Slovenia’s ‘Mission Eurovision’ kicked off Oct. 2

Now, we at wiwibloggs know that times are tough for Europe, but why do these countries keep skipping out on fan selections for ESC?!?! Slovenia has just announced that it will be joining the other Balkan nations Croatia, Montenegro and FYR Macedonia in skipping out on the annual EMA voter-based selection process. So they won’t be staging their selection contest Misija Evrovizija this year. Ugh, don’t these nations realise that Eurovision investment is an investment in the people? It builds spirit and creates good karma, y’all!

We’ll find out on Feb 15th who will represent the tiny nation of Slovenia. But let’s not exactly hold our breath–since entering in 1993 the nation has only done as well as 7th in 1995 and 2002. But Maja Keuc was THE BOMB in 2011.

Oops!

I meant RTVSLO has confirmed on the 1st February (NOT January!) 2013 that Hannah Mancini will be representing Slovenia this year.

Considering there’s no EMA 2013 and the Slovenian public won’t be involved with this year’s entry, it’s a huge gamble.

But my fellow Slovenes might as well make the most of it since Slovenia are fortunate enough to still be in the Eurovision Song Contest despite financial difficulties.
