Poll: Loreen’s “U-U-U-U-UP” Was the Best Vocal Gimmick at Eurovision 2012

Eurovision artists frequently use vocal gimmicks—nonsensical vowels, syllables, and sounds—to get their songs stuck in your head. Examples include Malta’s “eh eh eh eh” and Cyprus’s “Lalalalalalalala love.” Back in July we chose 12 of our favorites, and asked you to vote for the one you liked most. After one month and 350 votes, we can now reveal that Loreen went u-u-up to the top of our poll.

The Swedish singer edged out Romania’s Mandinga (“Zaleilah-leila-lei” and “Ribababababapai!”). Ivi Adamou la-la-loved her way to third place, while Bulgaria’s favorite Roma Sofi Marinova finished fourth (“Do rem dem dem dei”).
