When the bookies released their first set of odds predicting who will host Eurovision 2013, they placed Sarah Dawn Finer and Gina Dirawi at the front of the pack. Sarah, the hilarious host of Melodifestivalen 2012, presented Sweden’s votes during Eurovision 2012 in Baku. Gina, who played Sarah’s understudy at Melodifestivalen, was Sweden’s on-air commentator during SVT’s Eurovision show in Baku.

Their on-air chemistry and proven track record suggests the double-act could work in Malmö. But regardless of whether Sarah is offered the gig, the team at WiwiBloggs.Com are fairly certain that Gina will be.

Why? Because the selection of Malmö to host Eurovision has reminded the world of the city’s shortcomings: namely its reputation as the hate crime capital of Scandinavia. News reports about anti-Semitism are a reminder that immigration remains a prickly issue in Sweden. Some have suggested that this has fueled crime in the city. (You can learn about the latest brawls in our very own Malmö Crime Watch series.)

Gina could help change the city’s image. A comedian of Palestinian descent, she shows that Sweden is more diverse than outsiders realize, and her family is a good example of how integration can work. Given how well she did hosting Melodifestivalen 2012, it’s likely that SVT chose her to commentate during its broadcast of Eurovision 2012 as a grooming exercise for this year. (Come on: We know they knew they were likely to win!).

The last Palestinian to grace the Eurovision stage—as far as we know—was Mira Awad. In 2009, she formed one-half of the duet that represented Israel.

I”ll go with Eric Saade…seriously, if you’re not watching for the songs and the festival, you will keep watching anyway because he is TOO. DAMN. CUTE.

I agree totaly, i bet also on gina. For all the reasons of the article.
I saw some shows on svt with gina dirawi this summer, and she can represent youngs, swedish integration, Humor….

I bet too with MZ, and perhabs this 3 september, for the “Kristallen” (The svenska tevepreset 2012 – it’s a test for eurovision.

And of course i hope SDF but i don’t have the conviction yet.
