perfectly respectable 🙂

Would personally love to see Mans–he’s cute, experienced, charming, and he SPEAKS FRENCH! (or sings in it with a perfect accent) That would be nice and would prevent any more “whose turn is it to say something in french?” jokes that got pretty old last year. I wouldn’t object to SDF either, she’s very funny. I’m a little sick of female-dominated hosts (in 2010 especially, no male eye candy for gay male/straight female viewers) but even so, I have my own all-female idea which would probably work better for MF but I’ll toss it out: Sanna/Sonja/Shirley. Tall, gorgeous, talented women,… Read more »

Anyone would be an improvement from this year’s awkward, robotic hosts really (Seeing Eldar host still makes me cringe.) That said, my vote goes to Lynda Woodruff/Sarah!

Maybe it’s because I’m American and I don’t get what Europeans want in a host for ESC. But the last couple of years have been awful. Eldar kept reminding me of Wil Wheaton (in his guest appearances on The Big Bang Theory).

Please, have hosts that, when they tell a joke, people laugh.

Someone should start a Facebook group. I’m old-ish and technically challenged, I don’t know how to do it.

It’s not going to happen in a million years but in my dreams I see ESC 2013 hosted by Sarah Dawn Finer and… Alexander Skarsgård.
